I don't expect ROs or LEOs at ranges to inspect, but I'm not willing to risk losing my 2A rights, career and my freedom (up to 18 mo. sentence) because someone was a bit too interested in my range bag. I wonder if anyone has ever challenged the constitutionality of losing your Constitutional 2A rights due to a state law unique to NJ? It would seem to me that to lose a constitutional right (2A, voting, etc) one should have violated a federal law or committed a pretty egregious crime.

NJ Glock started following Magazine question and Where do we stand on S548 - 2018 updated assault weapons ban?
-
What is the status of S548 was introduced on 1-9-2018 ? If it passes, even my .22 caliber M&P 15-22 would be confiscated. Any semi-auto rifle could be banned just because of a pistol grip or thumbhole stock! "This bill would strengthen the State's current assault weapons ban by revising the definition of an assault weapon to include: rifles with detachable magazines and ONE military style feature; semi-automatic shotguns with ONE military style feature; and semi-automatic pistols with ONE military style feature. (a) a semiautomatic rifle that has an ability to accept a detachable magazine and has at least one of the following characteristics: (i) a folding or telescoping stock; (ii) a pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon; (iii) a thumbhole stock; (iv) a second handgrip or a protruding grip that can be held by the non-trigger hand; (v) a bayonet mount; (vi) a flash suppressor, muzzle break, muzzle compensator, or threaded barrel designed to accommodate a flash suppressor, muzzle break, or muzzle compensator; or (vii) a grenade launcher; "

I have spoken with a number of ranges. They will not inspect a "high capacity magazine". They still sell "large" 30 round mags in NJ for the M&P 15-22 that are modified at the factory for 10 rounds... I guess because they look cool? Although I will NOT be inspected/harassed by a range officer between now and December... the thought of a rookie cop collaring me, slapping me with a Class IV felony, losing my right to purchase in all 50 states, 10K fine and up to 18 months in prison... no thanks... I will be conservative and go with what Nappen says.
