  1. I'm going there tomorrow to get some .22LR and check the .223 REM prices. I normally reload .223 but I'm running out of primers.
  2. You guys make me glad I'm a member of Shongum. I've never been told to slow down my rate of fire or to only load 3 rounds. Of course, I show respect for the guns and the range. I think this is key.
  3. I use my Ruger 10/22 out to 100 yards, but it's not the best at this distance. I have quite a challenge hitting a 3" target with iron sites at this distance. 50 yards is much better.
  4. I was at a party over the weekend and I started talking to a guy who works at Picatinny Arsenal. He couldn't stay long, but I got as much info as I could before he left. He knew a lot about ballistics. In any case, he told me they have an indoor 300 meter range that can handle .50 caliber and more. He said that he couldn't use it since he's a civilian. We also talked about .17 caliber ballistics. He said they shoot flatter than most other calibers because of their high velocity. I wish I remember which .17 caliber he said he likes the best. There are quite a few of them.
  5. I can't take this state anymore. This state is doomed. I see no hope for it. It will only get worse. It's really a shame because NJ is such a great state: close to beaches, mountains, NYC, Phily, etc. But, I'm leaving for Texas or Florida after my kids get done with high school. I give up. They win.
  6. "Interview with Deputy Chief"? What does this mean? You had to have an interview with the police dept?
  7. Hackettstown Guns and Ammo? How is Hackettstown Guns and Ammo? They look pretty small. Do they have a good selection and prices?
  8. The one I go to is on Rt 46 in Ledgewood. They also have stores in Paramus and Ramsey both on Rt 17. The one is Ledgewood is decent. I bought a rifle and a revolver there years ago. I also try to buy my ammo and reloading supplies from them whenever I can so they stay in business. If they stopped selling guns and ammo, I'm not sure where I would go.
  9. I just bought a brick at Ramsey's about a month ago for $19.99. I hope the prices haven't gone up since then.

    intro

Welcome from Morris County. I just recently joined this forum myself.
  11. On the waiting list..... still deciding if it will be worth the expense.... How much longer do you have to wait? The dues aren't too bad. The ammo is another story.
  12. Hi all, I guess I should introduce myself even though I've already posted here. I see there's another Devils fan (DevsAdvocate) here. I read his intro and see he lives in Clark. That's where I grew up. I won't say how many years ago. I've been a member of Shongum Sportsmen Association since 1995 (I think  ). As for rifles, I own a Remington 700 in .233, a Ruger 10/22, and a M1 Garand. I got the M1 from the CMP (previously DCM) by qualifiying at Shongum. I never shot one before and used one of the club's M1. I did okay in the match, not last place! I think I came in the about 3/4 of the way down in the scores. As for handguns, I have a Browning Buckmark in .22LR and a S&W revolver in .357 Magnum. I also do reloading to keep ammo costs down. BTW, where have all the primers gone? My teenage son loves shooting too and comes with me to the range. He loves the Remington 700 bolt action rifle with Leupold scope. My eyesight isn't what it used to be and I think he can outshoot me with iron sights. Well, I rambled enough. All I can say is, "Let's go Devils!!!" devils4ever
  13. Thanks. You can call me "devs4" if you want.
  14. I've been a member of Shongum for almost 15 years. There was no waiting list when I joined. We really needed members then. How long is the waiting list now? I hope you enjoy it. Maybe, I'll see you there!
