  1. You can get lenses that will improve your vision. They cost extra and slightly longer procedure and more pre-op testing. I just went for standard mono focal which will give near perfect distance vision.Mostly because I will still need glasses to see out of my other eye. I too was freaked out about seeing what the doctor does during operation bur fear not. All you see is undentifiable objects and colors. Sedation is mild, you can still hear and follow instruction. No pain of any kind what so ever. Cost is about $3,500 my insurance will pick about $1,500 yours may vary. If you got to pay it on your own they told me about $3,000. My benefits were changed to a higher deductable recently. Not complaining, glad I that I have them. I used Eye Associates SurgiCenter of Vineland. Every one there was super nice and a very well run place. Can't say enough good about them.

Pizza Bob is also right on the money with his info. Bottom line like he said, fear not. It's amazing the advancements they have made

  2. Just and FYI for anyone with cataracts contemplating the operation. You would not believe how quick and simple it is. Remove cataract insert new lense. Takes 15 minutes. Total time spent at surgical center was just under 2 hours. And they have a new procedure where they inject your eye with a solution so you don’t have to do eye drops before or after the operation. I can see better already and vision will continue to improve over next few weeks. Very glad I had it done.

  3. Savage 93R17TR owner here. Threw a Nikon 4.5-14x40 scope and bipod on it, and it is a fun mini 'tactical' rifle. Have put probably 1000-1250 rounds through it. Rifle is extremely accurate with all factory ammo I have tried (though it seems to like cci/hornady best). I have managed sub-moa 5shot groups at 100 yards, and I am at best an average shooter. I love the rifle and the caliber, and it is my girlfriend's favorite rifle due to the caliber. I got it because at the time, a box of 50rds was only a couple dollars more than a 20rd box of cheap bulk .223, or a few bucks less than a 20rd box of match .223.

Only major downside is cleaning, since you will very likely need a whole new cleaning kit just for that specific caliber. Also, if you are shooting paper at 100+ yards, probably going to need some seriously powerful scope/spotting scope to see those tiny holes... Availability of ammo might be a concern, I find it is hit or miss, though more available recently.

I say go for it...its a lot of fun to shoot, and a good step-up caliber for new shooters.

Thanks to all, have a Savage 93 in 22 magnum. It's the most accurate gun I own. So it would definitely be the 17 HMR version of the 93

  4. Which Dick's did you go to?  I've been to Woodbridge, South Plainfield, Princeton and East Brunswick.

The one in Woodbridge automates stuff now in the computer - it's not too bad.

Near the Hamilton Mall in Mays Landing...yeah they got this giant touch screen you use to enter all your info and then it spits out all the paper work nice and neatly printed.

  5. Dick’s had a rifle I wanted at a great price and they are not too far from me. Never bought a firearm from them before now.  All involved there were professional and competent. But dam, everything checked and double checked, pay for NIC’s before paper work is filed out, manager’s approval, walk you to register etc. Took an hour at least to complete purchase. Dam I hate to think what it would have been like if they were busy. :fie: Oh and by the way, they had 222 round boxes of Winchester 22’s in the back room. One box to a customer and only with firearm purchase.

  6. Oh, while my old Prius was great in terms of MPG it was probably the worst car ever made for snow and ice.  When going up hill in snow the traction control would cut back on power, and it would keep doing it until you came to a stop.  What was worse was there was no way to turn it off, and the car's pseudo CVT left you with but one forward gear.  The only way to get up a slippery hill was to have enough room so that you could tack up the hill the way a sailboat does when trying to head into the wind.  That was part of the reason I bought the HSH in that you can turn off the traction control and it has a real 6 speed auto transmission that you can actually manually pick gears on.

Yeah that's the only thing I don't like about my Prius. Real bad in snow. That stupid traction control that you can't turn off kicks in and it goes no where. I park when it snows and use the F150. Has a posi and good ground clearance, never been stuck. But it only get 17 mpg

  7. yours don't have hid's then........that price i mentioned? that was my cost.........

as for the bumper thing.....yea. he expected to be paying me the labor to remove it. i only charged him the time it took me to do it without removing it.......

and if i were to get anything for mileage....i kinda like the elio........

I really dig the Elio. Sure hope it actually get made. It's way cool.

  8. how much did the batteries cost ya? :)

i just did a pair of hid headlights in an 07 a few weeks back. bulbs were somewhere int he ballpark of a hundred bucks each(but that's any hid on any car), and one is supposed to remove the front bumper fascia in order to facilitate removal of the entire headlight assembly to replace those bulbs. i didn't, as i was able to fit my hands where the bulbs were though.....

I too have a 2007. Bulbs are are very fiddley to change but it's doable. Toyota dealership told me the same chit. It's a lie. No need to remove bumper and the bulbs cost $6 each at Nappa. Prior models have a different headlight bulbs that cost $47 not sure what year they changed

  9. I assure you they don't; neither of mine had any bumper stickers on them.  But then I owned a pair of 2002 which you probably would not even recognize as a Prius as they were the original model that had a trunk not a hatchback.  I bought both used in '05 and '06 when gas was cheap and nobody wanted them, I averaged better than 45 MPG with them and they were super reliable cars.  It was nice to have the trunk to keep my guns out of sight too.

X 2 at least on this this. I certainly do not fit the demographic but I too own a Prius. 101,000 trouble free miles so far and 42 MPG. For what it worth I also have an F150

  10. Sensationalism = Ratings = Revenue

    Gov't Sensationalism = Panic = Gov't Dependence

My thoughts exactly. I never depend on network news for accurate weather or any thing else for that mater. My weather app (Weather Underground) predicted 3-5 for last two days even though network news was saying 10" to 18" IMHO take your TV out to the range and use it for target practice.

  11. With the help of a couple of You-Tube videos I managed to install a Kidd auto-release bolt, swapped out trigger, mag release, charging handle & barrel band. Also added a picatinny rail and topped it all off with a new BX 15 round mag. Think I need to get another one and I will try a barrel & stock swap along with worked trigger group.  :)
