    Great video. I am going to acguire a go pro and chest rig for mountain biking videos... Might want to try the chest rig if you want to do this more. In mountain biking it is a great trainer for seeing how your tempo is into turns and such... Plus just plain fun.

    I was typing on my phone last night so my response was a little truncated. Take a look at this .pdf document I put together that encompasses the 5yr truc cost to own from Edmunds.com plus the avg approx cost(??) I was able to find that moodel car listed. A few surpises came out at me...

     

    a) The Subaru Legacy loses on 8K in depreciation over 5 yrs!!! BMW 528 almost 25K!

    b) The cost to insure a Lexus EX350 is almost double other cars on the list. It is very common auto theft target.

    c) Repair costs on the A4 were much less then expected, true for the Volvo also. But after 5 yrs those costs skyrocket.

     

    Take a look and see for yourself. Then drive and chose then one you like the most. My wife did not like the Genesis, no did I, until she drove the 4.6liter v8. Power corrupts!

    I just went through this and shopped one to two yr old cars... less then 25k miles, leather and all features for a budget target of about 25-30k. We drove Audi a4, bmw328i, BMW 528i, lexis is250, Lexus es350, merc c300, infiniti g37, Acura tax and tl, Cadillac CTS, Hyundai genesis, Volvo s80, Subaru's legacy, Chrysler 300, Nissan maxima.

     

    We bought a certified hyundai genesis 4.6 with 10k miles. A great driving car with really good reliability and fantastic resale. Paid exactly the same amount as a Honda accord loaded 4cyl. And interest rates are so low right now.. we got 1.9% from a credit union.

    The carry versions are significantly lighter, at the cost of weaker frames. But I doubt you nor I will ever shoot the life out of one. That being said, if you like it and shoot it well, buy it. There are plenty of .45acp options out there, I would suggest one that carries more in it's magazine (xd45, g21, fn usgs45) but the p220s are great choices... if you dont mind springy triggers (sproing!!!!). I never could get used to it.

     

    If I am going to limit myself to 8rd... I choose a 1911.

    Who are you equating to Hitler... Obama? Really? And yes I know a gov can turn on it's people. Yes I know about Waco and Ruby Rudge etc etc etc, If you think we are anywhere close to giving in as a country you are what I am referring to.

     

    Are we closer then ever... maybe. I still say our pre civil war days were pretty bleak as a country.

    I am back....

     

    Original idea was to stay focused on eating the elephant. It is time to be upset, it is time to be HIGHLY motivated, it is time to face down opposition. My comments were mainly directed at the tinfoil hat type threads and cold dead hands bravado statements. I have seen some SHTF, I have seen people suffering, fear and oppresison. We are nowhere near that. And if you think Sandy put you in a full fledged old school SHTF, your mistaken. That was the minor leagues.

     

    When the floods come and your house is an island you will stand guard of course.

    When the rescuers come and want to take you and your family to safety, you will go.

    When the NG tells you to leave your firearms or hand them over so your family can be taken to safety... what are you going to do.. shoot? Really? Are you going to watch you wife and kids scream while you take your last breaths? Or better yet, watch them bleed out because YOU fired on LEO or NG?

     

    This country IS going in the crapper quickly, but it is through very poor leadership that have conviently forgoten what it is to be an American, coupled with factions that are more interested in finger pointing and classifying people based on who they voted for then FIXING THE F'CKING problems. And this is not a new trend, if anything it is a cycle. go back and review your history books and look for parrables. Stop looking for faults and find solutions, work within the teams to repair the problem. Stop pointing out where the leak is and fix the pipe.

     

    And trust me, an ostrich I am not, and if and when the barricades are needed, I will be there first with pick and shovel. But if you think there is a over arching scheme to break the US so we can all become Chinese-Islamic-Euro socialist weenies, you completely over estimate our government and under estimate the people.

     

    We are all on the same team. I have become more involved becuase I regret not being more involved a few years ago. I have been a shooter and an advocate for over 25yrs... my attitudes, likes and dislikes in regards to shooting sports and hungting have come and gone and change with the seasons. But one thing that has always held constant is my belief that the 2A is the most important after speech. It gives teeth to all the other amendments. While I was ignorant of the importance of the black rifles in the 2a at first, my thoughts were changed by education. I would like to think the same thing could be influenced on every anti we come into contact with.

     

    I was trying to think of an overall strategy suggestion, try to pick the solutions not just the problem, and it became painfully obvious.

    We the citizens have placed so much importance on the election of federal offices that we have completely ignored our locals that really influence our lives in a much greate fashion. And in particular I notice that here in NJ. In Georgia the local elections are VERY important, with county run systems that can f' up your life quickly if they are allowed to run rampant. Turn out in local elections in rural states should show us the path forward, as they always have high turnout. How is your voting turnout in the last 5 local elections? Are you proud of it, were you just to busy to make it to the polls. I am not calling anyone out here, just trying to see if we can ID an issue. Where are the politicians now that are in office, are they the ones you wanted or not? Are they a problem for NJ or not? I have always liked the idea of a Dem sensitive President with a conservative Sen and House. I would like to see more conservatives in our local reps.

     

    I am going to run for an office. I am going to try to invoke change from inside. I am going to try to make my circle or area of influence a better place by taking back the gov from elitist that think they are always right, and truly find out what the people want.

     

    I laugh at my friends here that think the middle of this country is a wasteland of wheat fields and country music. Where as the people from the middle of the country feel that NJ is the land of Sopranos and Jersey Shore. I quess stereotypes exist for a reason, but one thing unites us and that is that we are all Americans and I think we all need to remember that in the end, that America is the pursuit of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness for all.

    I think there's a large group of people on this forum right now losing their way. Recent happenings have maybe wound the rubber bands a little too tight for some. There are many on this form right now are extremely tin foil hat centric. If some stupid ass political choices by the party in power has you all planning for Armageddon you may want to reconsider where you get your news and how you research things and possibly view happenings. Go ahead and call me an ostrich for sticking my head in the sand but the tension level you created around on this board is way too high. Some of you may want to put down the keyboard and pick up a liquor bottle or a bong and chill the F out.

     

    we need to fight for our human rights and get rid of the politicians that are corrupt not plan for the take over by the federal government which is not going to happen.

    Blast away all you want... you all are losing it. Stay focused.
