  1. I have seven TWO HK USP 9mm full size 10-round magazines.   They are all in original packaging.  I recently sold the pistol.   I know they go for around $49 discounted online.  I will sell them for $25 each plus whatever shipping is.   I would rather sell the lot but am fine breaking it up also.

    Also selling:

MEPROLIGHT Mepro Tru-Dot Fixed tritium Day and Night Pistol Sights, Compatible with H&K USP Full Size, Tactical,Expert Model, Yellow Orange dots

Still in packaging...  Brand new.  $75 shipped for the sights.

    Thanks!

I may have misunderstood, were you quoting the price for the NRA CCW class alone, or both Basic Safety and CCW classes combined? I had the NRA Basic Handgun and Safety class back in 2016.

I agree it's a big black hole for time. I'm retired, but I still have other stuff to get done. A nearby Postnet does both passport photos and notary work, I'm hoping to get both done there without paying an outrageous sum.

CCW course was around $150 and Basic Pistol Safety was around $160.   Holster draw was around $85 or $90 I think.  The price for the CCW course included the qualification.

I had a price for the NRA CCW class from two different ranges of $295 (Including live fire) for a two-day class. I had the (possibly mistaken) idea that NRA was dictating the tuition for that class. I was also told to bring 350 - 400 rounds of ammo. Did the prices you were given include ammo, or a discount on same?

I heard the FARS rumor, and thought about waiting for NJ to streamline the process. I also thought of waiting to see if some of what I think to be the more ridiculous requirements might soon become the subject of injunctions, either at the behest of our civilian advocacy organizations, or as a side-effect of the lawsuit current being pursued by LEOSA against NJ regarding requirements imposed on RPOs. I decided that, since I'm over 70, have non-resident CHP in four states already, and never really expected to have a chance to do this in NJ, that I did not want to wait.

The CCW class was several hours of classroom training with the live fire qualification at the end, which was 50 rounds in total.  The basic pistol safety class was several hours of classroom time with a simple safety live fire check at the end of 20 rounds.

Now the holster draw class I took was around 300 rounds all in all...

None of this counts the around 1000 rounds of preparation practice over the past couple weeks.

I wasn't counting the cost of ammo.

I know I overpaid for the notary, but I didn't want the paperwork sitting my desk another day.  It's a time suck and honestly driving all over the place has a cost of time as it prevents folks from taking care of their other priorities for work or whatever as this all has to be done during business hours.

I agree there is a lot of ambiguity, which is why more is better if there is a question or concern.  There should be standardized forms for training instructors to train against and sign.

That's valid, but... I'm not sure how someone should go about challenging a particular requirement, without knowing what the standard requirement is supposed to be. Unfortunately, the vagarities and contradictions among the NJ Statutes, Adminstrative Code, and NJSP guidelines is working in the graboids' favor at this point. For example, in spite of the fact that several posters have pointed out that the actual legally binding requirements are those stated in the New Jersey Revised Statutes Section 2C:58-4(c & d), there are any number of other posters in this thread continuing to state and debate what is in the Adminstrative Code and/or the NJSP guidelines on that subject. I'm not completely convinced that thrust of the first litigation shoudn't be to force the state to be consistent and eliminate the contradictions from those documents.

It was suggested to us to simply over-deliver against the requirements.   Submit copy of NRA Basic Pistol Safety course, submit copy of NRA CCW course (inclusive of live fire qualification).      I suppose it is a pricey endeavor.  $300 - $400 on classes, $200 notary (don't say it, I couldn't find a notary at any UPS store across three towns), $50 application, $30 photos, $95 for IdentiGo, and probably some other misc costs (lost time traveling all over the place for prints and signatures, blah, blah, blah).  Call it around $600.

Still seems worth it though.   Honestly the fragmented process requirements are more burdensome than the costs but that's the known consequence of trying to get in early before streamlined changes to the system might be made.  I am hearing that this process might migrate into FARS at some point, etc., but that's all speculative.

  5. Got my paperwork in today.  The folks at the office couldn't have been more helpful and outgoing.   They went through the check-list for each document.  They didn't screen each document for content but they did go one by one.

Of course it was then a major pain to get an IdentiGo appointment.  I had to take what I could get and will be driving over an hour each way.  That was a bit of a surprise.  I am just glad I got the packet in.  It's amazing how long it takes to complete (cutting down passport photos, notary, driving around to get all the wet signatures, money order, etc.).

  6. Can anyone confirm that the new guidance on pistol qualification for CCW only requires qualification with a pistol owned, but doesn't restrict carry to that pistol?  I am reading the SP memo and it says that any handgun acquired AFTER the issuance of the CCW may be carried and doesn't require additional qualification.  What does that mean for other legally owned pistols acquired BEFORE the CCW but not tested on for certification?   Thank you.

  7. I have  brand new, still in packaging, Rock River Operator A2 Fixed Stock kit in BLACK that I don't need.   It's MilSpec...

It's a full size fixed stock.  I have used these on many of my ARs over the years in lieu of a pinned stock.  It's a full kit.  They sell for $140.  I am happy to sell it for $100 shipped.   Posting it here as it's us NJ folks who are more likely to use them.

I also have a second of the same model but in olive green.   That one is not new in the bag, it was mounted but as no signs of any wear.  Sat in a safe.   If you need one in olive green, let me know.  I will sell that one for $90 shipped.

Also. If you do get a ffl to accept it and modify it.  I would have them fully explain why and how it is legal.   Because in the end.  You are wholly responsible for its ownership if its not legal.  I wanted to buy one years ago at tanners in pa.  They wouldn’t ship it to nj because on the no no list its lasted as galil type.  Now. What that exactly means.  I am not exactly sure.  Good luck.  Keep us informed how it goes.

Sage advice...   I haven't made any purchase yet.  I am still trying to confirm what I am being told (which is that the Galil Ace 2 is not the same as what was specifically intended by "Galil Type" - the Galil Ace 2 is a completely different firearm, similar to the Colt AR-15 like variants that are not AR-15s) but I will admit I am still trying to do my homework and in the end it's not that important to have, but I was excited about the prospect of being able to own one.
