  1. ....it's better than nothing.....

No. Should MLK have been satisfied if they just put cushions on the seats at the back of the bus?

The governor took an oath to follow the Constitution of the United States. Instead he chose to support NJ laws that he admits may eventually be held unconstitutional. He could have been a leader and chose not to be.

He effectively gave cover to future governors that this is the best NJ deserves even from a so called 2A Republican.

  2. He should re-read the oath of allegiance he took:

“I, ……………, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of New Jersey, and that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same and to the Governments established in the United States and in this State, under the authority of the people.”

and the Constitution of the United States:

"A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

  3. They actually didn't rule on the merits of the case only on the issue that the judge wasn't local to DC:

"The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit ruled on a technicality, meaning it did not decide the merits of whether the regulations in Washington violate the Constitution's Second Amendment. The lawsuit will now be re-assigned to another judge.

The court found that New York-based U.S. District Court Judge Frederick Scullin, who had issued a ruling in May saying the city's restriction was likely unconstitutional, did not have authority to decide the case."

Interestingly he was originally assigned by CJ Roberts to work on the backlog of cases in DC. This ruling said his power had effectively "expired".

    And the struggle continues.

  4. And to quote from National Treasure:

Sadusky: So, here is your options: Door number one - you go to prison for a very long time. Door number two - we're going to get back the Declaration of Independence; you help us find it, and... you still go to prison for a very long time. But you'll feel better inside.

Ben Gates: Is there a door that doesn't lead to prison?

Sadusky: [laughing] Someone's got to go to prison, Ben.

  5. Although we all want our rights to be recognized now, this fight may take years or decades to get fully resolved. The Supreme Court can work very slowly.

We didn't get the 1896 Plessy separate but equal 7-1 decision to be overturned until the 1954 9-0 Brown decision. That was a very long wait.

    Support the NRA, SAF, etc.

In the mean time NJ has the highest rate of people leaving than any other state.

  6. ...and it takes 3 justices for the 9 member court to take a case....

I believe it takes 4 justices to agree to hear a case. They usually deny cert without any written denial so this is a bit out of the ordinary. The others might not want to take a case if they don't think they have the 5th vote, Kennedy, on board. A denial of cert is much better than losing a case.
