  1. Now that I think about it, CJRPC was a little crowded last Sunday AM. I think I'll ask them to raise the dues at the next meeting.

Really! I'm getting tired of hearing about how expensive CJRPC is! If I can afford it anyone can.

Lunicy has it right in the post above. If you(anybody) can't gather up two or three hundred all at once, you need some financial counseling.

@ NJJim, How much I want to pay for anything is my business, and I don't need your advice on financial planning.

@ Lunicy, thanks for your answer ... I may yet join just to make the place crowded!:icon_lol:

  2. I've been on forums of some form or another since 1984 during the days of Fidonet, often in a staff position. What always happens, and I mean, every single time is that there will be a small group that churns along until it grows past a certain point. There will then be a rift that forms and grows over time. Eventually Some folks will run off, start a new forum and take a chunk of the people with them. Some will people disappear forever, others will "ride it out" and the process starts over. It's always about control and direction the forum is going. It will happen at every forum you post to and eventually if the forum gets big enough, it shrugs off the fleas fairly regularly. If the forum gets big enough the folks that post there eventually realize that no matter how privileged they feel, they don't get to control the rudder.

These events are very disruptive and one thing I've learned is not to "talk people out of it". There may be a short term gain in peace, but it just means that the final explosion is going to be worse. It's just best to ban some bad apples and strike their name from the record. Yes, seriously. heh.

One of my other forums(I helped form it) is just such an offshoot. The reason we started the new forum was that the owner of the other place outed himself as LIHOP that hinted at MIHOP. Quite a few of us took issue with that.

It's just a dynamic that is always there. If you are aware of it, you can mitigate the damage before it becomes fatal. I believe that Maks did such a thing here. The cancer wasn't malignant yet.

  3. I am picking up this workbench tonight!

Workbench 72 inches long; 30 inches wide; 30 inches high and 56 inches high to top of light. Bench has 110 electric and lighting.

The table top is wood covered with Formica, rest is all steel ... should be sturdy!

I am going to put a shelf (on the leg braces) and maybe a set of drawers underneath ...

  4. dont have FID yet?

$40 to join USPSA, shoot first match free.

Otherwise, most local matches are $20 for USPSA members, $25 for non members.

One match is one round (like in the video) or is it 2-3 rounds? How long were you there for the whole event?

I would be interested in trying this out, but right now I don't have a decent pistol (sold my Glock 19) to shoot with ... is there a charge to just come and watch?

In the meantime, could you post pics of gear you are using? or refer me to links with info.

  5. Yesterday at the VFGS I saw a device called the TAC Trigger. Basically it was a little metal piece that you attach to your trigger guard of any semi-auto that will help you "bump trigger" your gun to shoot faster. They were on sale for $50 but after I saw it I opted not to go for it. It looked pretty flimsy and made of a poor casting. Does anyone have any experience with this on their AR? My initial thought was I'd hate to put something on the gun that might be unreliable or actually jam the trigger if it broke.

got a link that describes how it works?

  6. Does the standard SAO CZ become equivalent to the SA mode of DA/SA CZ (manually cocked)? In other words, is the pull weight of SAO about the same as SA mode of DA/SA? If yes, then I would prefer the DA/SA (assuming has decocker) ... but obviously you guys are finding the feel is different, so there is something else that's better on the SAO? Got to try it out.

  7. Bryan,

CZ's are the ****. I really liked mine (of course it's sold now). The compacts (CZ75B Compact, PCR, etc) are my favorites. The full size have steel frames and slides. The compacts have steel slides and alloy frames, except for the 75B (the one I owned) that has a steel frame. They are extremely well made and very accurate and easy to shoot. The only thing that could stand improvement is the trigger. It has a long double action pull, and the single action causes the hammer to pull back a little before release. It's not horrible, but it could be better. A $35 Bill Springfield trigger job (http://www.triggerwo...et/pistols.html) later, and my gun shot like a champ. The single action CZ's have a great trigger right out of the box. JonF and Jermz (Jeremy) have single action CZs. Keith (NJPilot) at BA and Guy at Shore Shot both have DA/SA CZs.

Try it at Shore Shot. I am sure you'll like it. They are the only other non-poly gun around these days besides Sig.

Tony at TJ has couple of CZ's. I want to buy one too, but my PP's are booked for months now :icon_exclaim:

  8. Okay, I believe NJPilot has one, cause I think I tried it, but I have been looking at them all day.

    Who has a cz75?

    Whats your take on it?

    Experiences?

Looking for info, may want to take the plunge, maybe I can rent one at SS.

lunker had one .40, may still have it. It's a great all metal gun, minimal recoil.

  9. Ok I'm looking at prices here. Bent Creek in Allentown would be more centrally located for us, I would think. Their website shows a special up until the 15th of October, which is for up to 4 hunters, with a total of 15 pheasant. That would only be 81.25 per person if we can get four people, 97.50 if we have a guide plus tip. Another option, if we can get at least ten people to commit to a day would be a tower shoot. If you are interested please let me know and I will try to get this together. I'm thinking the first or second weekend in October.

Does this mean they release a fixed number of pheasant on a day? Hmmm, I am sure they will fly away if you don't get them! After that what, go home!?:icon_e_surprised:

  10. Came across this new scope in Guns&Ammo. I have the DMS-1, which is good quality, so I looked this up. I am considering this for my Marlin 30-06 bolt ... could also use it on the Mosin, and K98 (when I have it!)

Anyone has experience with this? Any thoughts on alternatives that may be a better value?

Millet link. Includes 35mm rings, which is a nice bonus (if they are good).

Lowest price found here, Need to factor in shipping ...

  11. Have seen some other sites getting together to go out to one of the preserves for pheasant before the season starts. Looking to see if there would be any interest here for people to get together a trip to either gibberson or bent creek as a warm up.

    Where are these places?
