  1. I use this folding set from fleabay.

    Do a search for:

Front & Rear flip up 45 Degree Rapid Transition BUIS Strong & Solid!

    Push button deployment .

I was considering a pair like this for a loaner build i'm working on.. do they lay "flat" or do they have a slight pitch to them like the MBUS do? and do you normally have them up or folded?

The one thing that keeps me from buying them is the thought of having to come completely off target to flip up the sights if my optic fails or if i want to use the Iron sights.... what is your experience so far?

  2. Sweet, i have been looking at new safes, was thinking of buying two of these to replace my current safe but it seems i will still be short a little room so i am back to looking at one large safe again..

They have larger versions there... not sure how big of a safe you're looking at.. lol.. but may be like RB's said.. maybe you should go for an addition to the house... the "ARMORY" wing.

now the next thing i have to order is a dehumidifier for the safe.

  3. The reasoning behind this is a little silly, but for now, I desperately need to find some Schweppes Raspberry Ginger Ale. Looks like this:

    ginger-ale.jpg

For some reason I can't seem to find the stuff anywhere. I did find this: http://www.sodafinder.com/products/schweppes-raspberry-ginger-ale

but I'd like to avoid paying $25 for a 12-pack.

So anyway, if anyone can assist me, I would be forever grateful!

They have it at ShopRite in Somers Point NJ. saw it the other day.

The Canada Dry Cranberry Ginger ale is pretty tasty too!

  4. get an appliance hand truck, i moves my safe similar size, with me and 1 friend and an appliance dolly. up 3 steps, the easy part, the down a flight of steps. just go slow its not as bad as you think.

just gave a buddy of mine a call who delivers appliances for a living. Hopefully he'll be able to let me borrow the hand truck and give me a hand as well.

  5. Just got my Bighorn Gun safe from Costco delivered. I have to say. I am impressed so far! The question is how am i getting this bad boy up the steps out of the garage..... i may have to call my brother inlaw and a few friends

Here is the safe i bought: BIGHORN 19ECB DIGITAL GUN SAFE  just under $650 delivered to the house... and since i had $200 in gift cards, i got her for about $450ish.

I'll post some pics of it stocked when i get a chance. it's Still in the wrapper!

  6. Incorrect - An interstate sale of a long gun must got through an FFL. However, it can be an FFL in either the buyer's home state or the seller's. All applicable firearms laws from both states must be adhered to, which means you can use an FFL in PA, near your brother, but you must have your FPID and a COE is supposed to be completed for seller & buyer. A PA FFL may not want to be bothered with a COE (technically a violation of Fed Law) since he can't be audited by the NJSP, but you should make a copy for yourself. Doing it FTF at an FFL in PA saves you the cost of shipping and PA PICS is only $2 - $5 as opposed to NJ which is usually $15 (never less).

    Adios,

    Pizza Bob

I was told by the guys at BANGERs that ANY out of state firearm that comes in to NJ MUST go though a NJ FFL to confirm it's Compliancy in NJ. The reason behind this is, an out of state FFL may not fully know what is and isn't legal in the destination state.  If you were to buy a Rifle in PA that was not ban compliant and the FFL let you leave with it because it is Legal in PA. once you bring that non ban compliant rifle over the bridge, you broke the law. shipping from FFL to FFL then to customer "checks and confirms" the compliancy of the rifle. It also "logs" it in to the database. :( I was also told that ANY out of state Firearm (pistol or rifle) transferred into the State requires the buyer to go though a NICS.

maybe they were wrong... I am by far no authority on the matter.

  7. Hold off on that stock purchase! If the gun was built as a AWB compliant, the buffer tube for that pinned stock may be a hybrid. Seems they use a rifle length stock tube with a metal retainer built in to shorten the inside of the tube to carbine length for the spring and buffer. Also most of these types have no milling in the underside for the "stops" on carbine stocks. You may have to replace the buffer tube with a carbine one. I have also seen AWB pinned "carbine style" stock setups using a rifle length spring and buffer assembly. Get the rifle first and post what type of stock assembly you have. We will help you figure it out, and what you need to build the rifle you want. Don't be in a hurry to waste money. Easy to do with this rifle setup!

