Just to clarify, we were only doing one shell at a time. So in this case when you open the chamber you should do so
with a good amount of force correct? Because I was telling them to use a lot of forward motion when chambering the
round. But I wasn't really telling them make sure to rack it back fully and with force. Probably because I was more
focused on just getting the empty shell out.

I know this is a term for handguns, but let me explain. I was out at Ft. Dix today on the trap range.
I had three guests, all of whom were very new to shotguns (to be honest I'm pretty new myself).
Every time they used it and went to extract the shell it would get stuck and they would have to
struggle with it a bit before they could properly pump the shotgun Every time I used it it would
never happen.
The only thing I could notice is their stance was not a rigid as mine. I was a little "loose" I guess
you could say in that they didn't put as much as their body and weight into the butt of the shotgun.
Would this induce some type of malfunction much like how if you loosely hold a handgun it can
cause it to not cycle properly?
The shotgun in question is a Remington 870 that is very new (less than 100 rounds through it).
Shells used were Remington Target loads (7 1/2 I believe).
Thanks for your help.

Its all about threat levels. If your goal is to keep the kids (and the teenage "opportunistic" thieves) out of there, this cabinet is more than sufficient - they aren't going to even try to open the door.
If you are trying to protect from the typical 'smash and grab' thief, its also more than sufficient - it will slow them down considerably, and they want to get "in and out" as fast as possible.
If you are trying to protect against an organized bunch that is bent on getting into your stuff; well, it depends. Is the typical thief going to have enough time to cut thru the lock/door without interruption, or enough time, ability and cover to rip it off the wall and carry it to a waiting pickup? If so, then you need a bigger/heavier safe. If not, then one of the metal cabinets will suffice.
Glad you pointed this out. Kinda annoys me when people see a safe like this and then recommend getting a $5000-$10,000 safe instead.
Not everyone has that kind of money and to suggest such a thing is a little impractical.

Maybe the bear chocked on the casing.
LOL!!!

Ate these out on the market?

Man, that's a great deal assuming the rifle has good components which I heard PSA is pretty good.
I agree a stock upgrade is in order, but that's not a huge deal.

20k limit or 2k limit? Anyone buy 20k at once?

I did this quite a few times to some friends with blanks while shooting clays. It was even better because we were betting money. I was nice enough to give their money back to them after I told them. Now they will not let me load their guns for them when there is money on the line. I had to load their guns because the blank shells were much lighter in weight than a real shell.
That's pretty funny, haha!

Wow this was a really interesting read. Crazy how the differences in burn rates and characteristics affect the way the bullet leaves the gun.

Just wondering if you can use black powder as opposed to smokeless powder
for common handgun loads like 9mm, 40, 45acp. Or is it only for certain rounds
guns?
-
I never had an issue with Ultramaxx. Shot about 750 or rounds of it in both 45 and 9mm.
Freedom Munitions is pretty much like new. That stuff is very consistent.

You can get a replacement frame from Glock for $100 if it turns out a chopped frame isn't your cup of tea.
That would take a permit correct?
-
I agree with the rest.

You guys are talking about the free ones if you have Prime right?

HK 45 Tactical OD

Hey guys. Just getting a general consensus from the local community on handguns
that people are still struggling to find in stock. Seems like ARs/AKs are available now as are accessories.
I see ammo coming back in stock more often. So are there still some handguns that are a tough find?
If you are still having problems finding a particular handgun list them here. I'm interested in knowing, maybe
others are as well.
Here's my list:
S&W 627 Pro Series. Kinda tough to find before the scare, but now pretty much impossible.
Springfield XDS: I did see a couple for sale on the forums lately so that is a good sign, but still a tough find.
Glock 19 Gen 4: I have heard of a few places having them, but still not seeing them in my area.
Also just to add to the thread if someone lists something and you've seen it it'd be nice to know where.
Thanks!

Maybe they're union?

Can you put a 23 slide on a 19 and vice versa? Does the ejector have to be swapped? Anyone know?

I was basing it off the GSSF program, but I guess retail is different as I see them offered with 3 mags (gen 4).

Goes directly to you. I went through it with Kimber.
When sending do as the above have mentioned. Search "firearms" on FedEx/UPS website.
They outline the details.
-
They'd have sensitive primers? like military ammo does? Uhh no. These guys are going to be doing administrative loads and what not. THe primers will not be super sensitive.
What does that have to do with the primer? The firing pin is not out when doing an administrative load. A more sensitive primer is more likely to go off when
fired is my point. And when I say more sensitive I'm comparing a Federal to the likes of a CCI. I'm not saying the go off when dropped.

Off-duty = Yes... Retired = No
Because as everyone knows a retired cop will only face retired criminals...

What's the "Sight Picture" on a Shotgun?
in Shotguns
Posted
Total newb here to shotguns. I don't even know if there really is a "sight picture" for a shotgun.
But what am I supposed to see or not see when I'm aiming for a target? Specifically a clay
bird.
When I shoot trap the targets seem to break when the bead is right under the bird. So I
see the target at all times. I've also heard of people covering the bird as well. This never
works for me though.
Is there any correct way or does it kind of vary based on person, choke, barrel, etc.?
