  1. My township required a VOE. It was the last piece of my process that the dept was waiting on. I called my office and they said they never got the letter to fill out so i called the PD and asked if they can email it to me and i can foward to my employer, so they did. When i got it the letter actually said right in the middle that it was for a firearms ID and pistol permits. So since it said that my direct manager would not complete it and it had to go to HR.

All in all not a big deal, got it back the next day. But would have prefered the people in my office not know i was buying guns just because of how nj is 50/50 with opinions.

It seems that this is not really appropriate/legal... What if someone didn't have a job? Could they not get a FID? What if your boss/company is anti-gun and doesn't do the paperwork or fills it out negatively? Would that result in a FID denial?

  2. I just moved into a different town and have some questions:

I changed my address with the MVC but they apparently no longer send any kind of sticker or anything to indicate on the license that there's a new address. So, once I get a FID in the new town, the addresses won't match. Also, the new town says that I need to surrender my current FID. So, the one that has an address that does match I need to give up? How does this work?

  3. I am moving. The closing date on my purchase got moved so now there are a few days between when I sell my house and when I close months new one. How can I legally store my firearms while I am technically homeless?

I am going to be living with my in laws for the time in between and also have a storage unit I could put stuff at. Should I contact a range/FFL and see if they have storage space?

  4. Unless otherwise stated, the "Firearms" course is now "all encompassing....". Shotgun, rifle, and muzzle loader, all in one integrated course lasting 4 hours.  I'm not sure there is a separate course for muzzle loader only, anymore. It's now the full "Firearms" course.

But check the F & W Website to be sure.

I know... that's why I specified that I only really need to do the "Rifle" portion. They do offer it separately but I was wondering if anyone knew if you could just do the rifle part of the overall firearms course instead of signing up for a rifle specific class.

  5. Be thankful for the scrap of Freedom they have so far Looked the other way on?

I rather they keep there scraps and have the vets march with pop guns to show the country just how backwards NJ firearms law is.

If that propels the cork (projectile) by compressing the air behind it, I believe it's a firearm by NJ law.  Just like an air gun.

    Edit, no... probably not

""" and ejecting a bullet or missile smaller than three-eighths of an inch in diameter, with
sufficient force to injure a person. """

  6. For *complete* dis-assembly, I found that replacing the hammer bushing with one that eliminates the magazine disconnect made re-assembly much easier.

This is NJ legal, right?  I was considering doing it but this state makes me think twice.

  7.

    NON-RESIDENTS

It is unlawful for any person to carry, possess or transport a handgun in or through the state unless he has a valid New York license.

A provision of federal law provides a defense to state or local laws which would prohibit the passage of persons with firearms in interstate travel if the person is traveling from any place where he may lawfully possess and transport a firearm to any other place where he may lawfully possess and transport such firearm and the firearm is unloaded and in the trunk. In vehicles without a trunk, the unloaded firearm shall be in a locked container other than the glove compartment or console.

Sound to me like "technically", you are not allowed to bring ANY gun to NY unless you have a NY license..  when i went to visit my father in Rochester, i brought precisely NADA with me, but luckily he had guns of his own we could shoot

    This is specifically about handguns

  8. On page 11 they establish the exceptions that allow you to have a handgun in your posession. To/from range or gun show.  Also they address the hunting/fishing thing.

Then page 12-13 they say that Aitken was transporting between residences which would be legal if he could prove it.

So transportation between residences is illegal on page 11 but then legal on page 12-13... which is it?

  9. If you could only have 3 handguns and 3 long guns, what would they be?

I think I would have a Ruger Mark III, some revolver like a GP100, and some semi auto... Either a Glock 19 or a 1911.  I am leaning towards the Glock.

Long guns... a Ruger 10/22, probably a Remington 870, and some rifle.  Maybe an AR or a bolt action in a larger caliber like .308. Leaning towards the AR.
