  1. 2C:39-6g All weapons being transported under paragraph (2) of subsection b., subsection e., or paragraph (1) or (3) of subsection f. of this section shall be carried unloaded and contained in a closed and fastened case, gunbox, securely tied package, or locked in the trunk of the automobile in which it is being transported, and in the course of travel shall include only such deviations as are reasonably necessary under the circumstances.

Other than that the firearm(s) must be unloaded, ammo is not mentioned. If it is locked in a trunk, nothing else is mentioned. If it is not locked in a trunk, it must be cased in some fashion, locked is not specified.

Not legal advice, just what I do. Handguns in the plastic boxes they came in, rifles in cases. No mags in any gun. All mags loaded, mags + ammo in zippered bag along with the rest of the small shooting supplies.

Technically under 39-6g you could have a handgun in the box it shipped in on your passenger seat with a loaded mag in said box, but not in the gun, so long as you are driving to/from range/etc.

  2. In IE open the developer console (f12 i think it is) and set it to IE9 or IE8 mode. Perhaps IE10 and the site don't play nicely together. Wouldn't be the first time a browser wasn't written to the standards, assuming the page written to the standards...

Also look at Chrome or Firefox, they tend to work better with more things, except sites that were written to work with IE7 and previous.

  3. Please keep us updated on your progress. I'm interested to see how it works out for you.

How wet/dry do you typically run the AR? I generally wipe down the cam pin, firing pin, and bolt with breakfree LP before I re-assemble the BCG. They seem to be the moving parts.

I think the XMJ193 ball has a ballistic coefficient of about 0.250. So with muzzle velocity of 3290, 55 grain and cross-wind of 10mph for the past few days, that's aboutt 1" of windage.

    :hunter:

It's more than just the bc of the bullet that effects accuracy. Consistency in powder load, bullet weight, grumpy tension, seating depth, case volume...

  4.

Biden, doing a Google+ “hangout” to promote President Barack Obama’s proposals for battling gun violence, had been asked whether a new assault weapons ban might infringe on the Second Amendment rights of those who want one “as a last line of defense” to fend off looters after “some terrible natural disaster.”

“Guess what? A shotgun will keep you a lot safer, a double-barreled shotgun, than the assault weapon in somebody’s hands [who] doesn’t know how to use it, even one who does know how to use it,” the outspoken vice president, a shotgun owner himself, replied. “It’s harder to use an assault weapon to hit something than it is a shotgun. You want to keep people away in an earthquake? Buy some shotgun shells.”

Really Joe? Then why do your Secret Service agents carry MP5s and FN P90s instead of coach guns....

I mean, they keep you safer, even if you are trained to use an "assault weapon," right?

  5. my training was 7 days and we never even saw a live animal i am pretty sure anyone elce can do what i do

I, and the vast majority of people, have no "training" in dealing with aggressive animals. I'm sure as hell not going to try to figure out how to restrain a dog or group of dogs that is attacking a person. All that would accomplish is putting myself at a greater risk of being injured as well as increasing the time that the victim was being mauled. Retrieve firearm, manuever to gain a clear shot, dispatch animals as appropriate.

  6. So why we're on the topic of gripes against what you can and can't do anymore. I am a Union member (not gonna mention local #) well my local strongly supports Obama and they had us out to campaign for him. If you refused you would be charged 250$ for not supporting your local and the president. Anyhow I took the 250$ charge

This is legal how? Smells like extortion.

  7. I've seen BB pistols in various Walmarts down south that don't you don't load with magazines. Rather, you load through the side of the pistol and the BB's are stored inside the slide. If it could hold more than 15 BB's, would that be considered illegal in NJ? Or is that fine as it doens't have a detachable magazine?

The courts ruled a long time ago that the nj awb is only applicable to real firearms, not BB guns. I'll fund the case when I get home.

  8. I respectfully disagree........I personally believe we are where we are due to the failure of the last twenty or so years...if not more...

I have always said that the majority of americans are middle of the road type...what you have are the far left and far right loons dictating policy.....

The failure of proper negotiations over the years and the absolutist policy of both sides has put us where we are.....at this point in time.

If a more managed solution were put forth at the beginning of this debate, if cooler heads prevailed over the years, we *might* not be where we are now...

You can argue the minutia of what *I* think is reasonable...I can argue what you think is reasonable and those are FAIR arguements....what is not fair is to have a thread like this one because it is over the top ridiculous....

