  1. i went through the posts, and saw 14-19 days, and up to 28 days, for a nics approval.

does everyone realize that this means it will be almost impossible to use 3 permits within 90 days?

The majority of buyers are going to have to apply for renewals, and i'd say with the current nics delays, there will only be enough TIME to use a max of 2 permits within the final 90 day timeframe. local store purchases or gunbroker buys will have to be made fast to allow for shipping & nics processing.

I got my three permits on May 9, made my first purchase on May 14 and still waiting for NICS. I have two more handguns on order and I realize that unless some significant headway is made resolving the NICS delay situation that I will have to request an extension on one of my permits. That said, when I picked up my permits the clerk said that if I need an extension that I should come in at least two weeks before the expiration date.

  2. I wouldn't bother if I were you. The multigun exemption has some significant requirements not to mention the fact that you need to list all the firearms, serial numbers, seller's information, firearm information and each firearm listed must have a "Seller/Transferor Certification" form completed. The application needs to be approved by the Superintendent of the State Police and is subject to the same reviews and delays that a pistol permit is subject to. So unless you can list in detail each firearm you wish to acquire including the seller's information and provide the certifications for them and if you are willing to wait who knows how long, it's not really a good option. I only ever saw this form in action once and it was for the transfer of 6 handguns from an estate following the death of the owner. The form took forever to get approved, it did get approved but if I remember correctly it took at least 8 to 10 weeks and that was before all the current nonsense.

Thanks, I had no idea what was involved. Guess I'll just go for an extension if I need it.

  3. Seems there are already a lot of illegal things being performed...and I'm sure these felons are going through FFL's and NCIS to get their firearms, 'eh?

I didn't understand the point he was trying to make. He mentioned that 809 firearms were confiscated so far this year from drug dealers, gang bangers, and other assorted felons.

  4. Just watching a news conference held by the Chicago Chief of Police. He was talking about mandatory prison sentences for those that illegally own firearms, went on to talk about convicted felons recently caught possessing firearms that have committed homicides, and those murdered by convicted felons using firearms. After that he emphasized that despite what gun advocate groups say, neither Chicago nor Illinois have strict gun laws and said that stricter gun control laws are needed in addition to mandatory prison sentences of those caught illegally in the possession of a gun.

I thought that Chicago has very strict firearms laws as does Illinois.

This is is response to the young girl that was gunned down by a gang banger shooting at other gang bangers and the upcoming visit by Obama.

  5. I was looking at an interactive map that shows the percentage of murders that involved a firearm by state and took a look at the FBI Uniform Crime Report data. The websites are :

    http://www.guardian....-map-statistics

    http://www.fbi.gov/a...us/cjis/ucr/ucr

A quick look showed that in 2011 NJ had a greater percentage (71%) of murders involving guns than Texas (64%). Illinois came in at 83%. So the states with the strictest gun control laws have a greater percentage of gun related murders that the free state of Texas. I wonder how many of these homicides involved handguns that are not on anyone's AWB list?

Do politicians ever look at statistics? Like Rahm Emanuel said "You never want a serious crisis to go to waste. And what I mean by that is an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before".

  6. I decided that I would try to get rid of some end shake in my SP101 so I bought the extractor tool and .004" shims for an SP101 from Brownells. Takiing apart the SP101 and removing the extractor using the tool was a breeze. I was already to install a shim and I can not figure out where it should fit. The hole in the shim is only big enough for the "center rod pin" to fit through. I checked that I've received the correct part number from Brownells and they are the ones for a SP101.

I can't find any info on how to install these and I'm hoping someone can help.

  7. Taken from the NJ2AS Facebook.....

    EVERYONE!

On January 28, 2013 the NJ Law and Public Safety Committee will be discussing bill S2430 - Declares violence a public health crisis, recommends expansion of mental health programs, recommends federal adoption of gun control measures, and establishes “Study Commission on Violence.” Sponsored by:

    Senator RAYMOND J. LESNIAK

    District 20 (Union)

    Senator SHIRLEY K. TURNER

    District 15 (Hunterdon and Mercer)

    Co-Sponsored by:

    Senators Whelan, Cunningham and Vitale

If you read the summary of this bill, It DOES NOT include allowing a member of the 2A community on the commission! Again, pro second amendment citizens would be ignored during talks about measures to reduce violence and firearms. Please contact your legislators today and let them know how you feel about this!

Link to the HTML version of the bill: http://www.njleg.sta...500/2430_I1.HTM

If you think stuff like this is joke, I suggest you bust out your GoogleFu and reseach how in the 90s the haters tried to push 'gun ownership' and 'gun violence' as a 'public health crisis' and the only way to deal with said crisis was to reduce gun ownership........

Fired this off to my reps plus Christie:

I am writing to you regarding Bill S2430 to establish a "Study Commission

on Violence". I do agree that violence is increasingly becoming a problem

in the United States and welcome a close look into the causes, trend, and

possible solutions. My concern is that this bill is simply a way to

increase gun control and attack the 2nd Amendment rights of the citizens

of New Jersey. My reasoning for this concern is that the committee is

missing any representation by those that are supporters of the 2nd

Amendment and thus may well submit biased recommendations that further

diminish the 2nd Amendment rights of legal and responsible firearms owners

in the state of New Jersey. Due to this lack of representation by those

that support the 2nd Amendment on the "Study Commission on Violence" I do

not support Bill S2430 and ask that you do not allow it to pass.

  8. Like we have said before their is going to be a lot more of these shootings with all the media, expect more!!

The 15 year old used a .22 caliber rifle to kill his mother, brother, and two sisters. Then grabbed an AR15 from his fathers closet and waited for his father to come home and kill him. Said he had suicidal and homicidal thoughts. Planned to reload the weapons, drive to a populated area and kill as many as he could and then be killed by police. It seems like the same scenario over again.

  9. Not to the extreme any of these proposed new bills do. I honestly don't know exactly what they do under current law.... Don't recall my doc ever saying he was called. If anyone has any insight to current procedures regarding the 'nut forms' we currently use, please advise.

SP-66 needs to be submitted when you initially apply for your FID card and for each handgun permit application. It doesn't ask for a physicians name. I would guess there are databases that they can check for admittance to a hospital and or psychiatric institution. Wonder if it is only regional or national?
