  1. Actually, I do have a lack of opposable thumbs.

    Called it.

None of this was on topic, there has been thread drift and people giving out bad info in rapid succession. And then defending it by giving out more bad info and blaming me for it. Am I not allowed to respond?

You will notice that the thing you complained about is something I just taught you, and a lot of people here, that can save your ass some trouble. It seems to be a theme with me, trying to keep my Jersey friends (or you) out of trouble. A long running theme.

If you think I have nothing to contribute, please put me on ignore. It will keep the forum a little less cluttered.

It's just a tad grating that you seem to want credit for everything I know, as if I'm incapable of reading and interpreting legislation on my own. I also realize that Easter is just around the corner, but no need to crucify Pizza Bob over a mistake which he already conceded. I imagine you're trying to help, but you just come off sounding like a crass egotist and it dilutes your message.

I get your point about transport. That said, I'm not asking about transport. I wasn't asking about NFA either. Back on track, will my CCW allow me to carry openly or concealed in my vehicle? The answer seemed to be a simple 'yes'.

  2. Actually PA. C. S 6106:b:11 says otherwise. I sought specific interpretation of the law through the PA AG office and was told that my interpretation of open carry in a vehicle (with a permit from another state, regardless of reciprocity) was correct. I suggest you contact them

Thanks for this and the link in your other post.

I'm a big fan of training and have been looking to hone my skills (since I am a n00b, after all). I am interested to see that you offer courses.

  3. I wasn't sure from your earlier post, but now I'm clear why people don't like you.

No, I don't. I taught you it is required to TRANSPORT a handgun, SBR, AOW, or Machinegun (firearm for the purposes of this section, not to include long guns). Or any type of firearm in Philly, or during a state of emergency (which PA is in more often than not, and is now.) With defined exceptions. The law says "carry," I agree, but it's very important that you, as a n00b, understand that you can't have a handgun in the car without a permit to carry from any state. Not even unloaded in the trunk. That's why I prefer the term "transport" for dealing with Jerseyites, just to keep it short and to the point.

None of this dribble is on the topic. My question and this thread was specific to carrying with a permit and did not require your encyclopedic response.

I am imagining you are a gorilla beating his chest. Literally. I suppose it is a bit challenging to tap the space bar between words and sentences due to your lack of opposable thumbs. Deal with it

The question needed a "response," I agree, but it's very important that you, as a gorilla, understand that you can't have a tantrum in the thread without a purpose to just feel authoritative in any state. Not even unloaded in the trunk....

  4. Sorry, I meant "UFA." Pennsylvania Uniform Firearms Act.

There are one or more states that say having a firearm in a car is concealment. That has NEVER been mentioned in PA.

Do you know how many dozens of times I have posted 6106 (b) here? You've gotta be kidding me.

I've been EDUCATING people since I joined here that you need a license to transport a firearm in a conveyance in Pennsylvania (with exceptions). I probably taught YOU. That does not equal having a gun in a car means the gun is carried concealed. Well, not in Pennsylvania anyway.

That's like saying, "Well, the reason you can only make reasonable deviations in Jersey is because if you make a deviation then the gun is loaded with bullets. Here, see this? It says only reasonable deviations. That's because a deviation makes the gun loaded. A gun in a car becomes loaded if there is a deviation."

    1 + 2 does not prove 4.

Dude, check your ego at the door.

Analogies and semantics aside, it seems that you concur a CCW is necessary to carry a firearm on your person while in a car.

  5. I am sorry, but you are mistaken. PA law has never considered a firearm in a car as "concealed" as far as I know. And only a fool is certain, but I am pretty damn sure about that and you should probably find positive contradictory information in this case. Like I said, I believe that is a law from one or more midwestern states.

    Ok, you forced my hand...

6106 (B) (11) provides an exemption whereby a firearm may be carried in a vehicle if one is licensed to carry. Semantics aside, you need a CCW to carry in a car.

  6. Cowpoke. Ha.

It's not the reason. I believe you are thinking of Ohio or some other midwestern state where this is codified into law (I forget which state). It is true it is not in the law as I stated and you agreed. A 1930s legal review of the proposed NFA stated the reason for prohibition of firearms in cars was that a criminal leaving the scene of a crime could hide his weapon in the car to avoid police discovery. It had nothing to do with the consequences (real and imagined) of carrying a concealed firearm.

Not sure how NFA factors in here, but I understood PA to consider open carry whilst in a car to be concealed and thus necessitating a concealed carry permit. I don't have a reference handy.

So... you got some for sale?

I like the 15rd body better than a 15/30 or 15/20 body. I can store more loaded mags and still shoot from a bench.

  8. Town is Middlesex Borough -- It's a new chief of barely 6 months and he is not anti gun -- I know him personally

He's making a lot of changes in town for the better -- I'm sure this one will get addressed too

My point to this whole post was that question needs to be more specific -- The way it's worded makes it a very general question that can't be answered No truthfully in my eyes

I just wanted to see what you guys thought

If he is 2a friendly like you say, I bet he would appreciate if someone like yourself took up their pen and drafted an update to the questionaire. He would otherwise need to do it or allocate an officer's time to a rewrite, which is often why tasks do not get accomplished.

If you're not a "legalese" kinda guy, have a friend read it over first.

  9. I'm reviving his thread to share my experience.

Doing a search on Google for "15 round AR magazine" is not as easy as you might hope, so I was excited when I found these for sale from Wideners. I bought 6 of these a few months ago to test out and found them to work perfectly. One can never have too many magazines, so I went to buy another bunch but was disappointed to find that Wideners no longer stocks them online. I see that Shooters carries them now at a bit of a higher price...

