  1. Yes, I'm sure. In fact, I just got confirmation from the state that my FFL has completed the step he needs to take...here is the cut and paste from that email: "We have received the Seller's Certification from the NJ Licensed Firearms Dealer that you requested for the following Multiple Handgun Purchase Exemption application: Action Taken By Seller: Accepted" So now it's a matter of the total package being processed and sent on to my local PD, then approved. Again, this was necessary because I made a deal to purchase two specific handguns at the same time from the same person, and this is the right way to do it.
  2. That's what I did. Took JB's advice. Why would I need to be fingerprinted again? I did do a cancellation on-line though to avoid any issues.
  3. That's what I was hoping to hear!
  4. Ok, so first, if I'm posting this in the wrong section, my apologies. Also, my apologies for asking what may be a dumb question....as you guys may have surmised, I am pretty good at that. (Based on my previous confusion about securing multiple handgun purchase permits) What I have learned here since joining recently is at least two things: 1. You guys know WAY more than I do and you're willing to help., and, 2., I know LESS than I thought I did because in the years since my last handgun purchases (about 7-8 years ago), things have changed A LOT! So here's my question..... My wife just reminded me that I have an appointment tomorrow to get my fingerprints done. Do I need to keep it? When I filed for my purchase permits recently, I made a mistake and listed the seller instead of the FLL as the "transferor". I then found out unless we both met certain criteria (like both being LEO's or having a certain license), then that space should have the FLL listed who is assisting the transaction, not the person selling the handguns. I went back and filed the correct application, but in the meantime, the first one had sent me the site where you set up an appointment to get fingerprinted, and I set up an appointment thinking it was the thing to do. But after the second, correct application, it did not send me to that site, and I figured it "knew" I already had an appointment. THEN.....a few remaining brain cells kicked in and I asked myself; "Why would I need to be fingerprinted again, when that was done years ago when I got my Firearms ID Card? Bottom line is...do I need to keep that appointment, or forget about it? I'd like to NOT have to get up and drive to Cherry Hill, a bit of a ride, if I don't have to! But if I DO have to, then of course I want to do it and get it over with! Advice?
  5. Ok, I understand it wasn't an attack. All I can say is, I literally, LITERALLY, just had to file an application to purchase two handguns being held for me by the FLL I use. And I HAD TO (in other words, it was NOT optional!) fill out the make, model number, and serial number of each of the two guns I want to buy. I didn't ask them if they wanted the information! It was REQUIRED for me to hit the word "continue" on the application on-line. I don't know what else to tell you. Why would I make this up?? And to be clear, as soon as I changed the "1" on how many permits I wanted to "2", that's when I had to file for the exemption. BTW, sorry if I am coming off as "hostile" in any way! I don't mean to be at all...I am just really confused here!
  6. Before you call "BS", read my post. I was quite clear. I literally said I applied for two permits, which requires an exemption application, which requires naming the guns you're buying. And btw, why in the world would I "BS" in a post on this forum? What would possibly be my motivation?? I haven't "lied" to anyone except my wife in years, but I had reasons for that! I certainly have no reason to do it here! LOL!
  7. I just applied for two permits and was required to provide the make, model, and serial number of the handguns I want to purchase. In the past, when everything was on paper, specifics weren't required, but this is my first time applying for permits on line and that info was required.
  8. I'd only feel the need to have copies if I really have to have them. If not, then, not. I guess that's really my question. Do I actually need them, or do I just "feel" I need them? If I don't actually need them I am not going to worry about it.
  9. "I think it' the beaten-dog syndrome that we face in NJ..." Well said! Good Morning Gentlemen! I really appreciate the feedback on this subject. I suppose having LEO friends and seeing how things can go very sideways sometimes, even when the best intentions are there, I am just a little paranoid about getting myself in a bad situation, considering how seriously firearms violations can affect one's life. I don't have a very large collection.....a few handguns (two more as soon as my permits come back approved) and some long arms, (just added a few more over the weekend) and I don't get the practice I should anymore. I used to really enjoy going to the range and would blow through a couple hundred dollars worth of ammo each time. Then "life got in the way" and that time and related expense had to be set aside. I'm ready to get back into it as I did before, or at least a lot more than it has been anyway. And I want to make sure I am doing it right, and don't find myself in a situation that could turn out badly for me. The help I'm finding here from all of you is deeply appreciated!
  10. Thanks for the fast response! To be honest I got myself all stressed out about it. Is there any scenario where I could be asked to produce them? Not interested in selling them, but if I want to take them to the range, etc, etc. Or maybe some other situation I am not thinking of?
  11. Just signed up and I already see a lot of threads that look like great reading! How did I find this forum? Tonight I was organizing some paperwork, having just purchased some rifles, and completed my on-line app to secure permits to buy two more handguns..... That's when the "problem" arose! I was inserting the registration paperwork for the rifles into my firearms folder, and discovered that I am missing my copy of my handgun purchase permits for two of my handguns. I have NO idea why they aren't with the others, but at my age I have misplaced lots of important papers! My question is....how dire is this predicament? Is it absolutely critical that I have a copy of the purchase permit for every handgun I own? (They were legally purchased with the right permits when I bought them) These are for two handguns I bought years (at least 10-15 years) ago, and honestly, I haven't seen them in years, but I haven't actually looked for them either, until today. (I would have sworn they were right in the file with the others.) So anyway, should I be highly concerned, or not care, or something in-between? Is the purchase permit something I could be demanded to produce, and suffer penalty of some kind if I can't? I don't want to stress about it if I don't need to, but if I do have a problem, suggestions to resolve would be greatly appreciated!
