  1. I just sent this to TD Bank's customer service email.

    TD Bank,

I have been a loyal customer since you acquired Commerce Bank.

If you cave into Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel's pressure to cut financial backing to firearms manufactures like Smith & Wesson, I can no longer do business with your institution and will be withdrawing all of my funds and closing my account with you.

Political figures have no business dictating how a corporation like TD Bank does business.

Once again, if you cave to Rahm Emanuel's requests, I will close my accounts and urge every single person I know to close theirs as well.

    Sincerely,

    Scott

  2. Here's the article:

    http://news.yahoo.co...--politics.html

    Quote:

Biden, doing a Google+ “hangout” to promote President Barack Obama’s proposals for battling gun violence, had been asked whether a new assault weapons ban might infringe on the Second Amendment rights of those who want one “as a last line of defense” to fend off looters after “some terrible natural disaster.”

“Guess what? A shotgun will keep you a lot safer, a double-barreled shotgun, than the assault weapon in somebody’s hands [who] doesn’t know how to use it, even one who does know how to use it,” the outspoken vice president, a shotgun owner himself, replied. “It’s harder to use an assault weapon to hit something than it is a shotgun. You want to keep people away in an earthquake? Buy some shotgun shells.”

The level of hypocrisy is so maddening.

So, by your own claim Joe, a shotgun is a more effective weapon than an AR-15?

Yet, your plan to make people safer is to ban the "less effective" AR?????

These people aren't even trying to hide it anymore.

  3. We had a hooters up here and it closed down. I really miss the place.

Been to BW3 once. Never going back. But my friends in Pennsylvania just ignore the signs and carry anyway. What are they going to do, stop and frisk you?

Or....they could call the manager outside on their way to a different wing joint, and tell them they WOULD have eaten at BW3's but can't because of their CCW, so they're going somewhere else.

  4. Great idea Mark! Unfortunately, just about every single person I'm friends with are gun-friendly, lol. I'll make an effort to seek out someone who's on the fence or anti and take them out this weekend. I'll have to think about this for a while.

Where'd you go shooting in Morgantown?

Funny thing, I got an email from a co-worker last week. He's a Jehovah's Witness, a straight-laced guy.....kind of a nerd (I mean that in the nicest way). The subject of the email was "357". He wrote me to tell me was thinking about getting a lever action rifle, and asked my opinion about the 357, and what lever action rifle I'd suggest. I was completely floored. I never in my life imagined this guy touching a gun, let alone shooting one or even buying one.

  5. things change over time. some old folks here say they used to bicycle around town with their guns & bring them to school so they can hunt after school. reality check. those days are over. minors should not have any access to firearms without adult supervision.

Even when you trust your own kids, can you trust his/her friends who come over after school?

I didn't read the article, but this is just asinine...

Stop painting with such a broad brush. There are plenty of places in the US where guns are still the "norm".

  6. Not listening/watching, but sounds like it's all straight up lies.

Firearm murders have been steadily declining since 2006 according to the FBI.

Also, I've proven mathematically that rifles (of which these "assault rifles" are a sub-set) account for something like 2.5% of firearm homicides.

Way to "solve" the gun violence problem. /end sarcasm

  7. My family has been huge Ruger Blackhawk/Redhawk fans.

    I think my dad has:

    Ruger Single Six .22LR

Ruger Old Model Blackhawk .41 mag

    Ruger Redhawk .41 mag

    Ruger Redhawk .357 mag

    Ruger Super Redhawk .44 mag

His favorite by FAR is the .41 mag Blackhawk. Watch my dad decapitate a chipmunk at ~50 yards with his....killed turkeys at ~80 yards with it. It's also taken many deer and a couple black bears.

  8. All I have to say is, how can it take up to 24 business days to ship something that is IN STOCK? I know they must be inundated with orders, but for in stock items? C'mon...

Orders placed today for in stock items will ship approximately February 22. Orders are taking approximately 24 working days to ship.

Seriously....I ordered some "in-stock" 7mm-08 ammo on Jan 4th from TargetSportsUSA....checked their website: "We are currently processing and shipping orders from December 30th, 31st, January 1st and starting Jan. 2nd."

    Unbelievable.

That being said....it's time for me to get into reloading. I'm in for a group buy when it happens. Need powder and primers.

  9. The problem with "middle of the road" is that the road is always shifting. If today 20 round mags, a national FID with yearly qualifications, and NICS for all transactions is acceptable to the "average" American, think about what will be an "acceptable" concession in another 30 or 40 years when you have an entire generation that knows nothing different. It would have been completely unthinkable to ban full auto weapons in 1934. However 52 years later with the vast majority of people never knowing of anything different than the NFA, the registry was successfully closed.

Likewise in the 30's the idea of needing permission from the government to buy a gun would have been unfathomable. In 68 we were OK with the government making sure that you weren't a felon/mentally unstable/etc. In 2013 we are (seriously) talking about needing a certification to buy a gun - requiring a positive action in order to be allowed to exercise an inalienable human right. In 2050 will we be talking about whether or not we should have a "good reason" to buy a gun? Sure, it will start like NJ is, where "target practice" or "all lawful purposes" is a good reason. In another 50 years will "target practice" no longer be a good enough reason to buy another gun when you already have 5 guns you can target shoot with?

If we, the law abiding citizens who have done nothing wrong and seek only to exercise our natural rights and enjoy a centuries old tradition continue to "compromise" whenever an evil person does an evil thing, our right will surely die, and it will be us that have killed it.

    Nailed it.
