  1. You would most definitely be able to build one for less money. Getting the stripped lower now seems like a good idea since it is serialized and would hopefully be grandfathered should some sort of new ban go into effect in the future (bite my tongue).

As for shops in NJ. I purchased my AR from Arms and Ammo (forum vendor here) and his prices were really good compared to some other shops in my area. I ended up traveling over an hour away to buy my AR from him and was completely satisfied with my purchase and the pricing. He's got several listed on his website along with stripped lowers too.

  2. I never knew that dragonflys ate greenheads too. Cool pic, btw. :B:):

Dragonflys also eat Mosquitos. Dragonflys are being raised and released in high mosquito areas around the state.

    And I find it entertaining.

I had noticed a large amount of dragonflys in my back yard the past couple of years and wondered where they were coming from. On the flip side, I have noticed quite a bit less of those pesky mosquitos around my home as well. Now I know why. :good:

  3. Yup, articles like this are going to be printed/reported all over the country. Like BlueLineFish said, these reporters are just oportunitst like any other media mogul. Facts? who needs facts, fear mongering is all they are about.....whatever sells.

Oh BTW, I loved the comments you guys left for that jackass reporter....priceless.

  4. I really like my Mini 14. I have the newer version and don't see any issue with accuracy. The only real negatives I see for this gun is with regard to the magazines, as others have mentioned.....aftermarket mags are hit or miss whether they will operate well in this gun. However, using the factory mags is the only way to be certain there will be no feeding issues but, you'll pay dearly for them compared with the less expensive aftermarket counterparts.

Now with that being said, I think a good alternative to the Mini 14 is the Kel Tec SU16. I might have gotten one of these instead of the mini had I known about them (heck, I still might, LOL). They seem to get pretty good reviews and are similar in accuracy but less expensive. I do think that the Ruger mini has better build quality overall which is what you would be paying extra for. A big advantage IMO is that the SU16 takes regular AR15 style mags which are plentiful and a lot less expensive that Ruger mags. I have an AR also, so this would have been a double bonus in that I could've used the same mags for both guns. Anyway, just something else to think about.

  5. Guess I'll be heading to Florida if that time ever comes then.

But really, do I see this passing this year? No. To put it more bluntly, Hell No. The stipulation that ALL countries have to be in agreement is what will kill this thing in the end. Because there will be that one country that says "fugg you!" to the UN, and doesn't vote to pass it. It could be next year, the year after that, hell, it could never get off the ground. But if it does, I expect blood to be shed over it, no doubt about it.

I agree, maybe not here in the PR of NJ or Ca, but when they move to the southern and midwest states....watch out, LOL.

I believe that is this ever passed, there would be a rash of gun owners who would smash in their doors, ransack their homes and report that all their guns were stolen? Just saying!

    Ha ha, me included.

Best part is those assholes put Iran on the council of nations voting on this. The UN is trying to take us down. It's so obvious but put just stand there and act like the UN is the greatest thing going.

Its unbelievable, Iran of all countries. The UN doesn't work (for the purpose it was founded), and never will. Its a joke and all of the countries know it. Its an exercise in futility (aka circle jerk), plain and simple.

  6. I currently have an ACE Skelton Stock & I want to move to a collapsible stock, but in NJ they need to be pinned & purchasing one not pinned is illegal....So how do I get it pinned before it gets shipped to me?

Is there a problem with the Ace skeleton stock? I'm asking because I was seriously considering getting one for my AR and now you have me thinking.......

  7. Two new ones coming in. I'll let you know if they are redesigned.

Hmmmm, after reading this I'm getting that strange feeling again........the feeling that makes me want to open up my wallet.

  8. Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. I gotta say, a couple of those avatars are quite "interesting" :heat:

It's good to see more people from Cape May County joining. Greetings from Swainton.

Talk about a small world.....I'm in the Green Creek area.

  9. Thanks for your replies and hope you guys had a great 4th also. Hmmmmmm, I was hoping for some good news about 15 round mags, LOL. I have done a lot of searching on the net but have come up empty with regard to 15 round mags for these guns. I suppose I'll have to go with option #2 and start e-mailing different shops to see if I can get a FFL to acquire and perform the modification on the 20 round mags for me. Though I realize that a lot are squeamish about performing the mods, so that cuts down the field considerably. The last option would be attempting it myself (out of state of course). But with limited mechanical ability coupled with the expense of the Ruger mags, it would be a crap shoot on the "chance" that I could do it right without buggering up a mag or two.

If I am able to find some or someone who is willing to perform the modification, I'll definitely post back with the info.

    Thanks again.

  10. I would prefer Ruger factory 20 round mags that were made NJ compliant since it can be hit or miss with aftermarket mags for these guns. Needless to say, I'm not real happy with the 10 round mags and don't even ask about the 5's, LOL. Does anyone know where I would be able to puchase these (15/20's) or suggestions for shops that could do the modifications? There seems to be several options for the AR15 variants, but none that I can find for the Mini.

Thanks for any assistance you can offer.

    Mark

  11. Hello everyone. I've been lurking here for a couple of months and decided to finally come out of the closet (so to speak, LOL) and sign up. Anyway, I've been gaining a lot of valuable info here and looking forward to interacting with the forum members and just wanted to say hello.
