If I am involved in an incident and cannot prove that I am proficient with the exact sidearm that was used,   I can lose my freedom, job, home and money.  I have to defend my actions in both criminal and civil courts.

You can't imagine all the possible charges and lawsuits you will face for using a firearm to defend yourself.  You might be lucky enough to stop the assailant, but if you injure an innocent bystander, they will nail you to wall.  If  you used a sidearm that you haven't qualified with, well...that's just icing on the cake for DA.

Cover your butt every way possible.  You have everything to lose.

Are we sure we still want to conceal carry in N.J. ?

The interpretation of the law may have changed but the same evil people are still running the state and court systems.

What more do we need to wait for.  Constitutional carry.  I dont see any paperwork or forms for the first amendment.  Why do we need permission and permits for the second amendment?  Its not an other than enumerated right.     Its a right not given   Its presumed.

    Exactly.

The 2nd amendment is not a second class right according to the Bruen decision. Does one need three references in triplicate, signed and notarized to vote?

I don't want people to know I own and may want to carry a gun, let alone three people who will have to sign off on my application!

What if I don't have three friends that I've know for a "minimum of three years" to endorse my application and never will?

Why are my rights to self defense based on the approval of random people?

This ruling drastically changes (or should change) how N.J. and other states with histories of trampling rights to personal self protection issue permits.

If you read the entire article, they spell out that Murphy intends to run for president in the 2024 primary he will get all the  free publicity as being a staunch anti-gun candidate by resisting to supreme Court.

Who needs publicity?  If Biden can be installed as president Murphy is probably thinking: "Hey, me next".

The hell with what the American people want.

Check out these two Politico articles, which specifically mention new Senate Majority Leader Scutari's reluctance to move on gun legislation. The Dems are very concerned about losing control of the NJ legislature in the 2023 elections.

Historically gun control has been a losing issue for dems.

They lost the House in 1994 after Clinton's AWB was passed. Florio got bounced out after one term for giving N.J. it's own AWB (and for other reasons)

Murphy likely would've been one termer as well were it not for the democrats fraudulent use of ballot drop boxes.

    No CCW in Restaurants huh?

Does A-Hole Murphy mean restaurants like the Luby's In Texas where a gunman killed 23 people in 1991 and the push for concealed carry got started after a woman left her gun in the car because she didn't want to risk losing her chiropractic license and her parents were both murdered?

Private property owners, including homeowners and business owners, should also be required to give permission for an individual to carry a firearm on a property, Murphy added.

By the time Murphy and his Apparatchiks get through identifying all the places concealed carry is NOT allowed we'll be back to transporting firearms unloaded in the trunk of the car..   :coffee:

The carry permit application is different.  Each reference must personally sign each of the 3 copies.  They want to make sure the references personally understand that they are vouching for your responsibility to carry a handgun.

What kind of bullshit is that?

"Asked of 3 references (each who must have known you for at least 3 years):  "I am personally acquainted with _______ , the applicant named on page one of this application. I have known Him/Her for ______
the past years to be a person of good moral character and behavior and who is capable of exercising self control.
I have reviewed this application and I believe that the answers given by the applicant to the questions set forth in this application are complete, true and correct.

So three references have to attest to and sign off on ALL the questions in the entire application??

That shit can't be legal in light of the Bruen decision.

I was just reading about those cases, you are correct.

I really DO think the AWB will fall, as well as mag limits, and restrictions on buying ammo (requiring BG checks for ammo and restrictions of buying online).

The Bruen ruling has very significant impact on nearly all anti-2A laws.

What a shame for Murphy and the Leftists in the assembly. They were so happy after the Uvalde shooting, everything seemed to be going their way.

The dems COULD seriously hobble the GOP for a generation by simply laying off gun control and blaming scouts. Without the gun vote, the GOP woold pretty much be crippled at the national level. But they are too stupid to see this...

    Highly unlikely.

Gun control is one of the sacraments for dems, along with open borders, climate change and abortion.

When they make these stringent rules.  How many of you will actually qualify.   And re qualify?   Dont kid yourselves thinking it will be that easy.

Murphy isn't going to be Governor forever.

We may get a republican governor worth a damn someday, especially after eight years of hatchet face and 4 years of Biden.

Gonna be real interesting to see what the NJ legislature does with the 7 or 9 or whatever new bills they're chewing through right now, as in today.

    Pass them?

We should've have been campaigning for Sweeney's re-election, he was the last of what could be called a moderate democrat in N.J. they're all hard core Leftists now.

As to why we haven't had a mass shooting yet in NJ, I'm thinking it boils down to luck

It wouldn't look too good for the Left if a state with it's own form of AWB ban and numerous other restrictions had a mass shooting.

The "we need more gun control laws" argument is getting old, people don't believe it anymore, (not that it stops them from hacking away at our liberties anyway).

Can you guys give me some suggestions?

Is this a range toy or a primary SD weapon?

If the latter, I would suggest a semi-auto 9 mm striker fired without manual safety and the highest capacity mag (10rd in NJ). Personally, I prefer S&W M&P line, you might like the full size M&P9 M2.0  or the SD9 if on a budget. They've come out with a lot of different versions lately so it may be confusing at first.

For a range toy get what you like and feel comfortable with.

.  I dunno why the picked refineries to prop up the party, it's the freaking OIL stupid (not you Peel, you're a peach), We had enough refineries in 2019 to keep supply up to demand, what's the point in rebooting a shuttered refinery, it can only add to the problem of not having enough oil to refine.

Refinery capacity is way down since covid.

There are three or four refineries on the east coast compared to seven ten years ago. Thats a big part of the reason gas and distillates are at record prices while crude oil is not
