  1. 18 years ago when I was in high school, in NJ, we could still bring bows, rifles, and shotguns to school to go hunting after school. We even had archery in gym class. Opening day was also an excused absence. I'm sure this has all dramatically changed.

I have to agree though spending time outside of this state is a wonderful thing. The locals in those areas are some of the nicest people you will ever meet.

  2. Since we are talking about this I'm going to put this thought out there for some feed back.

Since NJ issues ccw with restrictions, such as armored truck personal on while on duty, would it be possible to apply for a ccw and request zero rights to carry? If approved, theoretically, you would have a valid NJ ccw. Granted it would be absolutely worthless here but you would be able to get an a non resident ccw from other states.

Would the restrictions imposed here carry forward to the state you are applying for? Also while we are at it if somebody has a restricted NJ ccw have they applied for a non resident permit elsewhere?

Granted it's a million times easier to get your Utah license than deal with NJ but kind of curious about this one. Maybe just to push the issue in this state.

  3. I met a guy with a this weekend. His first and only shotgun was an 870 he bought brand new in 61. He said he used it for everything. After all these years he finally killed it and bought a new one. Use what you have until your skill develops and then get what you want.

  4. I think that is one of the biggest problem of being a firearm owner in this state. It's still treated as a secret society and taboo. I don't flaunt it but over the last 2 years I have been more open about owning and shooting. So far they either shoot or are interested in learning.

  5. No your app didn't go to Trenton yet. My references were contacted and it ended up being two months later before they made the magical trip to Trenton. If this is your first time dealing with the SP I feel sorry for you. Prepare for a different BS story every time you call.

The investigation is completed on the local level before it is sent off to Trenton.

That is incredibly rare. I have flown out of ABE dozens of times and never even seen that option come up once.

But you may be referring to a story I know. A person planning a short flight to Ohio or Pittsburgh got a quote of like $750 flying out of Newark and $250 or so out of ABE. And the ABE flight included a bus trip to Newark for the exact same flight out of Newark.

I have NEVER run into that. So it's very funny, but it sure as hell isn't common.

It never was an option. Happened about 2 years ago on a flight to Florida. Strangest thing.
