  1. njplinker,

also remember that with certain makes / models you can opt for a .40 cal chambered gun instead (such as the Glocks or M&Ps) and simply buy a conversion barrel (and magazines) to practice with less expensive 9mm ammo. Then you have a .40 and 9mm in each gun. The conversion barrels are relatively inexpensive (maybe about $120-160) but that buys you alot of versatility and then you can convert back to .40 cal for home defense with good ammo. Just something to think about. I myself am getting several of the M&Ps, two PRO models and the compact. I'm going to get conversion barrels for two of the guns (the 5" barrel and the 3.5" barrel) and a bunch of magazines that will all be interchangable. Plus I may also get a 9mm PPQ too. The PPQ is a great pistol.

  2. If I wanted to begin to shoot Trap / Skeet, as a lefty shooter what shotguns might you recommend I start off with?

I realize that Trap / Skeet / Sporting Clays are all different but is there one shotgun that does it all or am I better off with one gun (the right gun) for one selected sport? Mfgr and model number would be appreciated, as well as any other choices like gauge, bbl length etc. too. I figure this forum is probably the best place to start off as anywhere else.

    Thanks!

Thanks for that. However I'm waiting on my PPs (should be soon) and besides that I'm trying to do a four gun package deal (one a month over four months) to include the SW1911 too. Have put my want list out via the "Firearm Purchase request" at the top of the forum and have just started to get a few responses. One guy said the SW1911 was not available to buy while another has one on order, albeit at top dollar I feel. Waiting on more to respond as we speak. I think somone will come up with the right deal at the right price. But yes, that's the gun!

  4. A "lefty" 1911? That's for someone with money to burn. Didn't see anything that tooted my whistle, sorry.

I'm a lefty and that didn't float my boat either. Never mind the price for it. I'd buy a righty 1911 with an "ambi" safety and be happy with that. In fact I'm trying to locate a S&W1911 Pro Series 9mm right now.

  5. if you want gun laws changed then you need to join the NJ2AS or NRA or SAF or all of them, then contribute some funds so they can do the work, it takes lots of cash and members for things to start to change in our favor.

Honestly, what does the NRA do for us in the State of New Jersey? Yea I'm a member but I just don't see them working for us in this State. Am I wrong?

  6. Question of when, not If. I'm surprised there's no way to vent it, or something. I think that an expensive project to try and avert that would be money better spent than on some of the stuff the government spends money on.

The Government couldn't extinguish an underground coal fire that is still burning today (since 1962) and has forced the relocation of an entire town. (Centralia, PA)

Remember, we're talking about OUR U.S. Government here, the idiots who spend $1000 for a $29 true temper shovel and then jamb it right up our azz.

  7. giantsfan i have used the price request and have gotten price that no other shop could touch. im in sales and absolutely understand what the vendors mean by getting alot of requests for pricing for something they have no intention on purchasing. if joe a sends in a request every other day for different firearm yeah im ignoring the request as well. i have never giving my phone and will get response via email or pm. it wont cost you anything why not? and if i can save $300 on a gun its worth me driving 2 hours for it right?

I can't disagree and I have already sent my "buy" list to the forum vendors via the broadcast list. I am confident one of them will earn my business.

  8. Maybe the guboner had mexican for dinner...

Now that made me snort soda through my nose....LOL

Seriously though, this is certainly interesting and much more so considering that several of our own forum members have heard this noise first hand. The unknown is always a bit scary and honestly, it was just a bit to me. Yet one of my 20s daughters blew it right off as a hoax. Go figure..
