  1. I'd add that it depends on the cultural context.

In NJ, gun ownership defines you as a member of the enemy class. Even if you start off non-idealogically, being unjustly branded a pariah will tend to make you idealogical. Just like the ongoing legislative travesty has woken up and radicalized many apathetic gun owners.

OTOH, if you own a gun in a place like TX, it's no more idealogical than owning a car.

Very good point.  I guess because being against gun ownership/2nd Amendment is a clear cut political/ideological view I assumed

the opposite would be as well.  Someone anti gun in Texas... now that would be weird, but I'm sure it exists.  it's almost like the opposite

of a pro gun guy in NJ.

There are many, including gun owners, that don't differentiate between right and privilege.

Just because someone owns a gun doesn't make them ideological of philosophical.

Oh to clarify I didn't mean if you own a gun you are "ideological or philosophical".  Just

that you hold a certain stance.  Of course the degree to which those beliefs are held

would vary from one individual to another.  But I didn't mean you buy a Glock and you

    become Socrates, haha.

  2. The 2nd Amendment is so controversial especially as of late that
I view it as more than just the act of owning a firearm. I view it
as a political stance and/or an ideology. I don't think you
can merely state that you own guns and that is the end of it. I
feel if you own guns then it implies you believe in other ideas and
specific stances on self defense, the governments role in society,
etc. If you are against gun ownership/the 2nd Amendment then likewise
I feel it also implies you will have a specific political stance and a set
of ideologies. I would say the only person who would maybe be
neutral is the one that does not own a firearm just out of not being
interested and really doesn't care if others do or do not.

What is your stance on the subject? Is it just owning a gun? Or
do you think it is much more than that?

  3. When I use Tula or Wolf primers I get about 10-15 light strikes per 1000 round with my Glocks. . Hammer fired pistols maybe 3-5 per 1000.

Striker fire pistols can be more suseptable to ammo issues as noted above. But I imagine LE ammo would have very sensitive primers. I'm no expert though.

  4. Yes it's 3 mags and that means a lot more these days when mags are tough to find.

I do believe the sub compacts only come with two.

I like the Gen 4 look and feel better. The large mag release is a big pluse in my opinion.

  5. I don't have experience CCW with any pistol (for obvious reasons).  I'll tell you that I notice the size/weight

of the 1911 even during a match with a good belt/holster.  Granted it's OWB but even then it's not subtle.

Personally I love the 1911, but if I could carry I don't think that would be my go to gun.  I'd want something

that disappears as much as possible.  The size and the weight of the 1911 would be too much FOR ME.

There are plenty of people who do it everyday.  I think you should get a CCW style holster and where it

around the house a few days and see what you think.

  6. I got a new camera and decided to get some detailed video of my Glock 34 Gen 4.

I didn't like the look of the 34 at first but it's starting to grow on me.  There's something

really nice about its simplicity.  Definitely shoots better than it looks!

    Hope you enjoy the vid.

    And just for fun:

  7. Other than the HK knives which has some built by Benchmade I believe a lot of the Gun Name brand knives are kinda crappy.

You could do a lot better. I don't know about the XD knife particularly. My advice is to find out if it's manufactured by a reputable

    company first.

  8. ..... Sorry....... But maybe....

Just seems so odd that its not even believable.....

Either way..... If true best of luck but you left quite a bit out.....

I answered the questions people had here, that was that.

I'm surprised this is the response, well it is only your response.

But given today's climate around the 2nd Amendment I'd think

people would want to know this information and not simply

    dismiss it.

  9. Leads me to believe........... et es CACA DE TORO !

Hmmmmmmmmmmm you shoot at Dix, but Bergen and NYPD questioned you......... odd to say the least especially since you work and live in NJ...I assume NOT bergen County...??mistaken identity.....??

There is still quite allot left out of the conversation ........

Have you been to NY recently...have family there....where from NY....etc....again too much unknown...

You think I just made this whole thing up? Seriously? Really?

  10. I get the point he's making, but it's not a true test. No one would ever apply that much, firstly.

The second thing is it's one test on one Glock in a very short period of time. Plus the environment

is pretty clean. Introduce some real world elements like dirt and debris and I'm sure it will yield

    different results.

That's the problem with these one off tests posted on youtube. They are too confined and too

narrow that it only proves that in that one instance with that one gun it succeeded or failed.

The best ones are when people compare one Glock to one 1911 and the 1911 fails and then they

conclude that the Glock is the superior firearm. Whether it is or isn't is not the point, but that is

certainly not proof of anything other than that ONE Glock outperformed that ONE 1911 at that

ONE moment in time. That's not how statistics or true testing works.

    Case in point this video:

  11. Got to test a couple of lights I had. A First Light Tomahawk and

an Elzetta M60. This video is just the M60 being used. Honestly

I don't know how to shot with a light so these were just a couple

of my buddies I filmed who had more experience. Still it was a lot

of fun. It's too bad there are not more places you can practice

    this type of shooting.

If you're considering a light this is a great option. Built like a tank,

very bright, and you can add different accessories to suit your needs.

  12. I'll be teaching a new shooter how to handle a pistol. The main purpose is not to shoot for recreation or sport, but

rather in the event it is needed for self defense. In this scenario what handgun of the following do you think I should

    stick to?

    Beretta 92G

    Glock 26/34

    Sig P228

1911 (I'm already kinda against this, unless you guys say otherwise)

This is all i have for handguns accessible to me at the moment. I also have access to an AR and Rem 870. I kinda

feel like that is a bit much for a newb, but again please interject if you disagree.

    Appreciate your thoughts.

  13. I got a buddy in Baltimore who works at an FFL that is getting them in regularly. He LOVES it. I want one so bad,

but I just hate the fact that I may not be able to shoot it due to ammo costs. If the 9mm kit comes out soon then I'm

    on board for sure.

  14. Super accurate (match barrel) and very well built. Beautifully machined aluminum forend. Shoots both 308 and 7.62 (although different points of impact). Very fun gun. Makes a cool "sproing" noise every time you fire it because of the recoil spring. Is easy to take down into three components (stock, grip/receiver and barrel). It has fluted chambers, which makes for excellent extraction. I have heard varying reports on what that does to brass reloadability. I never tried. The best part is... it eats shitty steel cased ammo with no problems. These days, Wolf/Tula is as close as you get to a bargain in 308. If you have the scratch, I highly recommend one. I only sold mine to buy a fancy shotgun and because I have another 308 autoloaders I like a little better (i.e. a CMP M1 Garand in 308).

Ira at Legend Firearms has a few on hand. PM me if you need his contact info. He sent an e-mail out this very evening about having a few. Coincidence? :)

Haha, I asked cause I always sees he has them for sale and I got his e-mail just now.

How does it mess up the brass exactly?

How heavy is it compared to an AR or AK?

  15. Tell me more about these rifles. I see them everywhere but no one

ever seems to talk about them. Are they good, bad, accurate, reliable?

What are the pros and cons? How are they compared to the AK and AR

    platform?
