  1. Yea actually I was reading some reviews about the seller of the Colt (Surplus City) and they don't seem to have the best reviews, especially on used guns. So the Smith it will be, unless someone convinces me otherwise, but I've wanted the Smith as my entry level for so long that I think that's the one for me.
  2. I'll admit I'm an AR newbie so that's why I was looking for the advice. Wouldn't even haven given the carry handle a 2nd thought.
  3. I'm hoping that it is in good shape......from everything that I know, a good colt is better than a new S&W any day. I could be wrong, been wrong before, but that's what I think. Plus when I move to a free state, the Colt will be easier to change back to non-evil form.
  4. Ok all, tomorrow is shopping day, and here are the 2 I'm looking at. We have a brand new S&W m&p sport 2 or I can get a used Colt match target lightweight carbine in good to very good condition (per the store...sight unseen to me as of now). Both are NJ compliant AR's and both are basically the same price.....I meant to ask if there is any discount for paying cash but I forgot so I'll do that later. But I need opinions....given those 2 choices, what would you do?? A 3rd option is a S&W AR 15-22 for about $200 cheaper than the 2 I listed above....I didn't know if I should even consider that or not. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated, but tomorrow is definitely the day I'll own one of them!
  5. Found a couple locally to me, just gotta wait til the weekend when I'll actually have time to get there. And I'd pay a little more to buy from the little guy as opposed to the big box store.
  6. Yup that's me....sounds like we'll be looking in the same area...Apex, Cary, just southwest of Raleigh. I never looked into the locker idea....never even checked to see what shops or ranges are in that area. Guess I figure if I get one here I can just un-evil it when I get there, since I'll probably be personalizing it anyway. Every time I check with Cabela's they are out of stock on the NJ compliant models and never have any clue when they'll be back in stock. Kind of disheartening trying and being shot down all the time. And yea...I do want both. But the budget doesn't allow for that right now, so it's just 1. If I wasn't buying a handgun this weekend too I'd have more money for both, but, priorities.
  7. Great points..... I can't see them ever repealing that in my lifetime either, I guess when you put it that way it becomes an easy decision. I don't care so much about the state of NJ crap, since by the end of 2017 I should be in NC (yes I realize I can by a non-"evil" AR there) but I'd rather not wait because with my luck they'll get banned a week before I move. I already have a house there in OBX, but I rent it out in the summer so I'm not buying one and keeping it there. And funny thing, that flood got me too. So weird!
  8. That would be me, buy it, use it then have it the safe forever. But if I don't buy it now, will I ever be able to get one? I can always get a shotgun and they will be readily available. The AR might be a different story with availability (and legalities) and then prices may skyrocket etc etc. So many variables and that's what I keep bouncing around in my head!
  9. I know right!! Wife won't let me play with our money the way I want to!
  10. So now my brother (being the jerk that he is) goes and asks me if it's really worth spending the money to buy an AR that I will go out and shoot maybe once a month. And of course now I'm wondering the same thing. Anyone have any regrets about spending money on an AR just to have it sit in a safe and use it 8 times a year? By the way, my brother is a Fire Marshall and a gun guy, he's not someone that is anti-gun, he's just playing devils advocate here. Am I just better off with the $300 shotgun and save the extra cash?
  11. I haven't been able to find the Ruger anywhere, and since I found a smith I was gonna jump on it
  12. I'm heavily leaning to AR for not only the "fun" factor at the range, but I keep thinking I can get a shotgun any time and any day, but finding a NJ compliant AR at a good price isn't as easy. Then there's the whole "get one now before you can't get them anymore" issue, which I doubt would happen, but you never know.
  13. OK so I'm going shopping this weekend and I wanted opinions on the age old debate on which to buy. It's either gonna be a S&W m&p sport (NJ compliant of course) or a Mossberg/Remington/Benelli pump shotgun. Ideally I'd love both but if you could just buy 1 which would it be. Main usage would be range but I want to know it's there for home defense too. Thoughts?
  14. As of this past week......I ordered from both places.... Bulkammo.com - needed FID (super easy...snap a pic from phone and upload it right in their site) SGAMMO - no FID, no ID, nothing.
  15. Thanks for the tip...Wow....kinda can't beat that huh?
  16. I haven't shot a .45. I've done .22, 9mm, and .38/.357. Want to try something new and since my other guns are "full size" I wanted to try a compact in a .45. Basically I have permits to use and cash burning a hole in my pocket for a new toy!
  17. Hi all. Looking for a smaller gun and I'm thinking I want a .45 this time, so I wanted to get some thoughts from anyone that has one. Why a .45? Just want to try something different from the other guns I have, so why not a .45. In what I've read, the xds and G30 seem to be the most popular but I would like to hear from actual owners of a smaller .45, no matter the brand. Thanks in advance.
  18. Went there today and shot about 150 rounds. $20 for the lane and $1 each target. Nice guys, decent place, 25 minutes from me and it would have been quicker if they ever get done construction on route 13. Thanks for thinking of that for me!
  19. I hear ya there, but even that aside, I had a terrible experience there as a guest of someone years ago and I'll never forget it or spend a dime there. So while many people trash them and there's a lot of hearsay, I saw it 1st hand and am not interested in them at all.
  20. Good call, wasn't even thinking about PA. Figured there'd be some crazy laws about transporting my gun out of state to shoot and that would anger the NJ brass.
  21. Hey all, looking to join an indoor range near me. I'm in Delran (near Cherry hill and Mt Laurel) and I'm looking to join an indoor range, but I think the choices are pretty limited near me. There's an outdoor range right in my town, but I'd much rather have an indoor place to shoot. Been to Bob's in Glassboro and it's a nice place but it's 45 minutes to get there. I will absolutely never go to Hague's so that's definitely out....any other places nearby? Thanks in advance.
  22. I'm pretty much glued to it now....I can see how there are good deals to be had, just gotta find the deal that's for the gun I want.
  23. I submitted a price request thru this website as PK90 suggested....and apparently I did it like 10 times, so I'd like to apologize to those that get it and think "this guy's an a-hole". I'm not. Just a newbie that was doing that from his phone and when I thought I was frozen and kept hitting submit, I was actually submitting. Bigtime apology, totally my bad....I deleted from my messages all of the duplicates but I don't know if that deletes them from the dealers also. Tried to fix it, don't know if I succeeded. Thanks for the heads up PK90!
  24. That's why I'd rather shop local, hell even if I have to drive an hour. I'd rather give whatever money I'd be charged for the FFL to a dealer in NJ. There are a couple near me (I'm in Delran) that are $25-$30 and others that are $75 just for the FFL....I'd much rather just buy in NJ and have the local guy get that money.
