Just got the call, picking up my permit shortly. Submitted 7/20, mental health check received 8/1, sent out to Morristown Superior Court 8/2, and it was just delivered to the PD today, 8/12.

    Wow! that's fast!

    An update from Middlesex county!

I called superior court today and they have no applications from my town, my PD hasn't approved or sent anyone's applications!

It looks like getting a permit smoothly and expeditiously is entirely dependent on what county you live in. I am unlucky enough to live in

    one of the "rogue/obstructionist" counties.

I think a good question is how many Superior court justices will outright reject applications that they don't want to honor, and how many will exhaust every possible excuse to delay and stonewall, citing "lack of guidance" (like some PDs are doing) and/or playing application tennis with prosecutors' offices, and other such subterfuge. Outright rejection has a straightfoward remedy (appeal). Dealing with delaying tactics and obfuscation would be somewhat more nebulous.

    This ^^^^^^

I wanted to provide an update on Highland Park NJ. It seems guntuber guns & gadgets did an entire episode dedicated to thrashing Highland Park  NJ. Trigger warning for those that want to watch it is going to upset you!

Carry Ban Voted In - Even AFTER Supreme Court's Bruen Decision!?! - YouTube

Like "Ficus" tomorrow will be three weeks from fingerprinting and 4 weeks from dropping off my packet. I did want to mention that my PD did cite "lack of guidance" when I dropped off my application but did reach out to my references. It seems that of all the people applying the most positive info we have here is a few got their permits in Passaic County and a small number of individuals got a court hearing at the end of this month in various counties. The point I am driving at is that many of us who live in "rogue" counties that are intentionally stonewalling may have to take legal action on an individual basis to finally obtain our carry permits.

Today marks 5 weeks for me in ocean county since completing the application and fingerprinting.  Been at superior court now for 22 days. Feeling cautiously optimistic!  Positive attitude will get you positive results!

I'm not as optimistic, no one here appears to have received their permits and all the positive information posted here is "second hand". I'm in MIddlesex and the last of my references were contacted on the 28th, my PD has since "gone dark. A new disturbing ordinance banning the carry of all guns in all public buildings (a-la New York) was introduced in Highland Park and will pass the beginning of next month. The first town in NJ will copy New York and essentially ban legal conceal carry everywhere, a message left with ANJRPC has gone unanswered....it's clearly unconstitutional and defies the high court in every way.

Any experience out of Edison (or Middlesex County)

I inquired by phone at Edison PD about status of my application. They did not ask my name and I was told to contact Superior Court.

They are playing games with you intentionally! There is no reason they cannot provide an update on your application! There disgustingly rude! When you did you submit and when were you fingerprinted?

fyi, I am in Middlesex and I called my PD late last week and left a polite message inquiring about my application. I left a message as no one picked up and I have not heard back. If I hear nothing back from my PD this week, I will likely try calling Superior Court to inquire if they have any information. I have set a time frame over the next few weeks to get some resolution. If I am unable to get something as simple as an update on my application, I will be looking at legal action! FYI, Middlesex is as bad as Bergen county!!

    Then you have to sue.

This ^^^^^^^ The PD's simply cannot be allowed to sit on carry applications for months on end with no determination. The least they can do is keep the lines of communications open with applicants. I would really appreciate updates on my application, it would go along way with building a positive relationship between those that are legally armed and the local PD's.

I got a call from my local pd. My mental health came back wrong. However I had it expunged in 2019 and the judge who expunged it also does the carry permits. So I emailed it to the officer who is procesding it to forward to the court.

I'm glad yours is moving along to the court level and you're getting that mental health issue corrected. I dropped off my application on the 12th, fingerprinted on the 22nd, references all done by the 28th, and not a single word since....

My buddy lives in Hunterdon County. He dropped off his paperwork and was printed on Wednesday. All of his references were called today. They are also sending his references paperwork confirming the info they already stated over the phone. They are moving quick, but mailing the references to them is awful and will take forever!

What? Really? it seems everyone is having different experiences here.

    1. References not contacted but, application moved beyond PD to local court.

    2. References called and were sent letters.

    3. References called to confirm only.

There is no logic or uniformity here, PD's are doing whatever floats their boat. I think calling and sending letters to references is idiotic!!! Do one, but don't do both!!

Been AIWB carrying since I left NJ.  Tier1 Axis Elite all the way for Zev OZ9c and G48MOS

It's nice to have your gun at centerline, easier to draw, easier to conceal and easier to protect if it gets physical.

It's not for everyone though as not everyone has the same built.  If you've been enjoying that awesome NJ Italian food a little too much, it's going to he hard to draw that gun from under your beer belly.  Just sayin'

Sir, I like your style! I went with the T-rex Arms Sidecar 2.0 with matching "discreet carry concept clips Mod 4".

