  1. thanks everyone! i picked up my 1911 r1s at bullethole in belleville. great piece. i love it. it's like a collectors piece to me. shot another 200 rounds through it yesterday. one thing i did notice is it got hot after a while. (say 100 rounds or so) understandable, but my question is, at what point should i let her cool down before throwing a few more rounds through her. i don't want to damage the gun, or even worst, hurt myself because i was firing her while she was hot. if i had two guns, it would be easier to let her cool down... hmmm... that would be the best remedy... although expensive, but none-the-less the best remedy thanks again!
  2. hi guys. i just picked up my first gun. it's a remington 1911 R1s. love this thing. i've only put 50 rounds through it but i plan on putting a few more through it tomorrow. i was just wondering where would a good place to buy ammo in bulk. i don't want to buy cheapo ammo (tula), just trying to get a better price on decent ammo. don't mind stocking it at home. i did search through the forum, but my forum searching skills suck! i picked up my piece at bullet hole. dealt with a guy named Carmine. cool dude. knew his stuff and helped me through the process. today i used some ammo brand called "independence". shot pretty good. 230gr FMJ. i'm not tied to any specific brand. thanks for your help!
  3. hi guys! i'm new to the forum. also new to shooting. i've shot rifles way back in the day (in boy scouts) and was recently in florida visiting some family who own guns, so i got to shoot with them. i decided to get my FID and buy a pistol. shooting is just so much fun and a great stress reliever for me... it's like playing golf. i got my FID and pps already, i plan to pick up my first pistol this weekend if i find it. i'm looking for a remington 1911 in stainless steel... such a sexy piece of art. well, on to my question: i ride a motorcycle and i can imagine myself wanting to take a ride to the range. now, i kinda understand the rules for how to move a gun around in a car, but how do you do this legally on a motor cycle? (it's a cruiser and it does have bags on it) thanks in advance!
  4. 1. Application type: FID and 1 Permit (limit is 1 per month) 2. Police Department: Union PD - Union NJ 3. Name of the person you dealt with : Detective Baird 4. Time taken to issue FID and/or permit: just shy of two months 5. Documents required by the PD: no special documents besides the typical identification and release papers 6. Notes: overall a very good experience. i wish it could have been a bit quicker as i was planning on going to the range quite often this summer, but now that time has passed. definitely give yourself two months to get an FID from Union PD. I still have to pick up my FID/permit. Their hours are until 10pm, but everytime i go there after work there is always some excuse why they can't give it to me (i've gone twice - first time they said no one was there that could give me the FID/permit; second time they said the door to the detectives area was locked) i'm going again tonight and will hopefully have all my stuff. i want to buy a 1911 this weekend.
