Roger, thanks for clarifyingI see them in shops all over the place here. Maybe there's no demand for that rifle where your shopping. They aren't in any "gray area" there are many AK platform guns that are NJ compliant and 100% legal to be sold and owned. The only ones that are banned are those with a receiver with a stamping that actually says "AK47". And obviously the NJ evil features requirements. None of the guns you will find for sale in NJ will have that roll mark. If you do find one that actually says "AK47" on the actual gun, don't buy it lol.
I remember a few years ago Ramsey outdoor used to sell ak types but I was there a few weeks ago asking about them and was told they stopped selling them because they can't make them compliant
-
whats the verdict on this? is it just the evil features game? because for the life of me i cant find any shops by me that have any ak types in stock, but is this because theyre trying to cover their own ass by not selling a "gray" item in nj? or because they cant get them in stock? or is it because of the compliance work that may be needed?

Those companies can do what they want.. This is not an Economic issue... Its an Issue of being hypocrites.Do
Don't claim to be a champion of the 2nd amendment and fighting unjust gun laws when your company is creating restrictions that don't exist.
Have you spoken to PSA or Aim about why they wont ship for example Lowers to NJ? I have and the answer was simple.
Its illegal to sell lowers to NJ. That answer is NOT acceptable since they are completely wrong.
not to throw you off your rant or anything, but i bought a palmetto stripped lower about 2 months ago without any issues
-
They look amazing, but after that Yeager video there's been nothing new. I'm hoping maybe some dealers on here might know something like maybe a ballpark release date
-
have any of you (dealers) heard any updates about these rifles? CAI first said fall 2014, but im thinking more like late jan.
Can anyone chime in? the suspense is killing me
-
Yes. Have you found or made an adapter?
I saw this and thought the idea would be interesting

Is a glock with a sig arm brace attached to it still a handgun?

Ive never had a bad experience at RTSP, my only complaint is that its like an hour drive and thats the only thing stopping me from getting a membership lol

Work gun is a Colt R0933 Commando with BFG VCAS sling and IWC 2-1 tri-glide:
2-Point attachment:
1 point using Tri-Glide:
I set it up this way because I thought I would want the ability to go to a single point sling - you know, just in case.... I have since found out that I have never been in a situation where a single point would have served me better and see no need for a single point except loaning the rifle to a wrong-hander (lefty).
I can switch shoulders just as easily as a single point, and the two point does many things a single point just can not do - like adding stability to a shooting position, or keeping the rifle from smacking me in the dick when transitioning, or keeping the rifle from smacking me in my dick repeatedly when moving after said transitioning, or keeping the rifle snug to my body when I need both hands for something else - hands on, prisoner control, buddy/first aid, etc..., or keeping my barrel out of the dirt/mud/sand/snow when going to a kneeling, and adding tension to help with some manipulations of the rifle while in non-standard shooting positions.
Here is one of my training rifles. The sling is a BFG VCAS with Paraclips. It attaches to a MOE sling point up front and an ASAP in the rear:
2-point attachment:
1-point attachment on ASAP:
Close up of 1-point w/Paraclips on ASAP:
The ASAP with VCAS and Paraclips is really my favorite setup. The ASAPs inherent ability to switch the side the sling is on the rifle makes switching shoulders - even in 2-point mode - a breeze.
I like it so much that I would put an ASAP on the work gun if I could. However, I am prohibited from removing the receiver extension to install it - as it would then be considered a "permanent" alteration to the rifle which is understandably - and unfortunately - a no-go.
The VTAC that Checko mentions is also a great sling. It is similar to the VCAS but with different slider (more of a latch than a slider) and a loose running end instead of the closed adjustment loop of the VCAS. This gives the VTAC a larger range of motion, however if your are vertically challenges like me (my buddy Pat calls it "warrior sized" ) the VTAC is just too long IMO.
i think you just sold me on the VCAS with the paraclips. thats the exact same set up i had in my head
do any if you have the VCAS sling on an 870 (or 590)?
-
Yeah, I think I can get some pics tonight for you.
I like the ASAP as well. The nice thing is now, instead of buying an MS2/3 sling and cannibalizing it for the hardware, you can just buy Magpul Paraclips for under $10 and put them on any sling you want use it with the ASAP plate.
Well shit that certainly changes things lol
-
I have my VCAS slings set up to convert if I want to with the IWC 2 - 1 tri-glide. I have never used it. Ever.
A Quick Adjust 2 point sling (VCAS, VTAC, MS1/2/3 in 2pt mode, etc...) is better in every way and for every task than a single point sling.
All. Day. Long.
Also, I should say that I have had MS3 slings in the past, and compared to the VCAS I hated them. I ended up cutting them up and using the hardware (Paraclips) on my VCAS slings.
Can you post some pictures of your set up? The only reason I'm considering the ms3 is because I already have the asap installed
-
I have a Magpul MS3 - it's not bad. My go-to sling is my Mission Spec IAS.
I like the 1pt to 2pt option. How long have you had it for? Any signs of wear? Annoyances? Etc
-
I'm looking for a sling for my ar
It's a 14.5 mid with a magpul fixed carbine stock and an asap end plate
I was looking at the magpul ms3 gen2 or the blue force vcas
Any thoughts on either?

Century isn't chrome lining the barrels on the
Century isn't chrome lining the barrels on these (I don't quite buy Yeager's "barrels are hard to chrome line"). Is this a big deal for you guys? Other than that, they like like a pretty decent deal.
. Is this a big deal for you guys?
dont the M&P15 sports have a melonite treated barrels? is that what century is ding to these new c39s?
-
biggest factor ive seen in mitigating recoil is the gas system. My 14.5 in mid-length feels a lot better then my old 16in carbine system
-
NJ legal?
all it needs is the muzzle break pinned and your good to go, that and it will probably ship without mags
-
C39v2

I think I've decided on the century arms c39, its a little over my budget (`$650) but from what I've heard its a real workhorse.
Now I'm just waiting until I have the funds LOL hopefully this should be a few more weeks
-
I hear fort lee has someone new in charge of that now
I just called them now and they said its going to be another 3-4 weeks. The woman I spoke to said they usually take 3-4 months
NJ AK Law / seeing people at the range with 'em anyway....
