  1. I have set up an NRA First Steps Pistol Class at Shooters in Little Egg Harbor, NJ on Feb., 8, 2014 from 2pm - 5:30pm. The instructor is Kharis Sepulvida who is a NRA certified instructor. Kharis has hosted a number of training courses that forum members here have attended, he is very personable, safety conscious and very easy to learn from.

Class size is limited to 6 people for this class.

Here is the course description from his website:

    Course Description

The NRA FIRST Steps (Firearm Instruction, Responsibility, and Safety Training) Pistol program is designed to provide a hands-on introduction to the safe handling and proper orientation of one specific firearm model. This course provides an introduction to firearms safety, handling, and shooting skills. It is an ideal program for new pistol owners. This course satisfies the requirements to obtain a concealed carrying permit in various states. (Please check your local laws and regulations for information pertaining to the application process.) Textbook and course material are provided. It is recommended that the student bring their own handgun with at least 50 rounds of factory loaded ammunition. If, for an extra fee, a handgun and ammunition needs to be provided, please provide advanced notification.

Cost: $160 ($50 deposit required to register for the class)

If you are interested please post here and I will inbox you with registration info.

  2. ok so what amazon i saying is that FIREARMS Related items are allowed on the site. IF an item is reported to them as a FIREARM related item, it's up to the person fielding the call/report to decide if the item should be removed and the seller removed/suspended from the program.

He basically said if it's listed now just go ahead and list one and if it gets taken off it gets taken off. There is no set in stone guideline except that you can not sell a COMPLETE FIRE ARM.

my head is spinning, I guess there is some truth to what my friend/vendor told me today but Amazon does not have a set in stone guideline or at the very least they are not sharing it with me.

in the end i guess, keep ordering what you want until they take it off the site.

FYI: i called saying i was considering setting up a seller account and wanted clarification on their selling policy with firearms related items.

  3. I am on the phone with AMAZON now. two operators are telling me two different things.  One is telling me that Firearm related items such as receivers and barrels are no longer allowed. the other is telling me that certain Firearms related items are no longer allowed by NAME/Manufacture.  they are trying to get clarification... i'm on hold.

edit: they said for me to check to see if an item or item type is restricted i would have to set up a seller account and see if my item is restricted just before i list it on the restricted items list. they also are telling me that the list is not set in stone and is only a guideline. Items can be banned or removed at any time.

  4. I dunno what you are talking about, searching for "ar 15 handguard" matches like 700 entries on Amazon right now.

They just started removing items from the site. you can still find TROY, some Yankee hill, Magpul and others. From what i was told they are moving from the bottom up, removing the lower end MI "clones" and going from there. Anything that is listed with a title of RIFLE or AR15 is going to be phased off of the site. i just did a search for 12" Handguard on Amazon. it came up with 632 items. on the first 2-3 pages there were hand guards and no other items. Now there are only about 5 on the first page.

I would say it's going to be a process for them to phase things out but i guess it's going to happen.

  5. So i was talking with a friend of mine who owns a online retail site out in AZ and got into the discussion about Amazon. He told me that Amazon has started to Phase out all firearms related items for sale on their site. They started with Hand guards, muzzle brakes and "receivers" and will be moving to other items as the year moves on. I went to check my "wish list" that had a number of items i was researching including hand guards and receiver parts and low and behold almost all of the hand guards were gone or "no longer available".

Has anyone else heard this? I find it disappointing that Amazon a large retailer and i'm sure a company who has made a good amount of money selling Firearms related goods is making this move.

  6. I've sent maks an inbox message letting him know that I wanted permission to mock up some shirts hats and decals for them to use if he wanted to sell them on the forum. I haven't heard back yet if it's ok or not.

For the record. I was not going to be offering anything for sale. I was just going to be mocking up proofs so the forum ownership could take the files to whatever vendor they wanted to and have the items made.... If they decided to make it happen.

  7. I'm just going to mock up designs for him or whoever is going to oversee the project to use. kind of take the leg work out of it for them so all they would have to do it take the orders and call a vendor. If i am asked to stop then by all means i will.

in the mean time i will shoot MAKS a message.

  8. I was going to mock up some samples and get pricing on a few items for the forum members (tshirts, Hats, Bags, gun mats, decals and such), and present it to the management/ownership for review. Is there an official "logo" that the form has to identify itself? if no i was just going to mock something up for the samples.

    Just wondering....

  9. From recoil magazine:

X Products advises they are working they are now working on the “ultimate skeletonized AR15.” It is currently specced with a skeletonized Detroit Gun Works reciever, Timney Skeletonized trigger and X Products skeletonized X-15. They’re planning to use a 14″ Fortis Rev Forend, Mission First Tactical Minimalist Stock and Jess James skeletonized pistol grip. The receiver weighs just 6.6 oz.

As you can see, they are going for an “open” look. Seemingly obvious questions arise with regard to functionality in the face of detritus and weather, but there is no doubt it has aesthetic appeal.

Asked why they would build such a thing, X Products responded with “Why not?”

That seems as good an answer as any.

I dunno if I would get one... Just seems like too much material is missing.... On the other hand.. There is quite a bit of weight saved there.

  10. Thats what i was wondering, so with the addition of a brake the barrel would be legal length for nj.

As long as the total length from the closed breach face to the tip of the muzzle break that is permanently attached is more than 16 inches will be okay.

You can find the guidelines online with a simple Google search I would find it for you now but I'm driving

I would definitely measure the total length before you permanently attach muzzle break.

What muzzle break do you plan on using

  11. I'm not sure on the PSA barrel but i know that on the 14.5" barrels i have the "14.5" length is from the CLOSED BOLT FACE/BREACH FACE to the tip of the barrel when measured with a dowel. I get them with no brake installed so the 14.5" does not count the additional length of the brake.

  12. Just spoke to Kharis Sepulvida and he said he can host a NRA First Steps class for the forum members @ shooters at the end of Feb or early March. Cost is $160. Class length is 3-4hrs. depending on attendance.

If you guys want me to set this up please post here what dates work best and a secondary date that will work for you and i will get a confirmed date for the forum members who want to take this class.

I wouldn't leave my sick son with a sitter either; your a dad that has his priorities straight.
I hope he feels better soon.
And thanks for organizing the class.

He's feeling better today. I'll be at the next class. MOre info to come soon.

I forgot to mention. Shooters store and range are very nice. Well stocked, helpful people, clean, comfortable.
Nice classroom area and we had the smaller range, there are two, just for the class.
I'll be back during the summer, we spend time on LBI and that's a short drive from there.
