I have ordered the AA .22 conversion kit for my Glock 34, although they seem to be in short supply, so it could be awhile before I get it. Anyone have experience with these things for Glocks? I want to compete in an RF bullseye league, and I don't want to burn a P2P for a dedicated .22 pistol, especially since I don't even know if I'm going to like shooting in league competition.
Out of curiosity, couldn't you also get the G17 AA 22lr kit for the G34? Same frame right?
I want to try some bullseye/accuracy type matches as well with my 22 conversion, but I'm not
so sure it'd make the cut. OK, well, I'm not so sure I'd make the cut

They have to follow up with the details on what exactly happened. Sadly that NEVER HAPPENS.
Instead non-gun/anti-gun people read the story and assume that guns randomly shoot people.
If it were more properly explained that this is due to the negligence of the person behind
the trigger, improper holster, etc. then perhaps we could undo some of the misinformation
out there about guns.
-
What model replaced the 9L then?
That is a sweet looking pistol. I'm giving careful thought
to a dedicated competition pistol and it's between a G17, 34,
and the S&W MP series.

Thanks for the replies. No they are not DUIs, just points for moving
violations. Not that many either, maybe 5 points, and they were about
five years ago (NJ takes away 2 every year if you get no violations within
that year).
Is a drivers license actually required in the first place to obtain a FID. I know we always have to match FID and DL when doing a transaction but what about an older person who may no longer have there DL or what if the live in a city that they use PT and don't drive. Would they be denied there 2A rights. I would think a State ID other than a DL would be sufficient. That's what I was saying. I don't think you have to have a Driver's License for an FID.
You could have a valid passport and that should be sufficient no?
Sounds like your friend has moral character issues if the cop handing him his application knows how many points he has on his licence and feels he would be unsafe handling firearms without investigating him.More like the cop is assuming he has moral character issues and would be unsafe handling a firearm based upon the points he has on his license.

My friend went in to the Paterson PD today to apply for his FID.
The officer gave him the forms, but said that they would let him
know if it was even worth getting fingerprinted since he had some
points on his license. When he asked why the officer responded,
"Well if you can't control a vehicle properly than how can you
control a firearm?"
Uh... WTF is that all about?! I mean correct me if I'm wrong, but
I don't think your driving record has any bearing on your ability
to legally own a firearm unless you were involved in some kind of
vehicular homicide.
Am I wrong here?

Bill, trying again, let me know when you get it.

OK so I tried the 6 O'Clock hold and yes, it definitely fixed things alright.
But I still wonder if I'm shooting high as I was aiming very low on this plate
from 25 yards. I thought 6 O'clock was something like 3" lower than your POI
at 25 yards. This was more 5". The front site was actually held below the
entire plate right at the bottom edge. Maybe I'm just not used to shooting this
way but I felt that was a very low point of aim.
I used this gun in static steel for the first time on Sunday and I really didn't
think it affected my shooting. So I guess as long as I get used to this sight
picture I will not need to change my sights. Pic below from tonight's session.

Are they really that much better than an M&P, XDm, Glock or any other newer generation pistol?I wouldn't say better or worse. Different is the best way to describe it. Of all the guns I've shot and own the 1911
(I have the Kimber TLE RL II) is my favorite to shoot. To me it has the most character. But I certainly wouldn't say
it's a better pistol than the other guns I've owned/shot. It has it's pros and cons like any other gun. Maybe rent
one and put a couple boxes through one to experience it again and see how you feel afterwards. Bring your M&P so you
can do a side by side comparo.
Are the lower priced 1911s worth it?I've only owned a Kimber, but from what I've heard they are pretty much just as reliable/accurate as the ones that are
a little more expensive. With increase cost in a 1911 you really get better fit, finish, looks, features, but that
doesn't necessarily equate to a better shooting/more reliable pistol. I bought a Kimber because that's how I wanted my 1911 to look and feel.

I don't think the blendtec is USPSA Production legal or any other blender for that matter.

Contour looks good enough for the price. From my research it's half the cost of the GoPro no?
Or almost half. Lemme know if I overlooked something. I think I'm gonna start with the Contour
and if I really need it I'll get something higher end down the road.
The Tachyon is another consideration, have not heard much about it.

Harry- I didn't know there were two stages...DUH
You didn't shoot the second stage either?
They usually run 5, they just were too busy that night.

