We have a few car mechanics on the site with their own shop.  @NJJim comes to mind.  Perhaps can help you or point you in right direction.

Thanks. This isn't the kind of job I would take on.

Looks like plenty of advice given already. My first question would be "How much is this thing worth?" Is it really worth spending that much money? A used unit would be my choice for something that old unless it is restored or pristine condition. And the rest of the truck will last hundreds of thousands more miles.

  2. I didn't see this post earlier but here's my story anyway.

I am 75 and started to smoke at age 8. Once in a while my buddy from the neighborhood would sneak a pack of his parents cigs.

They were chain smokers and never missed a pack here and there.

I started regularly at about 12 years old. Bought my own and smoked 'em.

At 16 I was allowed to smoke by my parents. From there I smoked 1-2 packs a day until I had an experience with a close friends drug addiction. He had finally hit bottom and asked for help.  I helped get him into a good rehab facility and he got clean. He's still clean almost twenty years later.

As to my smoking, I tried many times (too many to count) Gum, gradual  tapering off and cold turkey. Over a couple of months I would get down to two a day. Easy. Easy because I new tomorrow morning or tonight I could have another. Never could get to zero.

My own self esteem got me to quit. "Do I have the will power to do this?" I asked myself. Yes. I had to prove to myself I could do it. After all, my friend had quit crack and all the rest. Well it has been eighteen years now and I still get the urge now and then but it only lasts a few seconds. I don't want to think of myself as weak.

If you really want to quit it is not impossible. But you really have to want to do it.

    ^^^ This

The RAR Rimfire is an excellent rifle and it will not break the bank.  It also comes in a reconfigurable stock to adjust length of pull to accommodate shooters of variable stature.  It even comes in a Talo Muddy Girl.

This was the first thing came to me when reading original post. Don't have personal experience but looks to fit the bill.

Perhaps we use a bit different terminology. I dont consider some of these "comfort" items. For example, eye box. Not really a comfort thing so much as it is being set up correctly to function. I pick my scope position on my rail, for example, by finding my NPA shooting prone and then I find it shooting sitting. Then I split the difference between the two so that I can have a good eyebox for different positions. Many people set up their scope for the bench and then cant figure out why they are all out of sorts when they go prone.

OK you win. "No you can't share. It just won't work honey. You need to get your own so you can achieve your full potential. Shooting mine will hold you back."

My point was the rifle will shoot the same no matter who presses the trigger. The rifle does not know one shooter from another.

Parallax is not the only issue. Eyebox, NPA etc etc are all issues. This is what makes sharing difficult IF your both trying to achieve bug hole precision for extended shooting sessions. If she has to crane her neck or completely pull out of a NPA it will affect the results. This could be aided by an adjustable stock but, I cant stand changing any of my settings once its right for me. Hell it takes me forever to get my seat right in my truck after an oil change done by a midget let alone the super duper amount of adjustment of a stock system.

I agree with the issues you mention. But, they are to do with the rifle fitting the shooter. "Comfort".

  6. Why not? If shooting with iron sights the sight picture is either correct or not with any shooter.  If shooting with a scope your scope will need to have an adjustable objective. Then if adjusted correctly it will shoot the same for any shooter. Check out this article on parallax. The only consideration between shooters is comfort. It is assumed the scope is quality and mounted correctly .

  7. While I'd prefer they let stores do this as a credit instead (Target will credit you 5 cents per bag re-used), I'm ok with this in general.  I much prefer to use my own bags.  I have a set of 5 canvas bags and a couple of insulated bags I keep in my car, all the bags fit inside the biggest one.

Throw them in the shopping cart as I head into the store, bag into them at checkout, never have to worry about them breaking when hauling from the car to inside the house.  One set of sturdy handles to grab that don't cut into my hand, no struggle to keep everything inside the bag.

It's a simple habit to get into.

I wouldn't shop at Target. Not for anything. I don't care if they gave me $$$ per bag.

Here is one reason :  http://thefederalist.com/2016/05/19/this-man-saved-a-girl-from-being-stabbed-to-death-and-now-target-is-suing-him-for-it/

    Their bathroom policy is another.

