  1. You need the Florida Carry Permit or any carry permit for that matter in PA to transport in the car on your person. You can transport open or concealed. Just when you get out of car it has to be OC.

I didn't know this either. So, if I'm traveling in my motor home through PA and stop to overnight in a public parking lot, I can have my handgun with me, loaded and if I OC I can walk around outside my motor home? I do have my FL non-resident permit. Well...........I'll have to check on Michigan.......I know they don't honor FL non-resident CCW just like PA but not sure of having it in my motor home while traveling.

  2. Seems like whenever an ammunition question comes up here folks like to talk about how freedom munitions sucks.  But I've gotta say that I've been shooting their 9mm and 38 reman for about three years now and after about 3k rounds or so I've had zero problems.  I guess I could have just been lucky or maybe some of the issues you guys are talking about happened a few years ago and have since been corrected?

I do agree with everyone though that OP should try a number of different brands and see what shoots best for him.

    Just my 2 cents.

This is my experience also with freedom. I buy it, my son in law, brother in law, fellow workers, friends,......... so far no one has had any issues or complaints. This is all remand stuff. Do I have it in my handgun while it is performing HD duty in my house? No. But, putting holes in paper and practice work its more than fine. I always wait for free shipping.

  3. In trying to find out what "Trenton" has to do on their end for pistol permits when we have to go through a SP Barracks. Iv'e spent the past two days calling them, googling and talking with troopers where I applied and no one really has the same idea or any kind of real answer.

The last call to Trenton, after being bounced around, I was told "all they do is 212A and fingerprints".

That's the only thing close to an answer I got.

    1.  receive paperwork from local barracks

    2.  throw in basket on desk

3   continue work out schedule in gym

    4.  swim in the pool, laps not required

5   wrestle each other to stay in shape

    6.  wonder what all that paperwork in the basket is

    7.  continue steps 1 through 6 for a couple months

8   check with supervision to see if they waited long enough to start process

9   send back paperwork to sit in local barracks for another 2 weeks or so before you are called to pick it up.

    This is not a joke

  4. I travel in my motor home quite a bit and do overnight while on the road. Sometimes it is in a Cracker Barrel, Walmart, truck stop........... not always sure where. One thing I do know is what state I will overnight in and I make sure it is one of the states I can carry. My first and foremost job in life is to protect my family to the best of my ability and carrying where I can aides me in this. Do I carry everyplace I go once I get to my destination? No, but I do have that option.

  5. I don't know about the new trucks but I have a 2001 Toyota tundra SR5 access cab 4x4 v-8 I absolutely love this truck. Have had zero problems. Back in 2001 this tundra was more like a 7/8 size pickup. Not full size but much bigger than the Tacoma of the time. I have had pickups since I started driving 35+years ago. My question is, how can any one own a house and property and not have a pickup? Just getting stuff to keep up on the repairs, home projects, yard work, home depot runs............

  6. Congrats on the easy fix.

When you are looking at batteries, you want to know two things.

First is the size - its gotta fit in the car.  You already know the car will hold a type 24 and a type 35.  Those numbers indicate the case dimensions, the terminals, and which side the positive terminal is on.

Second is a rating called "CCA" - that means Cold Cranking Amps....its really is a rating of how much power the battery can put out at zero degrees F for 30 seconds.  The higher the number, the more overall guts the battery has.  (Make sure you are comparing apples to apples, tho...there's another rating - "CA" - Cranking Amps - which is tested at 32 degrees,...and results in a higher number than the CCA rating.)

I also agree with several commentors.....Walmart puts out a pretty good battery for the price.

I can't believe it took this many posts to finally address the "size" of a battery. This post is absolutely correct. When comparing batteries the outside dimensions are meaningless to the batteries "power".

  7. My wife and I are expecting our first grandchild in March. My daughter insisted that she didn't want to know if it is a boy or girl and quite frankly doesn't matter but I can't wait. BB gun, pellet gun, p226 air pistol, dirt bike (two wheels only)........... already have the 22 Henry, ar-15 conversion, p226 22conversion........my wife thinks I'm nuts.

I tried to explain to her things will not get any cheaper if we wait to buy them.  Every time my daughter stops over I keep telling the kid "you and grandpop are gonna have a blast"!!!!

