  1. I'm a maybe. I have some stuff to do with the family in the afternoon but if I can get free in the morning then I am in. I was one of the new guys there last month. Now I bought a shotgun and I want to shoot it.
  2. <-- one of the new guys. Thanks for the chance to break some clays. It's a lot of fun. I would definitely come back in the future.
  3. Cool then. I'll come by for an hour or two in the morning.
  4. I am pretty new to guns in general and have never broken clays before but I would like to come by and give it a shot (pun intended) if that's ok. I don't own a shotgun, so I am hoping someone can lend me one and show me how to do this. Should I try to bring like a box of ammo and a box of clays?
  5. The new law requires that NICS be instant Like they're ever going to be held to that.
  6. In this article http://www.nj.com/politics/index.ssf/2013/05/senate_to_vote_on_10_more_gun.html I thought it was already legal to stop for gas/food/similar. So, does that mean under current law it is illegal to stop and get a sandwich on the way to a hunting area with a shotgun in the trunk? I could have sworn that I read this was OK in other threads... http://njgunforums.com/forum/index.php?/topic/36089-question-about-nj-transportation-law-in-practice/ http://njgunforums.com/forum/index.php?/topic/35608-anything-wrong-with-driving-around-with-an-unloaded-long-gun-in-the-trunk/?&hl=trunk&fromsearch=1
  7. As an NJ resident I can go to PA and purchase long guns. How does the NICS check work? Do they call into the PA one and check it through there? Is the PA one instant? Or do they have to use the NJ NICS stuff and wait however many days it takes?
  8. 1. Application type (FID/permit w/ existing FID).Initial Application. FID only 2. Police Department where you applied. Stanhope PD 3. Name of the person you dealt with at the PD. Receptionist and Chief of police 4. Time taken to issue FID and/or permit. 52 days from application to issuance. 5. Documents required by the PD (aside from the standard application and the mental health release form). none 6. Notes - anything pertaining to the application process (unforeseen difficulties, chief of police calling your home, you hiring an attorney, etc.). At 31 or 32 days I called to check the status and they said that they hadn't received my fingerprints from Morpho. (To be fair I did them just after hurricane Sandy) but they contacted morpho and got it worked out.
  9. Yea, I told him what happened and he just said, "whatever, use mine and then just replace it later or whatever" I'll check out that forum too, thanks.
  10. I am new to guns so I may be wrong but you shouldn't need a FID to purchase shotgun ammo, correct? I am pretty new to guns and hunting and by that I mean I have never shot a gun or gone hunting but I expressed an interest to a friend of mine that does it. He said he would take me out but I should do the NJ hunter education thing. I applied for my FID and got the workbook part of the hunter thing but the video is down. Part of the qualification is shooting a shotgun and since I have never done it before I figured I should try it before doing it the first time at the course. My friend said he would take me somewhere and let me shoot his if I got some ammo. I went to Dicks in Freehold to get the video (they didn't have any left) and purchase some rounds but they told me that they couldn't sell me shotgun ammo without a FID. Is this correct or are they just misinformed? Maybe it's just a store policy? I can't find any info saying that you should need a FID to purchase anything but handgun ammo. When I asked them how long that has been the case they said since 2008.