  8. I did not know Galves had retail prices.  In my past experience Galves is the most accurate Wholesale price guide. The bible of the dealer world.  I buy and sell a dozen or more cars and light trucks a year and use a combination of NADA, Edmunds,  KBB, Autotrader, Cars.com plus my experience to price a vehicle. I have sold cars on cars.com and autotrader with success. I won't go near craigs list.  Tried it and got nothing but tire kickers and scammers.

It's true that a car priced above 5-6 thousand is harder to sell. People need financing and don't know how to get it or can't be bothered. A dealer is easier because one stop shopping.

    Good luck!

  9. Many years ago I learned that is how it works in New Jersey. Local ordinance states everything is prohibited.  Just like firearms. That way the people in power can choose to ignore violations or not.  I was cited for a sign advertising gas prices lower than the competition. First I was told I had to move the sign back from the highway and even with the building. Then I was told I couldn't have it at all.  I checked the township regs and found I was only allowed one sign for my gas station. Even the price signs on top of the pumps were contrary to township ordinance. But they were required by the state. I could have a sign identifying the business only. Even signs inside that could be seen from the road through a window were prohibited. Unless of course, you were a member of the township council like my competition down the street. The zoning police let him and most others slide.

This was Hopewell township but most are similar.

  10. Password protected?

Those are for 1 x 2" frames built to be used in permanent "U" channels in the ground at CJRPC.

    Try some from here, http://njgunforums.com/forum/index.php/forum/139-yagzz-shooting-systems/

If you have a base all you need are a couple of 1" X 2" X 6' furring strips and some 2" spring clamps.

Clamp cardboard backer to strips, staple or tape target to backer.

    Here's mine.

I joined two pieces so they fit the trunk of my car.

  11. I've been using Verus Pro for three years. Night and day better than my Modis.  It is a windows XP based tablet.  I bought a HP 24" docking monitor to use when in the shop. I am pretty satisfied and only wish they would sell the software for use on a better platform. I also use it as a terminal in the shop for the web and Alldata.

  12. I bought from COD Oil for several years. They are Meenan Oil Co billing as Valley Fuel of Morrisville PA here in Ewing.Typically the difference between oil on a service plan and cod deliveries is 60-80 cents a gallon. Last year they caused me to shop again. The best advice I have is shop, shop, shop. I have seen prices as low as $2.19 per gallon for 200 gallons. It fluctuates daily.  To get the best deal only buy when you can use at least 200 gallons. I have a 550 tank so usually wait to get 300 to 400 gallons.  It makes a difference to the mom and pop, one truck dealers.

  13. I am a big fan of Super Colibris for rifle. Just bought a case two weeks ago. They allow me to get a shooting fix when I don't have time to go to the range. Regular Colibri doesn't always make it out of the barrel, (350 fps I think)but is OK for pistols.  Neither will cycle a semi automatic.  I have put holes in some pretty heavy sheet metal with Supers and indoors shoot into a home made trap filled with rubber mulch.  The Super Colibri are 550 fps muzzle velocity.

As for noise. Super Colibri out of a pistol is loud indoors. Out of a 20 to 24 inch rifle all you hear is the hammer fall and the 20 gr. bullet hitting the target.

  14. Normally their site shows if the product is unavailable/out of stock/back order and usually shows on your confirmation as well.  You may want to double check.

I don't need to double check! It shows on the web site now. My confirmation does not. All I got when I called was excuses.  "Oh, I was on vacation....................... Oh, so and so would have caught that next week.  We've been really busy. "  They also told me they don't charge credit cards until order ships. That was  a lie. My card was charged on day one.  I check my account multiple times a day.

  15. Well, I needed a couple pair of khakis so on 07/01/2014 I ordered 2 pair and two shirts.

Order was confirmed and credit card debited same day. I had not received shipping notice yet (07/07/14) so I inquired.

Pants are back ordered! Don't know when they were going to let me know but it would have been nice to know sooner.

Ordered scope bases from J & P custom products on 07/04/2014 and received them today.

Ordered rings and scope cover from Midsouth on 07/05/2014 and they were shipped today.

Ordered scope base from Amazon on 07/05/2014 and it was shipped today.

Not gonna do business with folks that take your money immediately and don't deliver.

Thumbs down for All American Clothing Co.
