  1. They shouldn't need to change the rate, the revenue goes up automatically. There are a LOT more drivers than there were decades ago, and a LOT more gas is being sold. If there is a shortfall, it means they are doing something wrong, which I think the 'cost per mile paved' post captured

FYI. The number of drivers of personal vehicles is going down particularly among the younger crowd. Combine this with more effecient automobiles, I suspect that a gas tax won't be enough soon and we'll be doing this nonsense again. Who wants to bet that the next suggestion from our benevolent dictators is that we all install a box in our cars and pay per mile driven on the government roads?

WTF can't we have private roads since NJ sucks at maintaining the public ones?

  2. Rockland county bound. But, I can tell you with the daily lane changes. now most likely suspended due to the accident repair, even 3 lanes to Westchester would see a fair amount of traffic in the PM. If you are planning to use the Cross Westchester I-95 or I-684 or Hutch/Merritt or Saw Mill, or Sprain Brook/Taconic, that is no picnic either on a Friday PM. Traffic from NYC and lower Westchester headed north as well. Plenty of alternate ways to get around. Which general way into CT. When I had to be in Brewster or Bethel, CT (Danbury) early, I would take the Thruway north to I-84 east only added 11 miles to the trip and a lot less traffic.

+1 on that. The Hamilton Fish Newburg Beacon bridge is still only $1.50 too versus $5 for the Tapan Zee. You get those 11 miles back in cash.

I84 is a much nicer ride until you hit Waterbury.

  3. Although females attempt suicide at a higher rate, they are more likely to use methods that are less immediately lethal. Males frequently complete suicide via high mortality actions such as hanging, carbon-monoxide poisoning, and firearms. This is in contrast to females, who tend to rely on drug overdosing

If the Transgender people who are interested in shooting and want to vote for pro gun policicians, they're welcome.

  4. That's up to the range. I never said either training was complete by any means. Just offered two ranges where some level was required that I didn't take issue with. Another example, on paper you have to take hunter safety class to get a hunting license and shoot at the state range. In practice not so much.

  5. On the range training issue, I've personally been to ranges that you had to pass a written test on gun safety before being allowed to shoot. Cherry Ridge requires you attend a safety lecture to get a membership to shoot at their range. I'm ok with all of that. What I take issue is handing the government of NJ means to create additional barriers to gun OWNERSHIP. Being at a private range it's no problem for me to prove that I'm not a danger to the guy or gal shooting next to me.
