  1. Would you drive a little while for free lessons at a cheap club. Try Pine Belt in Indian Mills, Near Medford NJ. The guys there will teach you how to shoot skeet, show you the leads, give you advice and shoot plenty of rounds with you. If you want to get better they will hire on as a coach.

It is the nicest and most affordable skeet and trap facility in Jersey. Or call them and see if you can ask them some questions. They might point you to Fort Dix also.

  2. Hmm... had to go look one of those up, I had not heard of that new model. What does that grip feel like? And what is the story with the Super Luminova removable front sight?

  3. ok all....

Lately I have been hearing alot of "Medord is in Central Jersey." or... Meadowlands are North Jersey" comments. But nobody knows the lines of delineation. I grew up in Cherry Hill where I now reside. I always figured anything south of Trenton was South Jersey.... Trenton to the Meadowlands was Central and all the rest through Warren County and east was North Jersey.

What is your opinions of the line of delineation? What are your NJ Mason Dixon Lines?

  4. Here are two I have used.

Florence NJ, try Bob Swartzkopf @ 609-499-0787. If he cant help you he might be able to recomend someone. He builds custom 1911 for competition shooters and is the NJ DOC Range Officer and Trainer. He does work and ffl stuff on side, so be patient.

Winters Guns in Berlin @ 856-767-0349 has done some work for me on an Auto5 and a S&W m19. I was very happy.

  5. Had one.... heckuva lot fun. I found it to be a great shooter, fun stress relief with little cost to run. I personally love .22 so it was a blast for me. I purchased a mount from a ebay seller, and mounted at truglo x2 rd on it. I sold it recently.... It was a great little ...toy. I know...most guns are just toys, but it really did nothing a 10/22 or 597 cant. Actually it was not even that accurate with the stock sights. So I used that money for something more real and got a 597 to burn ammo. I loved it, but it was a short relationship.

  6. I have owned three... and each time I get rid of it. I love the feel, the quality, the manual of arms makes sense for me since I am a southpaw, very stylish. I just cant hit a barn side with it. I dont know why, but they jump like the dickens in my paws. I love them.... Ijust cant shoot them. It realy burns my ass a little to be honest.

  7. Nice store and a good selection. I stopped in their last week also. Bought some .45....

I found them to be very high priced. But I admit to pricing against internet and other shops.

But $75 for a FFL w/ nics is nothing great. Doesn,t butch do it for $45.... heck my guy in Florence is $38.

  8. www.browningguncenter.com

I was driving down to Cape May Court House today, down Rt 55, then 47 to 347 S and so forth. I had heard rumors of a nice shop down that way, so I looked it up and decided to stop in today.

Boy, what a great place. Mostly Browning long guns, which I am good with, a decent collection of SIG, GLocks, revolvers and some used guns. Lots of 16g, I love the 16!

Nice store, good selection, high quality, plenty of extras, clothes you name it. And it was not overpriced. Granted nothing was a screaming deal either, but everything was fair.

Owner was extremely nice and knowledgeable. I did not catch his name and I feel rude for not inroducing myself, but I will next time I am down that way.

    A big thumbs up.

  9. I have used Ammoman many times. I live only 15 mins from his outfit, so it is easy for me. I say that he has not had any ammo I wanted in about 6 mos. But when he does, I will buy more. He always knocks off $20 or so for pickup and a little more if cash deal. See his stock online and call ahead to setup a pickup time. He is not a drop in type of place.

I ready many posts about the rifle issue mentioned above. I personally did not get any sort of resolution from either side's argument, both were inadequate. Main issue seemed to surround his return policy. I am undecided on the issue.

  10. I have been working on a business plan, need to start looking into local zoning regs, manufacturers/distributor rules and regs as well as get in front of the local pd.

Funding will be tight, but I hope to back this business with my other. We shall see... I think it is a pipe dream right now, but maybe it will work out. My biggest worry is local zoning.

  11. Thanks for the hints and thoughts. I will admit to a small case of "toy box" mentality in regards to opening a store, but my desire to give this a shot stems from my frustration over the current state of gun mongers here in NJ and Philly. As a whole, they leave much to be desired. There are a few pearls, no gems, here and there, and I am not fooling myself by thinking that the STATE is not mostly responsible for that rotting condition. Here is my current business philosophy, tell me what you all think.

If gunnies and shop owners are in this embattled state together in NJ, why is there not a shop that really caters to the shooters. Not just peddling firearms, hell anyone can do that. I am talking about good products (I am sick of seeing Taurus and Hipoints everywhere), good prices and GREAT customer service in a clean, open, congenial and safe atmosphere. A place where the customer is not just a customer, definitely not $$$$, but an integral part of the concession team, a cog in helping NJ 2A advocates and supporters push forth their agenda.

I will admit a few things and share some store thoughts with you. I am not a black rifle guy, but there will be a selection. I like 1911s, but there will not be 20 of them and one XD.... I will try to carry a varied selection. Transfers will be approx $35-$40. I will work a customer available computer with you to find whatever you need. I will show you costs on ordered product and tell you what my markup will be. There will be more gun books then cheap holsters, more ammo then scopes. I will try to carry high end shotguns along with some cheap military surplus goods. There will be some chairs and mags to sit and wait out NICS calls.

  12. I have a pair of English Setters. I love my dogs and hunting with them is really just a long hike with a heavy stick for me, I just watch them work and rarely shoot. I moved them here from Ga, and they have adapted well. I used to hunt them on Ruffs in the N. Ga mountains, along the App Trail. Great stuff....

Hannah is now 12, she is a Lewellen Setter, Belton or blue/black ticked. She is a total bitch, very dominant and tough. I have witnessed her cower bigger and stronger GSPs many times. Which is really funny because she is one of the nicest animals, very silly acting, never grown up and still jumps around like a 4 month old puppy. Great with kids. She only hunted a few times this past season and I think she is done now, he legs are really getting creaky. A real shame...she has given me some great times over the years.

Richmond is my 6 yo male, bench style with tricolor markings. One of the most athletic, docile, sweet and handsome animals I have ever met. Problem is, he is about the dumbest also. He gets lost in our back yard! He is a great dog and a wonderful pet. He was a forming into a really good field trial dog when we moved. I have been trying to turn him into a more close working dog, and this last season it seemed to work well.... I hunted him on rabbits and he did well. But he is so fast, I can blink and he will be gone, just running for the fun of it. Then he forgets what he is doing! He is pretty though.

    Guess which is which?