NO ONE in this day and age is going to be part of any armed insurrection....NOT GONNA HAPPEN...

The problem with "middle of the road" is that the road is always shifting. If today 20 round mags, a national FID with yearly qualifications, and NICS for all transactions is acceptable to the "average" American, think about what will be an "acceptable" concession in another 30 or 40 years when you have an entire generation that knows nothing different. It would have been completely unthinkable to ban full auto weapons in 1934. However 52 years later with the vast majority of people never knowing of anything different than the NFA, the registry was successfully closed.

Likewise in the 30's the idea of needing permission from the government to buy a gun would have been unfathomable. In 68 we were OK with the government making sure that you weren't a felon/mentally unstable/etc. In 2013 we are (seriously) talking about needing a certification to buy a gun - requiring a positive action in order to be allowed to exercise an inalienable human right. In 2050 will we be talking about whether or not we should have a "good reason" to buy a gun? Sure, it will start like NJ is, where "target practice" or "all lawful purposes" is a good reason. In another 50 years will "target practice" no longer be a good enough reason to buy another gun when you already have 5 guns you can target shoot with?

If we, the law abiding citizens who have done nothing wrong and seek only to exercise our natural rights and enjoy a centuries old tradition continue to "compromise" whenever an evil person does an evil thing, our right will surely die, and it will be us that have killed it.

  9. Hi Joe !

    Thanks for asking....

I am sure some will see these as very negative and giving up....LOL far from it !

    1) National Firearms ID card

    2) National CCW

    3) Certification course in order to obtain # 1/ #2

    4) Yearly proficiency check and re-certification

    5) NO face to face sales without NICS check

    6) magazine limit to 20 rounds in rifle and pistol nationwide

are just some of the things that I see as being a valid middle ground that preserves our rights and satiates those that would look to take them all...but what do I know...I have no balls according to some....... ha !

Oh yeah and also please feel free to ask my WHY on any of those and I will be happy to expand upon them..........

There can be no "compromise." Say we "compromise" with the antis and we have your list as the new laws. WHEN some asshole shoots up a school again, and make no mistake, it WILL happen again, say he has a ID card and/or CCW. The antis will say "See? He had a FID and a CCW!! The requirements aren't strict enough yet, X group shouldn't be allowed to have guns!" And so we "compromise" again, with only some of the people whom the antis wish to disenfranchise losing their rights.

No FTF without NICS? The next asshole to shoot up a school bought his gun FTF, and he may or may not have had a NICS check done, no way to prove it right? Since NICS records have to be destroyed within 24 hours. The antis clamor for no more FTF at all, all sales MUST use an FFL.

20 round limits? The next asshole uses 20 round mags. "That's far too many bullets!! Look how many innocent children he was able to kill. If he had 10 round magazines some of these children would still be alive today!" And so we "compromise" again and have 15 round magazines.

If we "compromise," we give up our rights, WITH OUR BLESSING. A lamb and a wolf are discussing dinner plans, does the lamb say "I'm getting a little fat, could you trim off some of my belly?"

  10.

You don't have to go through a NJ FFL if you are purchasing in person! You can buy a long gun in another state from a person or an FFL in that state. F2F must go through an FFL in that state or be shipped to an FFL in NJ so a NICS can be run.

You have no problems with the air rifle you purchased in NY as long as you transport it in NJ in accordance with NJ laws.

Handguns (BB, BP or Modern) must go through a NJ FFL...

Air guns and black powder are not "firearms" under the GCA, therefore the federal requirement to follow both states laws when purchasing firearms out of state does not apply.

You can buy a air rifle or pistol at Walmart once you leave nj...

  11. So we know around 2.7 million new guns were sold in December, and around 19.5 million in 2012. How many have been sold so far in January?

My guess is that it BLOWS away the record from last month already. Anybody have any numbers. I heard somewhere that it may be as much as four to five times higher. If true, to put it in perspective, that is 2/3rds of last years told in only 6% of the year...mind boggling. Now, I would say that there is no possible way that is true, but then again, you can't find any guns, ammo, or AR magazines anywhere.

Can someone please find out an actual estimate?

FBI won't release NICS info for January until a week or so into Feb.

  12. The existing 600yd range at Cumberland Riflemen is equipped with pits and operates like Tony describes.

The new 1000 yd range is planned for South Jersey Shooting Club in Winslow, but is still more than a year away from reality.

Isn't there technically a "road" right behind the current berm that they have to get permission to build over or something?
