That was Monmouth county and the whole situation is odd. He is an appeal to denial before justifiable need removed. His judge that gave these restrictions in the order is not the normal permit judge for Monmouth. There seems to be other drama going on in his case, so he may be an outlier.

I've seen an Ocean county order posted from Aug 12th with no locations etc and then one posted from Aug 23rd with all the BS we see about locations. So I'm really interested to see proof of permits after the 23rd to see if this is now on all orders or somehow an outlier or mistake on people getting their work permits amended.

Who is the normal permit judge for Monmouth County?

  2. I have 2 Holosun 507 and one Sig Romeo. I can rack the slide using the dot if I had to and it doesn't lose zero. One of the Holosun's is on my Sig M18 and the Sig Romeo (not pro) is on a 320 FS. The other Holosun is on my Walther PDP.

Talked to the friend in police couple of days ago and he said - you could apply for ccw but it does 't mean you will be getting it. He suggested to wait, min year. They don't have anything as an instructions and don't know on how to process this in NJ yet, no clue. Money spent on class which is valid for 6 month only, he said I doubt 6 month is enough. I wish to see anyone approved with this permit on hands.

I have a friend who is a deputy chief of a local department. He was literally on the call with the AG's office a few days after the decision. They do have some basic guidelines. It's my understanding (not through him) that the big challenge right now is that some county Superior Court judges are choosing to not act on the requets oncce they get them which is the last step. That is the rumor going around  for Monmouth. I have heard that there have been some permits granted in Passaic. Again, this is all here say.

  4. I took the NJ CCW class at ROC Training a couple of days ago and submitted my paperwork yesterday. Rocco told us that the NJSP removed the shooting qual altogether and left it up to instructor discretion. He feels this was done to actually make things more difficult as the person who signs off on you is accepting some legal liability if the CCW holder screws up. By removing the qual officially, it makes it so someone can't say well I passed the "state" test.

He makes everyone take a modified HQC qual to pass.

@45Doll, thanks.   So on my SIGP320...the FCU and on my SW22 Victory, the frame......whichever is the serialized part if I understand correctly.

So I have direct experience with this. I sent my P320 to Sig and they had to replace the FCU which meant it got a new serial number. Because of that they had to send it to my FFL whereby I needed a permit to re-claim it. Luckily I typically try to always have a permit or two active it wasn't a huge deal for me but if your going to send a 320 in for service I would simultaneously apply for a permit if you don't have one.

  6. I realize it's all conjecture at this point but I don't necessarily agree because they have already signed the agreement with Vortex for the new optic that has a built-in ballistic computer. They wouldn't need that level of sophistication for the useable range of the 5.56. It will take years but I don't think they will change from going to the 6.8 Fury. On top of that the US military is looking to open some of the shuttered ammo plants to manufacture more ammo. That tells me they will be making 5.56 and 6.8.

  7. I'm 6'3" and about 310. I have the 11 x14 LAPG level IV ceramic which are heavy. They were relatively cheap and the reviews on YouTube were good. If I was doing it all over again, I would go with the 10x12 as the coverage would have been acceptable and it would have been a few pounds less.

  8. No worries, I didn't take it that way. Mine has about 500 rounds through it and I've never had a problem. I've heard their Cobra series has problems but the Vipers get good reviews on YouTube. I'm happy with mine and that's all that matters to me.

I just won a TriStar semi auto today. I'm not certain, but I think it is the Viper G2 Sporting in Red - they didn't let me fondle it at the event today. I'll see it tomorrow.

I'm already happy with the shotgun collection I have, so if they won't let me trade it for something else it may be up for sale here pretty soon.

I have 12 gauge version of the gun and I use it for sporting clays. I love the thing. When I got my hunting license even the guy who administers the test asked if he could take some shots with it and he liked it.
