I was looking at getting one of these. So far I have held off. I have never been an early adopter of new gear preferring to wait until 1st Gen issues are identified and fixed. In this instance it seems to have paid off. I have heard that there have been some teething issues. On the bright side, Surefire's customer service has been excellent for those I know that have been experiencing issues.

if they can get them to work reliably, i love the incredibly compact form factor...

I think you just unwittingly made the case for passing up the TLR's and going with SF. If you can crack the housing by over tightening, that's not something I would want to depend my life on. And no, I'm not a LEO or operator. Just want to know my shit will work if I were to ever need it, without having to question it.

I see your point..   but its also a question of reading and following directions (for the manual)..   if i would have done it properly (and not 2 turns more than they tell you to do), it wouldnt have cracked..  (and to be more precise, it didn't crack while i was over tightening it, it cracked after shooting the gun quite a bit after i over tightened it)

That said, its a house gun for me, so it doesnt get a lot of abuse.  i wouldnt be concerned with it not working if i need it at this point..   but people have different needs..  it certainly wouldn't be a duty gun if i had that kind of job.. but its more than adequate for what i want it for

  3. Not to hijack the thread (but I guess I can now that he has decided)...

anyone ever use the Surefire XC1?   i have heard good and bad, but it seems ideal for either a carry light or (well, for me) an "around the house" light due to its extremely compact form.  Just curious

  4. I have a 15-22, was the first rifle i purchased.  Have not had any issues with mine in terms of reliability (other than ammo related, which is normal for .22lr).  i have gone through 3 iterations of sights though..   First put a 3-9x scope on it (which now resides on my souped-up 10/22).  Then went for a cheap-ass RDS from Amazon (Barksa, big mistake, couldnt even get it on paper before it ran out of adjustment) and now has a vortex strike fire (perfect).  Also put some cheap poly BUIS on it because lets be honest, its a .22lr... Fun gun, was good to get me used to the AR platform before i got my first one.  I dont shoot it as much now as I used to since i have AR's and a 10/22 tack driver..  but still nice to have..   It does function best with CCI AR Tactical ammo (the rounds were specifically tested with the 15-22, so its pretty much made for it) but it has shot regular mini mags and other HV ammo pretty flawlessly (a few hiccups along the way, but all ammo related - and very limited in scope)

At $250 for excellent condition..   well..   thats a pretty good deal, especially if its already neutered

  5. I have had the TLR-3 attached to my VP9 for over 2+ years now.  I have not had it NOT come on when i turn it on (other than when a battery dies, but that has only been once, and its because i was unnecessarily playing with it)..   Fits comfortably on the VP9, doesnt extend out past the end.  Plenty of light for inside the house (unless you live in a mansion, but for a standard home, its perfectly adequate IMO)

    Just my 2¢

One thing of note for the TLR-3....   Read the directions and follow them.  Do not over-tighten or you WILL crack the housing.  I initially forgot that i cracked my first housing, but it was 100% my fault for clearly over-tightening when the directions tell you not to.  SInce then, been perfect.

All the others were good but as some who wrestled from  a young age through college it was the most important movie ever made.

Madonna as a lounge signer performing Crazy for You and Get into the Groove before she was mega famous.

The campy hotel room speech about Pele.  I could go on-and-on.

Spoiler: they scored the final match incorrectly as well as other gaffes in that scene.  However, who didn't jump off their couch when he pinned Shute?  I still stand and watch that match 30 years later.  My wife laughs at me watching as if he may lose one time.

not to mention...   Lunatic Fringe..  the best thing to come from Vision Quest..  lol

  7. There are some interesting and obscure movies in this thread (and yes, i have seen many of them).  However, some that are being listed weren't exactly "80's movies that no one has heard of"..    Some Kind of Wonderful, Less Than Zero, Real Genius, Weird Science, Short Circuit, etc were hardly unknown movies.

That said...   one of the best soundtracked movies listed here is................ Streets of Fire.  Absolutely crazy ridiculous movie (i mean, Michael Pare, 'nuff said), but man some of the music was great in that.  and if we're going down Michael Pare lane, lets not forget Eddie & the Cruisers

oh, and special mention to Strange Brew..   if you are a fan of bob & doug mackenzie, this movie was fantastic

  8. I had 2 different gas ones..   bigger PITA than they are worth for anything an acre or less..   i bought a kobalt 80v battery one a couple weeks ago..  got all the trimming i needed to get done with my 0.7 acre property and still had about half the battery left...  glad i got it..   will probably get a kobalt 80v leaf blower as well (this way i have 2 batteries and a new blower for my gutters)...

if you have a big property, gas makes sense

  9. I have one of those little pistol cases for every semi auto I own (22's aside).  its great to keep the mags in there so you don't have to worry about unloading your HD round mags before you go to the range (assuming you have extra mags),  I dont have any 2 that are the same color, so there is no trying to figure out whats what.

This gun is extraordinary....  Not cheap, but ridiculously accurate

that said, i would advise against the hi-pol CZ...  go for a matte ss if you want one.  the time you will spend trying to keep hi-pol clean is crazy.  im glad i made the matte-ss choice myself, as i was considering hi-pol at the time as well

  11. Honestly, i dont use my thumb to release the mag on the VP9, i use my trigger finger to release it.  It works quicker that way (for me).  I was used to standard mag releases before getting it (and with other guns since then), but i got used to it very quickly.

That said, if you prefer the standard button mag release, PPQ M2 would be something you should be looking into.  Both are fantastic guns.  If I didnt buy the VP9, I would have gotten the PPQ.  That said, I love my VP9 and its my favorite pistol.

  12. Another thing to check is the front sight heights.  See if they are different from your 226 to your 320.  If they are different, getting a front sight the same sight # as your 320 may help.  (just another thing to check)
