I'm not sure what you are trying to imply? I'm not being anti-soldier/military, if that is your point. I have nothing against the military. I just think, and the constitution agrees, that the military and domestic law enforcement are two separate functions, with different roles/goals/rules/methodology, and that they are meant to always remain separate, for good reason. (most of which, at least historically speaking, has little to do with the current "militarization" of domestic law enforcement)

I agree, I give more credit to former military in regards to becoming LEO's, they're trained to deal with both the enemy and the civilian population. Call me naïve but  I have faith that there far fewer bad apples who can't make the distinction between them, than there are good guys

As far as militarization; tactics, tools and clothing have progressed, those being used as an argument are like anti's saying we the people should only have muskets

However, since you dangled the bait, I'll nibble. In regards to the "domestic terrorist" point, do you count gangs?

What's to stop these guys from using their veteran status to become cops? That could be very bad.

Wasn't dangling bait, apologies that you took it that way, it was a reference to a line from the former head of DHS , Ms. J. Napolitano

  2. Been here most of my life, accustomed to seeing it, usually at a traffic light with a tarp in the median, when the light goes red volunteers can do a walkabout to get the paper donations

When I was a kid in Old Bridge it was almost like a game, stop at the light and try to toss coins in the buckets

  3. Just to clarify, although I thought it was pretty clear; the above is how I think it should be, for the reasons I stated. The 5 year wait I proposed, is so that former military have sufficient time to realign their brains to a more peaceful civilian way of thinking. The idea is to wring as much "soldier" out of them, and their attitudes/actions/mindset as possible, before unleashing them on the domestic civilian population as law enforcement. As has been discussed before, the way a soldier can/does/should act in a "combat" zone, interacting with the local civilians, is very different from what is appropriate for a civilian law enforcement officer. Allowing former soldiers to become involved in civilian law enforcement, before the "soldier"' has been removed from their brains, is what leads to the rampant and inappropriate militarization of law enforcement.

I guess they're the one's you might worry about becoming domestic terrorists

How do you feel about our National Guard ?

  4. CCI mini mags $9.99 for 100 limit 3 packs

(They may be cheaper via the Internet, but I kinda like walking in - seeing stuff in a case - bull shittin' with the kid, and walking out with something in my hands)

On Thursday DSG Bricktown and Manahawkin would only sell 1 to a customer, had to have my newly permitted bil ( 13 wks in Ocean Township )  with me to get 400 rounds

  5. Thanks guys...

Con, that was done with a silver inlay crayon. The way it always works for me is at least two coats. Clean the surface good with acetone and heat the area with a little solder torch to burn off any residue. When ready, heat the crayon tip to soften it a bit and heat the surface a little again. While everything is warm, press just enough to get color into lines. Some are fine and won't go in first hit. That's ok. Take a cotton cloth with a little acetone and with your finger, lightly, and I emphasize LIGHTLY, drift your finger over the whole area to remove excess color. If you push too hard, it will remove all shallow areas. it only takes very light rubs. Let dry. Do same thing all over again till you get it right. Depending on fine engraving areas, it may be near impossible. If so, just take your time and work with it. Use a toothpick to help. Eventually it will look good. Once one, wipe down with G96 or silicon and it pretty much locks in. Keep in mind, if you get rough with cleaning solutions, it may come off after time. Just don't use brushes to heavily scrub colored areas. Good luck. OR cheat and use nail polish. ;)

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk 2 Pro

Wow, that's more detail than I got from the YT video's , thanks

Is the silver inlay crayon something special ?

I tried with a regular crayon, and nail polish :(

  6. I hate to disappoint....but PINNED is incorrect nomenclature in my opinion......... we have received PINNED AK mags that were no more permanent PINNED than a drill bit was far away....

Not disappointed, I did type " IMO"

I have seen AR mags that were BLOCKED and as such can never be used at full capacity.........  not to derail the thread...but ANY magazine with just a roll pin...rivit pin etc..is NOT permanent....

Don't think pinned is correct either

How could you have a 10 round mag in NY...?  As far as I know in NY even before the silliness 10 rounds was max limit for a magazine....

Back in the Florio days we were allowed 10 here, NY was a different story as far as I knew ( couldn't bring pistols, but had Hi-caps ( another sad ass term ) for most rifles we brought up, 50 rnds before having to reload the 10/22, yay )

Before the "permanency clause" I bought "blocked" magazines from several local shops that simply had a piece of wood jammed in them, sent them to Fla. with the guy whose property we used to shoot on in NY, should have gone with him.

