  1. This is mounted on a range toy, an inexpensive Beretta neos. I have had it for about two years and this was the first problem I have had, haven't even had to change the battery. The red dot may be inexpensive, but I can hit within a 8- 10 inch circle of what I'm aiming at on a target at 25 yards, and that is the best I can do, no fault of the red dot or the pistol. Having the glue fail after about 5000 rounds through it is not suprising to me, and if the glue holds for another 5000 rounds, I'd be happy. I don't get rid of a truck when a windshield wiper fails or if it needs a new battery.

  2. Have a sig sauer sts-081 and during shooting today the rear lens fell out. It is out of warranty but I called them anyway. They said they never heard of this before and offered no solution. I don't know if it is glass or plastic, but I do know what happens to some plastics if you use crazy glue, it hazes the lens beyond repair. Anybody else ever had this problem? Any suggestions? Possibly a jewelry shop?

  3. My 2 cents.

When you buy a car you can adjust the steering wheel, seats, windshield wiper speed, temperature and a lot of other things. Bikes generally come one way, and to find the one that is perfect for you would be a tough find. Be prepared to buy after market pegs, bars or seat to make it fit you.

Watch out for people who highly recommend one brand or another that would not ride any other brand and never have. A good portion of BMW and Harley riders fall into this class. Do not use the internet for brand specific bikes, they all think their brand is the only one you should ride. Use the touring or sport touring sites. Then there are the people who say that their bike is the best they ever owned until the next year when they buy a new one, and then That is the best bike they ever owned. Some people have a tough time after spending 15-20K saying the bike sucks.

As for me, I'm retired and travel X-country by bike most every year, have done it 8 times and can't wait till next year to do it again. First time was on a BMW K1100RS ( rear end went after 175K) now riding a 2008 concours 1400 which is more comfortable, but a whole lot heavier. Good luck finding the one that fits you.

  4. You don't say what town your leaving from or the town in S.C. you're going to but if you can get to 78 west, then 81 south to 77 south to 26 east will take you into Charleston S.C. I drive to FL at least 3-4 times a year and haven't been on the northern part of 95 in years. The only city you will have trouble with is Charlotte if you hit it at rush hour, Columbia is no problem. Of course an accident or road construction changes everything. Last time I went (May) there was no real construction to speak of. As of today, S.C. has the cheapest gas on the east, so top off there.