  10. Now that there is definitive.

However I just sent Armscor a message asking them to run off a bunch of the .22 & 9mm m1 carbines w/o the labeled designation. I suggested NJ1 carbine, m2 carbine as examples.I feel confident they'll oblidge so hang in there everyone!

    I love it.

This is just like Anderson's "AM-15" lower. It is certainly NOT an "AR"-15, your honor! Nothing illegal here, thankyouverymuch!

  11. A while back I tried to send out a barrel from the Paramus PO to see if it could be threaded for chokes. When asked the contents I said it was just a shotgun barrel, not the whole gun. The clerk slammed the window down, dove onto the floor and yelled for a supervisor. The ahole supervisor told me it was illegal to ship gun parts and said he was going to call the cops. I left and shipped it elsewhere declaring it to be steel tubing going out for machine work. No problem.

Recently, I sent a barrel out in trade for a different barrel and another barrel for choke threading. Again I said it was steel tubing. No problem. The moral of the story when doing anything firearms related here in New Jerky is keep it simple and don't frighten the peasants.

    Denial of service??!?!

If you have the time, tell him that he is dead wrong and that denying service is illegal. Also remind them that liable is written but slander is spoken, so they should be careful before declaring that you committed a crime. Then call the cops yourself.

    [iNSERT GADSDEN'S FLAG]

  12. I was walking in Hoboken one afternoon and I saw an American flag plainly atop a pile of trash on the curb outside of a store. Theres no telling how many people had walked by and ignored it. My blood boiled in 0.8 seconds, but I calmly pulled it out, folded it, and took it home for disposal.

I chose not to confront the store since I wasn't going to say anything nice at that moment.

  13. Sometimes the only way to beat stupid is with something even more stupid. I really believe this can work. Walmart sells a decent looking clip on Nylon OWB holster for $5. Another thought I had about this. 1,000 people pumping their fists in the air does not do much, but get 1,000 people dressed the same and suddenly it becomes something else. Black pants, white shirt (polo or dress) and a banana in a holster . Showing up "in uniform" would cause many to wet their pants.

    Nailed it.

This is textbook passive-aggressive. If the open-carry movement in TX had this approach instead of the in-your-face tactic of a slung AR-15, I believe you would not see so many 30.07 signs popping up all over the state. Civil disobedience is what every anti-gun liberal loses sleep over, since they associate it with the violence they inherently fear. Instead, we should steal THEIR playbook with highbrow psychological tactics like this banana gag and embarrass them.

The 36 Stratagems is an ancient Chinese essay that explains how not to rouse the fight in your opponent. I'm getting a bit philosophic here, but strategy #16 below is exactly why this banana gag will be the best to make an impact.

"In order to capture, one must let loose"

    (欲擒故縱/欲擒故纵, Yù qín gū zòng)

Cornered prey will often mount a final desperate attack. To prevent this you let the enemy believe he still has a chance for freedom. His will to fight is thus dampened by his desire to escape. When in the end the freedom is proven a falsehood the enemy's morale will be defeated and he will surrender without a fight.

  14. That is a much less stupid plan. I love the banana in a holster gag, reminds me of a Monty Python sketch. I bet that would get a ton of media exposure. It also leverages one key principle in changing minds, use humor. I like it! The only problem I see, how do you mount a red dot on a banana? :D

    Maraschino cherries.

This is asymmetric warfare. A successful pro-2a movement needs to adopt the very strategies that it's libertarian principles oppose; get in someone's face and tell THEM to change so you can have your way.

    Adapt to the challenge.

  15. One thing to remember, the recruiter is really working for the company, not you.

    This, 100%.

That said, I once was successful with a head hunter. I somehow guessed that he was a heli-skier and managed to turn the interview upside down to get him to be my advocate for the position. It's the craziest true job hunt story that worked, and it only panned out because I had specific niche experience they were looking for. That said, the guy was still sleazy.

I recommend you network instead of job hunt. The job will find you if you stay persistent.

  16. Gotta replace the battery on my FIL's Mercedes S430... I think Sam's Club has Duracell batteries which look like they're made by East Penn, which are supposedly really good. We'll see how it goes.

East Penn, aka DEKA is top grade. They engineer & manufacture a lot right in Reading PA. Many of their products are relabeled, as you found out.

  17. Eveyone has to start somewhere.

So where do we draw the line and more importantly, who gets to judge?

If I am in a gunfight or involved in something where my gun is out, and I see a fellow cop or CCW holder with their gun out, my first hope is that they are a better shot, a better tactician, and better trained than I am.

So, then, if it was up to me, my training level would be the lowest allowed to carry - which isn't right and shouldn't be the benchmark.

Do we restrict carry to IPSC or IDPA master level shooters and above? I wouldn't make that cut.

How about only folks who can shoot 200 or higher on a bullseye course? 50/50 if I would make this.

So then, what are the mandatory minimum performance requirements necessary to be competent enough to protect yourself with a firearm? How do you measure them?

For Texas, you basically need to get 6 shots in a 2ft circle at 15 yds. I would think anyone on this forum should be able to achieve that.

  18. I've said it here before. At my Utah permit class some girl brought her gun in so the instructor could show here how to load it. Yes she owner a handgun that she planned on carrying and she not only had ever fired a gun before she did not even know how to load it. I understand the argument that manditory training infringes on people's 2A. However I do not feel comfortable being around someone who is carrying a gun and has never even fired it. I think free qualification once a year is not a bad idea. If you can qualify you can carry if you can't qualify then you can own guns And shoot them at ranges you just can't carry. Flame suit on!

I'm with you. I have a TX CHL and the 4-5 hours at least gets people familiar with the basics.

If more 16 year olds were taught firearm safety, there would be fewer people like whom fishnut described.