If you have or had a 20-30 round mag in NJ that only had a block that could easily be removed in this state...I would get rid of it asap...  YMMV

Nothing left but 16 year old 10's and the 1 MW PX modified 15/30 I picked up a couple months back

  7.

and I wish we would stop saying 'pinned'...I think blocked is more accurate........

IMO blocked describes the way it used to be

You could have a 20 or 30 round mag blocked to 10 and be legal, we would to take em to NY for the weekend and remove the block

Now it has to be pinned or modified so that it can never again be used at full capacity ( stupid laws )

  8. Stopped in at Bricktown store to look at one with my bil , they only had the floor model left ( according to workers they only had 2 to offer and they went first thing in the morning )

It's a good deal heavier than the security chests but no way it's 230 lbs., maybe 130

As has been stated, better than storing your gun in a travel case

  9. Not going to sugar coat it for anyone

He should have known to teach her safety before handing her the gun, and having just shot it she should have been able to realize the potential destructive power she was holding

And then to top it off, let's post the video

It's the kind of moronic ignorance the gun community doesn't need

  10. Hard to tell, but I was referring to the guy holding the camera more so than the woman.

Kinda thought so, gets my vote too, put a gun in her hands before teaching her not to point it at anything she doesn't wish to destroy, yikes

  11. Have seen the same kind of stupidity, was at a time when video camera's were more frikkin weight than you would want to bring along for a day at the range

"Honey relax, I don't know how to do this"

    "Next time I teach you"

Who is the bigger moron there ?

  12. My understanding is that the statement is pretty contextually flexible. In this case, given the tanks rolling down on them, it's probably the same as saying "oh F.., Oh F..."

Just to be clear, I am not a religious bigot, don't care what deity anyone prays to and it wasn't the context it was being used in

It was it's use every 5 or 6 seconds non stop that annoyed me, he could have been saying " pigs fly, pigs fly " and it would have had the same effect

Let me put it this way, if it were to happen here and the jackoff with the vc is behind me saying oh f, oh f, oh f non stop, I'm turning around and breaking his jaw

  13. From the article...

Earlier Friday, gun control advocate Bryan Miller took a disabled .50-caliber sniper rifle to the Statehouse to demonstrate its destructive capacity.

"These are military weapons designed and manufactured to destroy material targets such as chemical plants, refineries, chemical and rail tanks and passenger aircraft, targets that abound in New Jersey," he said. "A potential attack with a .50-caliber weapon could have a catastrophic environmental impact in the Garden State."

    Hmm

How in the heck do you demonstrate destructive capacity with a disabled firearm ? You can't, it was brought as a prop

Which guy is the bigger idiot, the anti-gun zealot or the reporter ? TIE

  14. You have to make sure the shed is anchored so it won't move in a wind storm. You also need to remove all vegetation from the inside of the shed or when it dies it stinks. It is important not to make it a "permanent" structure or the tax man will be on your case (zoning guy also, check before you erect, some towns are a PIA with sheds). I have done this many times and has lasted years for all that I have done it for. Dig out all the grass, etc. and level where the shed will go. Make a framework (like a foundation) out of 6 X 6 PT ties and connect them by screwing nailing plates on the inside. Line the bottom of the area with landscaping fabric. Back fill with 3/4" crushed stone. Now erect the shed on top of the 6 x 6s anchoring to PT Wood. Using the wood as a frame you can line the floor area with what ever you want. Pavers, etc. I would get redimix and pour the floor. Works great, keeps shed anchored. makes for a nice raised area at the base of the shed to protect it when weed wacking, etc. Inside nice floor to make it easier to get mower, etc in and out.

Ventilation is also a requirement otherwise things tend to rust up pretty good. Moisture still makes its way up out of the ground and condenses on inside of shed if you don't.

Setting the PT wood on a sand or stone base will help with keeping excess water away from the base. Directing run off from the roof of the shed away from it will help big time also.

    Good Luck with the project.

In Silverton, tax man told me that anything 10 x 10 or larger was taxed, wether permanent or not, then pulled out a tape to check that mine was 8 x 10 ( apparently couldn't visualize the difference between a square and a rectangle )

  15. I wonder what they are getting for .22? I heard someone say $50 for a 50 round box with a gun rental. Don"t know if this is true though because I was not there and this was second hand info.

$10 a box, more than I'm willing to spend