Be aware there are different spring and buffers for the AR-15. Without knowing what you need, you could end up with a bad combination of parts.

    +1

  8. It's really personal preference. I just like the way a free float system looks. IMO the lines of the rifle just look cleaner. im not a huge fan of the quad rail but until i can get the dynacomp off thr quad rail will have to do... Ultimately I would rather the spikes SAR system. Just looks hot!

  9. Thanks for all of the replies.. Lots of good info here. I will most likely keep the upper I have the way it is. Maybe upgrade the hand guards to quad rails... If I can find someone to take the dynacomp off I would go with a Bar rail and ditch the fsp.

    Thanks guys!

  10. So I have thought myself in to a corner... for the past few days i have been toying around with the idea of switching from my 14.5" mid-length Spikes upper and going with a 16" mid-length system... I've talked to a few friends and everyone has something good to say about each.

I'd like to pose the question to the forum and see what a few other people have to say about either system i'm thinking about going/staying with.

What are the overall benefits of the longer 16" barrel vs. the 14" barrel and is it worth the extra scratch it's going to cost me to upgrade my System?

    Set up 1 (Current):

    • 14.5" Spikes Barrel
    • MID LENGTH Gas System
    • Dynacomp extreme
    • Spikes  BCG w/charging handle
    • Magpul MOE hand guards or Spikes 9" BAR free float rail system
    • FSP/gas block combo

Set up 2 (possible change to)

    • 16" Spikes barrel
    • MID LENGTH system w/micro block
    • Dynacomp Shorty
    • Spikes BCG w/Charging handle
    • Spikes 9" BAR

the rifle will be my "EVERY DAY" shooter. I'm looking for accuracy and ease of shooting in tight quarters situations as well as up to 200 yards. My Umbrella will be the long range shooter.

this is the upper i have now:

    151282341.jpg

and this is what the upper would look like if i were to switch (note it would have the mid-length gas system):

    STU5025-R1S.jpg

    thanks

    Zap

  11. I believe you will need a carbine length buffer tube. I had to replace mine going from the longer ACE skeleton stock. See photos in my post above.

So if you have the "standard" m4 style adjustable stock you should be ok.

  12. wait is it the same bag u got that day ? didnt u tell me u gonna return it :) ???

PS and stop showing off ur new rifle :p

Nah. I returned the "rental" gun bag back to Dicks when i got home. It was like 46" long or something like that... i could fit a surf board in there. lol

I got this one last week and aside from a few upgrades i'll do for a few bucks.. i am pretty happy with it so far. I'll post more next week on it after i get to use it on the road and at the range.

You know you miss the Spikes!

  13. Here is a quick review of the Blackhawk! Sportster Modular Rifle Bag

Here is the link incase the embed doesn't work: http://youtu.be/pYNi7tkUohY

Overall i'm happy with it. I will add some chloroplast boards on the outer walls to add some rigidness and order some more straps.... I'll have to give the zipper pulls some thought.

not bad for the $64 it cost me...

Anyway... sorry for the poor video quality. shot it with my iphone.

anyway.. hope this helps someone thinking about getting this bag.

  14. If anyone was wondering.. the MOE Fixed stock is the same as a Standard Carbine stock in the #2 position. Here is a photo of it on my spikes and under you will see a PSA lower with the stock out in the 2nd position.

    151240815.jpg

  15. No problem, Thanks for measuring that for me.  Looks like its only about 1/4"-3/8" shorter than what I have my stock at now(3rd spot out), might have to give it a shot.

For the most part it's like having a stock pinned at the second position.

  16. Just finished putting the Fixed stock on Erika (my spikes) I like the look and the length was perfect for me. Check out the photos..

    After:

Overall length of Erika now is 33" tip to butt. With the ACE we were a little over 36"

I had to replace the Buffer tube and spring when going from the ACE to the Magpul. Kind of a hiccup in my plan but oh well. live and learn. now i have spare parts for another build! lol I also tourqed the Castle nut to 40lbs and staked it as well.
