  1. The G43 is lighter and more concealable than a G26. I wouldn't use the 10 round in the G43 itself only as a backup magazine. it makes for a good combination: a small concealable firearm with a higher capacity backup. Similar to having a G26 with a flush 10 round magazine with a G19 15 round magazine as backup.

  2. One of my issues with the Glock 43 was the limited 6 round magazines. I purchased a base plate for the Glock 43 magazines that extends them to a respectible 10 total rounds. The base plate is produced by Zahal and is available at http://www.zahal.org/products/fab-defense-glock-43-grip-magazine-extension-4-rounds at $21.90

Installation was relatively easy and it is a solid product. When used it extends the grip to allow the firearm to be solidly grasped.

The length does reduce the concealability of the Glock 43 so I still use the original 6 round magazine in the firearm. I feel its real value is as a great backup magazine (or two).

I have tried it with both standard FMJ and also self defense Federal HST +P ammunition without any problems at all.

  3. The Volokh Conspiracy: Firearms technology and the original meaning of the Second Amendment

    By David Kopel

"Gun-control advocates often argue that gun-control laws must be more restrictive than the original meaning of the Second Amendment would allow, because modern firearms are so different from the firearms of the late 18th century. This argument is based on ignorance of the history of firearms."

An interesting brief summary of the evolution of modern firearms. Who would of thought that the author of the 2nd amendment James Madison and his Secretary of War James Monroe would be responsible for the start of the development of modern repeating arms!

  4.

New Jersey State Police announced the arrest of Albert Foulkes, 69, of Allamuchy, NJ for possession of a destructive device aka a 600lb flamethrower! A spokesman stated that the device was professionly constructed and consisted of a portable generator, a 50 gal air compressor, 2 10 gal fuel tanks containing a mixture of diesel fuel & gasoline connected to a hose with a flint ignitor. It was all mounted on single axle trailer.  The device reportedly could project a flame up to 100 feet.  Foulkes had printed up flyers offering his device "for terrorist or anti - terrorist purposes" for $10,000.

  5. Oshawa man shoots himself while making necklace from bullet

"Durham regional police say a 50-year-old Oshawa man tried to pull apart a bullet with pliers around 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

They say the powder inside the bullet ignited, which caused an explosion and propelled the bullet into the man’s thigh."

So I thought that a cartridge fired without a barrel would kind of fizzle rather than propel itself with any real force. I guess he could have had the bullet resting on his leg.

"Police say the man was taken to hospital where he underwent surgery to remove the bullet and shell casing fragments from his leg."

Where did the shell fragments come from? I guess I don't believe what I read anymore but who knows what happened.

    I like the last line:

"Police are reminding residents not to manipulate ammunition."

  6. I am confused by your statement.

    Sent from an undisclosed location

Me too  :( Only the buyer needs a FPID not the seller. Usually the seller will have one but not necessarily (could have moved from another state, inherited the firearms, etc). Sorry for responding too quickly and not thinking first but this loophole thing gets me crazy.

  7. So let's say I was going to the Oaks Gun Show next weekend, I as an NJ rez couldn't buy a long gun from a private seller since I am not from PA? Or am I missing what you're saying (which is more than likely the case)

Nope. You can only do a private sale to another NJ resident. You both have a FPID card which required you both to get a background check so no loophole.
