  1. What primers are you using?  If you've been using American primers and they're starting to get loose, you can try using some European (they're a little bigger) and see if they fit better for a few more rounds.

That said, I don't typically track how many times I've loaded specific brass.  I would assume it's somewhere around 15-20 for lighter loads.

  2. To be fair... it wasn't even packed! They threw the shipping label right on the stock box. When i ordered mine from midway the stock box came in an actually shipping box, alone. and a second box was delivered with a bunch of other stuff. The retarded part is that the hornady box is paper thin on the top, and uses typical carboard for the box, nothing i would ship anything in to begin with let alone a press. by no means is that even close to shipping standards...

To be fair. I had the same press shipped to me the same way and it arrived just fine.  While the packaging is kind of weak, UPS is more at fault for throwing it around.

  3. I picked up my transfer from them yesterday. I have to say it's a very interesting setup they have. First, it's in the basement of a shopping plaza so that alone makes for an unusual experience. Getting over being underground in a gun store, they have very friendly staff. I was actually taken aback by not receiving the typical NJ gun store attitude. There was some 18 yr old customer bugging one of the salespeople for over an hour and the guy fielded every one of his dumb questions. From the conversation, I also gathered it wasn't his first time in that shop browsing.

There are no counters so you can actually have a normal convo with the staff and not feel separated. That's a big positive in my book.

That being said, their selection is very limited. They had 6 ars, 6 shotguns, a few bolt rifles, then maybe 20 pistols. I understand that supply is limited but I've seen other stores have a full selection.

Their prices were on the high side for the guns, at least the few that I noted. Maybe I'm just jaded from ordering everything online.

Their transfer fee was high for my taste especially considering it was just a receiver and I picked it up the same day it came in. They charged tax on their already high price of $50. So it was $53 something including NICS. I feel that charging tax on a govt tax is a bit redundant. Only reason I went to them is because they are literally next door to where I live now otherwise I would've been driving to Lincoln Park.

As an aside, I got to tour their vault and it's impressive. Not sure I'd ever have a need for their storage services but they did have people's guns in there.

Overall a rather pleasant gun shop experience. Will probably be back and will probably take their Utah ccw class in July.

  4. As you noted, the min charge for a 124 GR bullet is 3.8 for the N320. These are 125gr/rn bullets, so does that 1 extra grain negate the 1 extra grain on my charge? I didn't weigh the bullet heads, but I will before pressing out the next 500.

I wanted to start on the lower end of the charge because I'm new at this and would rather load a squib than overcharge and blow up my gun. lol Nothing to do at all with competitive advantage. I don't mind a sharp recoil.

Underpressure charge can cause a kaboom just as easily.

I'd walk the charge up a bit. I've never used vv powders but it seems that you might have some room to go up. Work it up slowly and keep an eye on pressure signs.

  5. That sucks. You will be covered but its a PIA having to deal with stuff like that. I caught the FedEx guy tossing my ammo delivery literally like a bowling ball. Saw him pull back and and let it rip. Opened the door and ripped him out and reported it to FedEx. Just a blatant a hole. My ups guy is a champ though.

Fedex ground hires subcontractors to deliver. They could give a sh*t how they treat your package since they're not actually part of fedex.

  6. Once it's sent back to the manufacturer for repairs can it be sent directly back to me or does in need to be sent to an FFL?

If it's repaired and the "firearm" portion of it doesn't receive a new serial number then it can be shipped directly back to you. If it needs to be replaced, it must go through a ffl.
