  1. Here is why it was ruled unconstitutional..

Due to the language of 430 ILCS 65/2(a)(l) and the Court’s interpretation of the statute, it is clear that compliance is impossible when one is in ·their own home. No person could have their FOID card on their person 24 hours each and every day when firearms or ammunition are in the house.

In addition, every person in the home (family member, friend, spouse, etc.) who has knowledge of the firearms or ammunition and has immediate and exclusive control of the area where the firearms or ammunition is located, who does not have a FOID card, would be in violation of the statute

So, she will have to change her drivers license first, since it is the only ID my barracks will accept, go without matching docs for the 4 months it takes them to produce?  It is a rediculous catch 22. I guess the sensible hassle free option is to just keep her own name.

When I changed my address, they did not take my FID card until they gave me the new one..

Does anyone know (first hand please) if my fiance takes my name once we're married will she have to go through the whole process to change her name on her FID?  And if so, what of her pistols?  Same thing there? And during the process is her possession in limbo?  And since her driver's license is the means of ID for the process once she gets that changed and it doesn't match her FID until she gets the new one is issued is she a criminal for the multi-month process for a new FID card?     See the goofy questions they force us to face?

Yes, she will have to go through the process again..

Lol who doesn’t put friends as references?

moreso... who doesn’t put friends they know will respond in timely fashion. All this crap is a joke

They blamed a 3 month+  holdup on my change of address on waiting for my references to respond.. Total BS..  One reference handed it in person the day after he received it and the other filled it out and gave it to me to mail out...

  5. When filling out the form for handgun purchase permits, I would always get to the part where they want 2 references and think to myself.. Am I applying for my constitutional right to bear a firearm like I’m applying for a friggin job..  Needing references for a constitutional right, what BS is this!!!  If that’s the case make it ID & 2 references to vote!

  6. Under the new law only those carrying under (RPO) can carry 15..  LEOSHA would be 10..

        2.    (New section)  Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection j. of N.J.S.2C:39-3, a retired law enforcement officer who is authorized to possess and carry a handgun pursuant to subsection l. of N.J.S.2C:39-6 may possess and carry a large capacity ammunition magazine which is capable of holding up to 15 rounds of ammunition that can be fed continuously and directly into a semi-automatic handgun.

only problem I called njsp, they said when I qual, i have to disclose on qual sheet the 15 round mag for the gun im qualifing with, so the new question becomes, what if i carry several different guns, depending on time of year. does that mean I have to qual with every gun i ever intend to carry every time in order to be compliant? I believe the law says 15 rounds for carry gun or intended to carry.

With a NJ Retired Police Officer carry permit your only allowed to carry what’s on your qualification sheet..

    And...How does this make sense?

    It doesn’t ..

    The law that passed:

1[3.    (New section)     Notwithstanding the provisions of N.J.S.2C:39-6, a law enforcement officer may possess and carry while on duty a large capacity ammunition magazine and possess and carry while off duty a large capacity ammunition magazine which is capable of holding up to 15 rounds of ammunition that can be fed continuously and directly into a semi-automatic firearm.]1

OK, I'm not a long range PRS guy (yet), and might never truly be. But I seriously want to pick up a bolt action in .308 that's good for practical or defensive purposes out to maybe 300 yards. (No 6.5 Creedmoor; don't want another different caliber.)

Is a 20" 5R barrel considered adequate for that? There are multiple choices in that length. I saw the 700 Magpul has a 22" and wondered if that would any significant difference. Maneuverability is not relevant for my purposes. Opinions welcome.

When you refer to practical & defensive, that seems more like a Rutger Scout 308 type..

This is not how it will go down. Murphy, Weinberg, Grewal etc will use a mass-shooting with an illegal mag to lynch some scapegoats. I am telling you how those scapegoats will be found, and how it could be you.

Not gonna happen as you describe and it won’t be me, I’m in compliance.. If you’re so worried about this, I suggest you get in compliance with the mags and anything else illegal in your home..

Several members on this forum whom have experience in this matter here have givin their opinions on it, take it or leave it and move on..

Maksim is desperately trying to prove that he is the oracle now and forever for which NJ laws will be actively enforced. I get that LEOs and attorneys chiming in here have a vested interest in pretending no abuse of the law ever happens, since their livelihoods depend on the rest of us rubes having at least a grudging respect for the judicial system. But I don't get Maksim's obsession since by his own admission he no longer lives here.

Well I still live here and agree with him..

My city has about 5,000 distinct addresses. I'm guessing less than 10% of the current owners at those addresses have purchased handguns here. Even if the records are not entered into a database, that's a trivial search for my local pd.

You’re clueless on the time and manpower it would take to execute search warrants across the state!  This isn’t the Soviet Union or Nazi Germany yet..

This a case of reading the exact words and taking them literally.

A magazine that can take more than 10 rounds may be MODIFIED to be limited to 10 rounds. That modification must be permanent.

Hexmag 10/30 mags cannot take more than 10 rounds so there is no modification needed. If there is no modification there can be no distinction between permanent or not.

I wish the Courts would rule on the 2nd amendment like that..

As in Shall not be infringed
