  1. I finally gave in and recently bought a gen 4 19. Im glad i did. I love it! already added a 4lb striker spring, 3.5lb connector, and a custom slide cover. I LOVE HOW MANY AFTERMARKET PARTS YOU CAN GET FOR GLOCK

  2. ive had my sr22 for a while now. about 1500 rds through it. Its definitely a fun little pistol. i shoot the cheap bulk ammo through it all of the time and it works great! only issues ive had with mine was with the blazer bulk ammo. i had a few jams with it. the remington and federal bulk has worked flawless though

  3. ok well you guys with the dumb comments and useless info that has nothing to do with the thread. thanks and have a nice day. i do have an ak variant that i do call an ak47 because thats easier than explaining that i have a sa 85m which is just like an ak47. sorry if that bothers you but thats what i do. too bad. yeah maybe i didnt know a whole lot about the rifle when i first got it. so what! i can tell you that i know alot more about it now than what any of you have had to say. way to treat another person asking a question! i take your lack of input on the topic as you really not knowing a thing about what it is or what its worth. so on that note. im done with this thread. the people that trolled should read this article. it describes what makes you do it... http://www.flayme.com/troll/

  4. Nobody is saying your rifle is illegal, The argument is wether or not the thumb hole stock is considered a pistol grip " evil feature" or not.

You may want to shut up and pay attention since this information could be important to you since it may or not be considered an " evil feature " according to state law. If you decide to add another " evil feature " to your rifle and wind up in jail because you didnt want to learn anything.

    have a nice day.

ok not once did i say or argue anything about a thumbhole stock or say anything about adding anything to the rifle! you need to go back and reread! your the one that needs to pay attention before you post!

Well if I knew the answer to the actual question I wouldn't be answering questions you didn't ask!

Gunsamerica had a nice one listed for $695, that's a start

Here's a guy in PA with a pre-ban model worth over a grand:

thank you. now we are getting somewhere. i dont know how this got so off topic but thank you for adding info to what i actually asked :)

  5. I agree with what Vladtepes is saying. The law isn't vague -- a thumbhole stock meets the criteria of a pistol grip.

I also believe that most LEO will not hassle you on that point. But you run in to the "wrong" Troop and you're going to get arrested.

Even if they drop the charges later you're looking at a few thousand in legal fees at an absolute minimum. They will not keep the rifle in a humidity controlled safe so it will be rusty if and when you get it back from evidence. A felony arrest record can also affect your livelihood if your employer or future employer has access to expunged or sealed records (itself an expensive and time consuming process)

Not that any of this has anything to do with this particular rifle :)

none of this has anything to do with this rifle! its 100% legal! im really getting sick of this thread being off topic! the gun is LEGAL!!!! i didnt ask if it was or isnt! i asked what it is worth!

  6. not sure where your going with your arguement but this gun is clearly legal from the njsp rules. i dont even know why people are still trolling! legal or illegal wasnt the question! i asked what the gun was worth! so please people! if you cant tell me what the gun is worth than keep your comments to yourself! i know for a fact this gun is legal. you trying to say it isnt just makes you look like an idiot! now lets get back to the topic! whats is worth?

  7. http://www.njsp.org/...title13ch54.pdf

Click that link and scroll down to page 4 or 5, it will have the law on what an assault rifle is. A rifle that can accept detachable magazines and has at least 2 of the following: blah blah blah.

Not to sound rude but I would not trust your local range either. It's surprising how much ranges or gun shops don't know when it comes to firearm legalities. And when they don't know, they usually start talking out of their rear ends.

cool thanks for the link. just proves the gun IS legal

  8. Maybe you guys should stop flaming on him when all he asked was what it would be worth, not whether it's legal or illegal.

I will say it looks legal though, there is only 1 'e' feature on it.

Oh, and I wouldn't rely on your brother being a cop as a legitimate reason as to whether it's legal or not though. A lot of cops don't know much about firearms, especially legalities of firearms. Just saying..

thanks man. all i was trying to do is find out what it was worth. i do rely on my brother on being a reliable source though because he is very savy around guns and gun laws. ive had him look up stuff in the statutes before. when he isnt sure about something i call my range and they said everything is legal on this also.

  9. Funny thing about thumb through stocks is... Several ffls I have spoke to will order a saiga 12 and install one on.it since "its legal" I haven't gone foward yet, kinda feel its illegal

thumbhole has got to be legal if a full out pistol grip is. every ar and ak i see in nj has a pistol grip with fixed or pinned stock. nj law only will allow you to have an adjustable stock and pistol grip if its a pump shotgun. otherwise stock has to be fixed/pinned. this gun is legal. no flash suppressor, fixed stock, 5rd mags. if you say its ilegal post the link that says it isnt. everything else is here say. beside this thread is meant to find out value not if its legal or not. there is no doubt in my mind its legal. my brother was with me when i bought it and he is a cop

  10. I beg to differ.... NJ does not define "thumbhole stock"

they do however define pistol grip.. and that sure looks like a pistol grip to me..

yes but im pretty sure pistol grip is perfectly legal if the stock is not adjustable. all of the ars i see here have pistol grips but fixed stocks. when you buy an ar in nj with adjustable stock, they pin it so that it isnt adjustable anymore but it still has the pistol grip

  11. hey guys i went to a gun show today. i picked up an ak47 model sa 85m. made in hungary. has feg stamped on the side. its made by kbi inc. some of the things i read about them say that its a post ban gun which is no longer imported into the usa. alot of what i read also says that they are one of the best if not the best stamped ak you can buy. what do you think this is worth?

  12. Woodentoe,

You have a LOT of time to consider your purchase. When I applied for my permit in 2004 it took one year to receive the approval. I forgot that I had even applied for a permit and was startled when the state police called me.

A .22 caliber rifle and handgun are good choices for first weapons. I’ve owned my H&R .22 since 1972, and I enjoy firing today as I did as a 10 year old.

But only you can decide what feels best in your hands. Go check out some ranges that are close to you. Establishing a relationship at a range is a great first step. From there you can observe what others are shooting. You can also test fire weapons. Ultimately one will speak to you. If you’re lucky, many will.

    Enjoy the wait.

Actually by law, they only have 90 days to give you a response. many police departments have been getting sued for taking longer. if it has been longer than 90 days you can take action

  13. I just received my firearms card and pistol permit (28 days after applying) and started to build a range kit. I have my eyes and ears covered a set of ess crossbow shooting glasses with Rx frame ear muffs that fit comfortably over my eye protection 25 or 30 dbs, a cleaning kit for that just in case i need to lube or take care of an issue, and the ammo. For practice of failures i have some a-zoom training rounds(unsure if this would be a good idea to use for simulated failure) to practice at home and maybe run a failure drill at the range if safe. Any other items that I should add to a bag for just in case? I already carry a jump bag in my car for medical emergencies. The two guns I have are an fnp 40 and a savage mark ii fvxp bolt action 22lr to practice shooting at longer distances.

Slightly off topic but is there any ranges that allow shotgun use indoors in this state? I live in Woodbridge. Thank you in advance for any answers and suggestions.

    James

most indoor ranges i have been to allow shotguns. i think you have to shoot slugs though.

a marker is always a good thing to keep in your range bag. some people like to use a marker to mark their shots on the target so they can reuse the target and see where the new holes are. tape works for this as well.

Also, the fnp40 is a nice handgun. i have one of those too. thats one that i will always keep
