He should only need the Handgun Purchase Permit not the FPID but it's just another check box to get the FPID so he probably should get it in case he ever wants to purchase a long gun.
-
An eloquent dissent by Justice Thomas though.

Does your owner's manual have the overall length listed? It's not on their website.
29.5" and 9 lb 12 oz (now that's a big baby)
-
So it looks like it was in the original 2C New Jersey Code of Criminal Justice from 1978.

These are crimes of the fourth degree as specified by 2C;39-9d:
Manufacture, transport, disposition and defacement of weapons and dangerous instruments and appliances
"d. Weapons. Any person who manufactures, causes to be manufactured, transports, ships, sells or disposes of any weapon, including gravity knives, switchblade knives, ballistic knives, daggers, dirks, stilettos, billies, blackjacks, metal knuckles, sandclubs, slingshots, cesti or similar leather bands studded with metal filings, or, except as otherwise provided in subsection i. of this section, in the case of firearms if he is not licensed or registered to do so as provided in chapter 58, is guilty of a crime of the fourth degree"

A bullpup design like the IWI Tavor is only 26" long and makes it easier to maneuver in close quarters.

I know your question was about a pistol, but you can keep an unloaded rifle in your car as long as you have a NJ FPID with you (at least this is generally true but as with all things NJ there are some other details).
-
Unfortunately you are not alone. I like to do much research online and ask questions on this forum. You will then get lots more out of the trip to the LGS.

Interesting but I didn't realize the carrier was for a spare incandescent bulb.
I might still get the SC1 as it is waterproof.
Thanks much for the info.

Does anyone know if there is info available from Surefire about which lights use which spares carriers (SC1, SC2, etc)?
In particular I am looking at the Surefire UB3T Invictus but I am interested in finding this info about other lights also.

No one likes the NJ gun laws but they are what they are. Most likely many of us break them without ever realizing it or caring.
When you put your pistol uncased in the trunk of your car and if you pass a school you may be violating federal law.

One way around this is to go from House A to a range and then to House B. Then you are not going directly from House A to House B. Only in NJ!

There is. Just don't deviate. I transport between my residences occasionally.
I was thinking of 2C:39-6 Exemptions
e. Nothing in subsections b., c. and d. of N.J.S.2C:39-5 shall be construed to prevent a person keeping or carrying about his place of business, residence, premises or other land owned or possessed by him, any firearm, or from carrying the same, in the manner specified in subsection g. of this section, from any place of purchase to his residence or place of business, between his dwelling and his place of business, between one place of business or residence and another when moving, or between his dwelling or place of business and place where such firearms are repaired, for the purpose of repair. For the purposes of this section, a place of business shall be deemed to be a fixed location.
This doesn't specifically mention residence to residence except when moving. Is there any other section that allows it?
-
When moving to NJ you are OK but I don't think there is a specific exemption when traveling between two residences.

Nah...it was SG ammo.
-
I placed and received an ammo order from them at the end of October.
-

but then, im just testing it.. im not actually buying ammo from them
I placed an order and then i got an email that they won't sell ammo to NJ.

I have to agree with most that the long commute is not worth it (although we sometimes feel we have to do it). I did an average commute of 2 hours each way. At first my wife and I did it together and that made the trip great (including home baked muffins on the trip in). But traffic only increased and by myself was pretty bad. During the holiday season it only gets worse.
The cost of living is lower the farther you get from NY (or any big city) so see if it is really worth it to keep your current job. I wasn't willing to cut loose but I envy others that just leave and give up the rat race.
Tough decision to make but the commute from PA seems not practical for very long.

Did you check their website ?
I have been looking for about a year on their website and I have not seen the large safe on sale.
-
Buy 2 of the small ones.
Unfortunately two won't fit in the closet I have available.
-
To take the online course don't you have to already be an NRA instructor?

GFH is a great friendly place!

Has anyone ever seen the large Bighorn 6039 safe for sale at Costco? I always see their small Bighorn safe 19ECB but not the larger one.
Bighorn Safes on Sale at Costco

So I have been patient and it finally paid off. I checked the Costco web site and they have all 3 sizes of the Bighorn safes on sale. So I placed an order for the large one: reduced from $2000 to $1500.