No 2 is a very good target powder..excellent for steel also..i used it in my .45 uspsa ammo and i use #5 in my 9mm uspsa ammo..
Well good to know cause I bought it just cause I had the most load data on it and it was cheap, lol!
I honestly could not tell a good powder from a bad one since this is the only stuff I've ever used.
I started thinking no one liked it cause every reloader I've spoken to uses something else.

What were you shooting ? the guy that gave us the safety briefing made a phone call telling someone they were all done bout 930. I figured it was game over.
I was shooting a Kimber 1911 in 45ACP and 22lr.
They did end at 9:30 for static steel. A couple members stayed and just did
some casual shooting/drills and let me join them. Lot's of fun.
-
What powder are you loading with?
Accurate #2.
Never bothered investing in a chrono cause I never
thought I'd get that into it, but apparently I'm
headed that way...
-
It was a large turnout. I thought they'd only have 10 guys or something as usual.
I was bummed out that we could only do two stages. But afterwards they said if
I wanted to stay just to do some random practice drills/sessions I could. Three
of us ended up staying and it was a lot of fun. Got to practice a lot of things
you don't normally get to do at a range or at a match and got to try out a Glock
17 which I was thinking bout buying. It's a good crowd up there.
Sorry I missed some of you fellow members up there, next time I'll PM you guys so we
know who is who. Between shooting and football on a big screen TV a man can kinda
get lost in his own world.

I got to handle a Performance Series S&W today at a local match and
that trigger was unbelievable. If there was a such thing as
a hair, double action, trigger this would be it.
Is the Pro Series trigger about the same or is it still pretty far
off? And if so is it hard to get it to the Performance Series pull?
If DA triggers were like that I'd not mind DAO at all even in a Semi
auto.

Got to test out my loads tonight and they worked fine. Nothing felt hot at all.
I actually accidentally mixed the rounds where I used 5.3gr and 5.7gr and I could
not tell. Then again it was a steel match and sometimes you're not even paying
attention to that stuff cause you're so focused on the targets.
-
Use data for 200gr SWC bullets.
Yup,that's pretty much what I did while referencing with
other hollow point data. Thanks.
Gonna use them for steel tonight so we'll see.
-
I'm going. I using my Kimber and if allowed I'd like to shoot 22lr as well with the conversion. If not then I'll
shoot center fire only.
Usually the matches are not super long. USPSA started at 6:30pm and ended around 9pm and that was with breaking
down stages and setting up the qualifier.

No pierced primers from what I've seen, but at the same time I do pick up surrounding brass near my booth
that was not fired from my gun. Even still I have not noticed anything strange from the brass I know was
mine. But good to know what to look out for.
I've not found load data specific to 200gr hollow points, plated, (I use Berry's). I based it off lead
data and 230gr hollow point data and tried to find a medium. I know that's not the best way, but couldn't
find other data. I do want to get another load manual though.

I'm not talking about a double charge. I think that would be very obvious. What I'm talking about is more if
your rounds have an OAL that is too short and there is too much pressure in the load. Or perhaps you are actually
loading above the max load/never exceed load by a little bit (a grain or two perhaps). When you fire the rounds
will you immediately be able to tell that they are too hot? And what kind of damage would this do to the gun?
I'm asking because I load at the start load and don't go much beyond that. Some of my recent 45 ACPs are closer
to the max load and are on the short side (not below min OAL but still closer to the min cause they are hollow points).
I have shot some and from what I can they feel like factory loads. If I'm running to short too hot will I know right away?

Is this a monthly/weekly shoot? Can't make tonights but really want to go.

just sucks that .380 round go for almost as much as .40, that's y i rarely shoot mine
That's what I was gonna say. I think it's kind of stupid .380 costs so much. I think
it'd be fun to own a pocket pistol, but not if it's going to cost that much to shoot.
And I agree, the new pocket 9mm guns are not a lot bigger. If I were to get a pocket/carry
gun it'd be a small, single stack, 9mm.
S&W 625 JM or PC?

I'm not a revolver expert by any means, but I have recently felt a Performance Center trigger
and a Pro Series trigger and the Performance Series is out of this world. Not even close. I'd
imagine compared to a standard non-Pro version the difference is even more staggering. I say
go Performance Series if it won't break the bank.