When I carried out of state i carried mostly in the appendix position (galloway precision do-it-all appendix holster), or in a pocket holster (pro-tech gripper), a few times i carried at the 3' clock position using a "yaqui" holster. From now on, it's the Sidecar 2.0 from T-rex Arms all the way! It's the honestly the best I have owned to date.

Call Evan Nappen’s office and tell them ASAP! That is bullshit!

Correct! This should not be taking months on end when the judges are supposed to be bound by the 60 day statute! They are using delaying tactics to bide time until the legislature/Murphy can find a way to turn off the spigot. I fear many of us including myself, will be forced to use the services of an attorney to see the process to its inevitable conclusion.

    What about Middlesex county?

I'm in Middlesex County, I have no update yet and none of my references have been contacted. My prints were done on 7/22/22, so three working days so far. I was told by my PD that I would not have to appear in court (unless there is a denial) and that if the chief approves the PTC then the judge will likely approve as well.

Bergen County - Looks like most towns are dragging their feet with either "waiting for the direction on process to submit to court" or "waiting for approved list of qualification courses" or some other excuse. Bergen County Prosecutors Office sends another confusing letter URGING PDs to do "thorough background check" in place of now unconstitutional "justifiable need".  In summary, traitors to the constitution.

    Are they dragging your application?

  10. There have been hundreds if not thousands of people that have already applied all across the state. I applied last week and my paperwork and qualification was legit, I'm not re-doing anything because of a grammatical technicality caused by the NJSP! As someone mentioned that box isn't touched by us applicants anyways!  The NJSP will likely be updating the application many times over the next year along with integrating FARS at some point.

  11. I thought the ANJRPC had lawsuits pre-filed? Which org will be filling the lawsuit first? I (we) all have to donate to stop NJ from subverting the will of the high court. BTW, my town announced they will pass an ordinance next month to label every location outside the home a "sensitive location". We have to get an injunction through in a goddam hurry!

Her is my newest CCW gun. I haven't had it for long but it has really impressed me. This is an awesome gun with the best trigger of all of my handguns. It is barely larger than my P365 and will become my EDC starting tomorrow. The fit and finish are outstanding.

I know jealousy is a sin! :p. That might be one of the best 1911 carry pieces on the market today.

I assume these are the 5.11 leather belts?  I just bought a 5.11 nylon belt, thinking it might be useful for casual summer carry.  It's ne as a belt, but it's pretty flimsy--no real resistance to twisting or bending.

It was inexpensive enough that I may keep it as a belt, but I don't see it being useful as a gun belt.

Yes, i meant to say the 5.11 leather belts. I have a few of the covert models for CCW, the leather belts are no joke.

    Hi All,

I submitted my application today in Hoboken. My trials and tribulations to get to this point are on the NJ CCW resources thread, if you're interested.

The officer that took the packet looked it over very carefully and then said "they'll do the background check immediately and then submit it to the State Police/Superior Court for approval before a judge". He also said "You know you're in Hudson County, right? I wouldn't get my hopes up that a judge will approve this. I mentioned the SCOTUS decision and the guidance from the AG; but he remained skeptical that I would get an approval.

The question is: what is my recourse if they reject it on flimsy grounds, or simply don't give an explanation?

    Thanks

    Good Luck!

  15. There are two statements that conflict with each other?

[A firearms purchaser identification card issued prior to the  effective date of P.L. , c. (pending before the Legislature as this 41 bill) shall expire during the fourth calendar year following the  effective date of P.L. , c. (pending before the Legislature as this bill) and on the same calendar day as the person’s date of birth.]

    and then..

7 [The] A firearms purchaser identification card issued prior to  the effective date of P.L. , c. (pending before the Legislature as 9 this bill) shall not expire

    WTF!!!!

I am going to be getting a gun belt, specfically a brown and black leather belt. I already have a 511 belt from work that I could use for carry. As for clothing, I plan on using the same clothes I own. My pants run a size big on me so that should help me with inside the waistband carry.

I have been running 5.11 conceal carry belts for years. They are awesome and recommend them to everyone interested in CCW.

Some post offices used to do them. Dunno how common it was/is. I know AAA offices have done them too, not sure if that is still offered. Some camera shops may, one I worked at years ago did before closing down.

If taking photos yourself, you typically want a clean, bare white background, and both the background and your face should be free of heavy shadows with clean, even lighting. This usually involves multiple lights when done professionally, and you should be at least 2-3 feet away from the background.

If you can crop/edit the photo to a correct size and have access to a paper cutter, a glossy 4x6 printed almost anywhere will be cheap. If you can't do basic photo editing/cropping, you are better off going where someone does this all the time.

I have seen the photos taken at some places or by individuals and I would be surprised if they passed. A few I know were rejected (for passports).

I print my own passport photos from my printer using photo paper. It works just fine. The trick is getting it exactly 1.5 X 1.5 inch or slightly larger. There are many apps from PC to cell to help with making small photos. Fedex and UPS offer notary services.
