  1. ..........and by now like the song goes, "In the year 2525"... I'll be able to glue my NH and UT licenses together with snot and pretend to be a secret agent but that's about it unless I buy an ATM business serving greater Camden, Irvington, and Paterson. Hey remember that theme!? OMG LOL!!

There is a much "easier" way. First publish you real name, home address, and telephone number. Second publicly call out one of the gang bangers that is not currently in prison and tell him why he is pond scrum (it might be tough to find a publication that he reads though). Third: wait until he personally threatens your life. Fourth apply for a NJ carry permit and in a few months you will have it. At that point you probably had better move far away to PA. Oh if you had done that first you wouldn't have had to do the other stuff. Oh well.

  2. A few of questions: Is this gun for home defense, conceal carry (probably not in NJ), range use, competition use, protection against bears? Also what size hands do you have and what is your overall strength?

For example if this is for home defense and you are set on a .45 the G21 might be better than the G30 (heavier to mitigate recoil more).

Any of the Glocks are some of the most reliable guns and I would agree with GRIZ that the G19 is an excellent first gun.

As GRIZ also said the 9mm is one of the least expensive centerfire cartidges and that will add up if you spent a decent amount of time at the range.

  3. Second Amendment challenge to New York state stun gun ban

A law suit was filed that challenges New York's stun gun ban based on second amendment issues.

    The filing is here:

The suit cites Heller, McDonald, and the more recent Caetano v. Massachusetts decision.

If NY falls then maybe NJ will be next.

  4. NJ can't "legislate" around a Federal law. They could establish more no carry areas as I stated previously in this thread. It would be a Federal law and while a state may be more restrictive it can't be contrary to Federal law.

Exactly what I was trying to say. They could legislate that no one could carry within 1000'  of any park for example which would have the effect of severely reducing the ability to carry (if not eliminating it in some areas). They could include a 1000' zone around any school bus routes or for that matter just change the 1000' to 10000'. Loretta will not go quietly and if she could only save one life it would be worth it to her (lol). I think ultimately the courts will get involved and hopefully free NJ.

  5.  well thats what I meant, You only can take possession of the gun in your state.   Come to Fl and buy a gun at a gun dealer, or PA. It wont happen .( you can buy it but cannot take possession of it)

May an unlicensed person acquire a firearm under the GCA in any State?

"Generally, a person may only acquire a firearm within the person’s own State. Exceptions include the acquisition pursuant to a lawful bequest, or an over–the–counter acquisition of a rifle or shotgun from a licensee where the transaction is allowed by the purchaser’s State of residence and the licensee’s State of business. A person may borrow or rent a firearm in any State for temporary use for lawful sporting purposes."

NJ requires that you and the seller fill out a COE.

  6. A video with NC Congressmen Hudson:

GOP Lawmaker Betting on Trump to Push New Concealed Carry Law

"The lawmaker behind the bill, Rep. Richard Hudson (R-NC), joined the FOX Business Network’s Stuart Varney to discuss how the proposed National Concealed Carry Reciprocity Bill would work."

“It would work just like a driver’s license,” he said. “If a state has concealed carry, then what it says is you recognize the concealed carry right and you have to follow their laws.”

  7. One of the reasons for the School Zone signs is to make everyone aware when they are in a school zone. The interstate commerce line was to meet the Supreme Court overturn of the original act which didn't have this in it.

On a practical level I don't know how many people get charge with this. One of the exceptions is that you have to be aware you were in a school zone and as long as you have a state issued carry permit you can ignore the 1000 foot rule within the state that permit was issued in.

The 1000 foot rule also has an exemption if the firearm is locked and unloaded.

This law should be removed as it serves zero purpose other than to get law abiding citizens to worry about it (well I am not sure how many worry about it). Interestingly the law has no exception for off duty police officers.

The following is a short discussion of the issue:

THE VERY REAL LIMITS ON CONSTITUTIONAL CARRY: THE PROBLEM WITH GUN-FREE SCHOOL ZONES

"....But Federal law clearly hasn’t caught up with the Constitutional Carry movement.  The problem is that the Federal Gun Free School Zone Act prohibits firearms of any kind within 1,000 feet of a school ground, and not the center of the school, but the edge of the property...."

  8. Never heard of 1000ft rule and  I dont think there is one. At least  national law. As a matter of fact there are quite of few Universities that allow conceal carry on their property.

    18 U.S.C. § 921 : US Code - Section 921: Definitions

    (25) The term "school zone" means -
         (A) in, or on the grounds of, a public, parochial or private school; or
         (B) within a distance of 1,000 feet from the grounds of a public, parochial or private school.

  9. I am not sure how this would work in NJ:

"..... in any other state that permits residents to carry a concealed firearm, in accordance with the restrictions of that state."

NJ considers justifiable need as a requirement so it is unknown if another states permit that doesn't require justifiable need would be valid in NJ.

It still is short of the 60 votes required in the Senate to pass.
