  1. An old girlfriend used to dab a bit of Hoppes cleaner on her wrist & behind her ears before we went out on Saturday Night. She knew it'd get me goin'. Looking back now, I shoulda married her instead of dating her younger sister. Definitely a keeper...she even liked the smell of wet dogs in the apartment. --Daniel
  2. Drilling wouldn't help. It's the manufactured weight that's the problem. And the Charger is over 50oz from the factory. Now if Ruger would just make a lightweight synthetic stock for it. --Daniel
  3. Some of the best dogs I've ever owned have come from a Rescue Group or a Shelter. We got one old shelter b*tch who was 16 years old & she lived to 24 years! Tough as nails but sweet with the kids. Definitely a great dog. Had another Rescue dog who would bite my wife every time she did something stupid. Yes, the dog was very busy! The only thing I don't buy used is beer. Now, there's another quote for ya! --Daniel
  4. I was concerned before I bought my first used gun so I asked my Grandfather about it. (He's a retired NYC detective and a man of great wisdom.) In between thoughtful puffs of a cigar he asked me, "Was your wife new when you married her?" So go ahead and buy a used gun. If it's a SIG the previous owner probably just broke it in for you. --Daniel
  5. I would say the gun is less important than the smith that works on it. Pistols that have gone through GrayGuns Inc. will always catch my eye & command a premium price based on the quality of Bruce Gray's work. So find a quality pistol that you like, send it to Gray Guns for an action job, put a set of Nill grips on it & shoot the hell out of it! --Daniel
  6. Some stores may install night sights for free if you buy the sights & your ammo there. Never hurts to ask... Also some of the brand-specific gun forums have sight pushers that are passed around among forum members. It's a karma-kind-of-a-thing. Try posting that you need to borrow one & see what happens. --Daniel
  7. Nope it's a post-Browning SIG. Remove the slide & check the frame rails for severe wear. Also check the barrel exterior for scalloping. If the frame rails look good & the outside of the barrel is smooth, it's good to go. Don't worry about the surface rust. It's easy to get these pistols refinished if necessary. If it feels good in your hand then buy it. (disclaimer: I'm a SIG guy) --Daniel
  8. I prefer to leave the wife & home & take the girlfriend to the range. Sorry, couldn't resist that one. I agree that pregnancy & an indoor range are probably not the best match. Although I wouldn't hesitate to take her plinking with a Ruger 10/22 at an outdoor range. Cheers! --Daniel

    Sig P238

For a close-in defensive firearm? It's pretty good. It's lighter and easier to conceal than a Kahr K9 or a SIG P232SL. However between ammo prices & it's size, I don't see it visiting the indoor range for a 200 round workout anytime soon. Cheers! --Daniel
  10. You can get an Danish M49 Neuhausen for a fraction of what a SIG P210 costs. They're not as pretty as the P210 but in my experience they shoot just as well. Stick with the 147gr bullets as mentioned in the post above. "SIG M/49 Commonly known as the Neuhausen in Denmark, is the Danish military issue weapon in 9x19 mm, and is a specially marked version of the P210-1 or P210-2. This has been the standard sidearm of the Danish military for over 40 years, and is now in the process of being replaced." --Daniel P.S. The .357 SIG is a better round for long range pistol shooting
  11. axeman, The SP2022 9mm 15 rounders are readily available for ~$40. It's harder to find them for $20 like I used to. Several tables had them for $25 NIW at the last Valley Forge Gun Show. TopGunSupply has them in stock now for $35. http://www.topgunsupply.com/sigpro-2022-2009-9mm-15-rd-magazine.html Cheers! --Daniel
