  1. I didn't notice anywhere, just how much land you have or where it is located but this needs to be taken into account when you look at rifles.  Even .22's travel a long way if not impeded by a berm, tree, building or body.

5.56 ammo can travel accurately out to about 700 yards.  After that, the flight destabilizes but it can still do damage.

So, you need to know just how far away things that you do NOT want to hit will be.

On the other hand, there are low recoil shells in all gauges and it's mostly a matter of getting used to the recoil more often than not being able to handle it.

    shoot, shovel, shut up?

I'm with you on this one but was looking for the OTHER answers . . . By the way . . . I could have likely opened it myself.

The problem with opening it up there is that it was a REALLY good deal when the owner didn't know what was in it.  He could have had it opened and then sold the safe and the contents separately.

  3. I put this here because I wasn't sure where it should go.  The question is now moot because I missed out on the sale but I'm still interested.

I had the opportunity to buy a gun safe in another state.  The owner of the safe can't open it and doesn't know if there is anything inside or what MAY be there.  Safe was dad's and dad passed quite some time ago.

So, I don't know what's in the safe either.

If I was to go buy the safe, transport it to NJ and open it here.  How do I take legal possession of what's inside?  The same question could be asked about buying a used car and later finding a gun or buying a home for rehab and finding weapons inside.  I've been through houses that literally had a foot or more of trash on the floor and hadn't been occupied for years.

I'm sure that if I find a gun in the woods, in good working order, I'm required to turn it in to the police since it may have recently been used in a crime before being dumped.  But, even then, what happens if it ends up that the gun can't be traced to the proper owner?

  4. To the extent that this is moisture related, it's most likely that it the result of steam gathering in the opening to the skylight.  How's the exhaust fan in the bathroom?  Do you use it consistently?  Does everyone in the house?  If the fan is falling short of it's work, try leaving the door open while in the shower and for a while after you are done in the bathroom or leaving the window open  a crack.

  5. I wish that I could find it but many years ago, I read a report that studied LEO involved gun fights.  It showed that the average took place at a distance of less than ten feet, twenty rounds were fired and no one was injured.  I have also heard, second hand, that most of the weapons carried by local LEOs may not even fire if they pulled the trigger.  They don't go to the range and don't clean their weapons.  They turn them to the armory every two years for cleaning.

It also uncluded 5 original beretta mags. So he marked it up with only 2 mags. But my point was that he used a scratch as an excuse to get me to take his offer. I just didn't know any better at the time.

I don't see anything wrong with that deal at all.  You don't get anywhere near value when you sell to a dealer.  They are looking at mark up.  I would have sold the mags and the ammo separately as well.  So, 25% of what he gave you for the gun isn't unreasonable at all.

As to the OP's question:  Send a registered letter to the FFL business address demanding that the upper be returned, complete or not, within eight business days of receipt.  After that, you start with the BBB and the possibility of filing theft charges.  They aren't going to want cop cars outside initiating an investigation.

The right to own a firearm in the United States of American shouldn't have anything to do with the color of your skin or one's ethnicity.

You are correct.  Completely.  However, the current Left likes to pretend that 2A groups are just a bunch of redneck, racist pigs and organizations that fight that stereotype ARE a positive.

Why all the lack of love on the pistol caliber carbines?

I don't have a problem with a pistol caliber carbine at all . . . That wasn't the point of my statement.

My entire post was about the idea of looking at what's available.  Keeping weapons that use a variety of calibers will better allow him to purchase what's available when it's available.

I'm also a little tired of hearing that you can't get guns or ammo or that everything is wildly over priced.  In the last six months, I've added two 9mm handguns, a .22 handgun, a shotgun and an AR along with a lot of ammo.  When I go out and look, I find what I need.  The AR that I bought is built on a Palmetto Arms lower and I paid about $650 all NJ legal.  I can find any ammo that want online, tonight.

Now . . . All of this may change with the new administration but we are talking about today.