  8. I've shipped long guns via UPS several times. I would put them in a hard case and wrap in heavy card board, making my own box. Usually but not always I'm asked what it is and my reply.......... front forks for a dirt bike. I always just get a smile and off it goes. I came up with this idea because when I would send out my suspension to get revalved I would ship them in a hard gun case.

  9. I bought a smith and Wesson shield in 9 mm for ccw. It was my first and only striker fire gun. It was a very nice gun, shot really well, carried very easily, and well made. I ended up "hating" the striker fire trigger. I thought I would learn to love (tolerate) it but in the end I couldn't. So, after it sat in my safe for quite some time I got rid of it and bought a sig p239 in 40cal to replace it for carry. I have many other sigs and I just love the DA/SA triggers. I actually tried to apply the "don't sell any guns because you will regret it" mentality but I think I'll be OK........ and I sold it to a friend who loves it........... and he got a great deal too

  10. There's an article on fox news front page about 2 retired campus police who are being denied carry permits. They say they are retired Leo and permits should be granted.......... welcome to he ordinary citizen in NJ club. Sorry, I have no issues with Leo current or retired but I don't feel bad for them.

For some reason, I can't seem to link article. Maybe someone better at this can.

  11. I have seen thousands be arrested for failure to appear. No one ever got off by saying they didn't get anything in the mail.

Really?  For failure to return a jury duty notice?  Sorry, I say BS. There may be other issues that will get you a warrant but not ignoring a jury notice.

  12. Like Howard said, if you didn't sign for it you never got it. I myself get full pay to go to jury duty so I always respond. Several folks I know either cannot afford to take off from work or can't afford a sitter for the kids...... they all burn the notice..... never, not once has there ever been any recourse of doing so......and quite frankly I don't blame them. I was told at one time that they send out so many notices that they don't even care if everyone replies. Now, fill it out, send it back, make the call and if you are told to report and don't show.......I would not chance that.

  13. I'm set. Full house natural gas gen on stand by. 15 cords of wood in wood shed for wood boiler consumption for all heat, hot water and hot tub needs.  Skid steer fueled up and ready to go sitting in heated garage. Wife ready to plow our driveway and several neighbors also. She loves that thing. Me........ working till midnight tonight, back in 6 am tomorrow till midnight Sunday! This is my 32nd winter doing this crap. I can't wait till I retire........ and I'm moving to where it doesn't snow.

  14. We put solar in 3 years ago and we love it. I could sit here and debate previous posts but I don't feel like it.

I'll just tell you our experience......my summer Atlantic city electric bill was $500 to $750 and winter being in the $250 range. 3000 sq ft House with 1000sq Ft in-law suite, in ground pool,  hot tub, 2 central a/c units, 2 electric dryers....... We have a 73 panel system. We now pay a set fee of $196.50 a month for the next 15 years. After that I can pay a pro-rated price to make them mine or they take them off, return my house to the way it was prior at no cost to me. My wife does contracts for a living so it was thoroughly scrutinized.

The installer told me that after the 15 years, the home owner is in the drivers seat because due to technology alone, it isn't worth their time to take them off.

I am very, very particular on work being done and know the difference. The installer was outstanding. Super neat clean job. My electric bills now are $3.00 (really zero but for a paperwork fee) a month and in the winter I may get a $50 to $100 if we have a lot of snow. We have saved a TON of money.

If anyone wants the number of our installer give me a pm. Like stated above, estimates and a proposed contract costs you nothing but time.

  15. Maintenanceguy...... you beat me to it. When I was around 5 or 6 I had a bb gun. My friends had bb guns. We lived in farm country in south jersey and that's how we all started out. In the beginning stages always supervised. After our folks knew we had respect for the "gun"  because that is what it was, we were on our own. When I decided I wanted to hunt, I was instructed on a 410. I already new all the rules so it was a very easy transition.

I'm expecting my first grandchild in March. I have already decided that if he/she is interested in firearms a bb gun it is. I am also considering an air soft type handgun also. My goal is to teach my grandchild everything they need to know about safely handling a firearm. As mentioned above, I am more worried about the "friends" house and a firearm pops up! If I'm successful, if and when that scenario arises , they will know how to safely clear it of any and all ammo before anyone gets hurt.

The last thing I would want is just another curios kid.
