  1. It's steel cased. Is that bad? I've read that its harder on the gun. Is that true?

if you shot steel case, steel core ammo EXCLUSIVELY, for thousands upon thousands of rounds, ie: 10K, then yes, it will wear out the barrel. a few hundred or even 1K in a guns life is nothing. furthermore, replacement pistol barrels are relatively cheap and easily changed, so its nothing to worry about.

  2. I suppose some members thinks cops should carry a violence de-esclation kit of rainbow sprinkle donuts and glitter farting unicorns when chasing a guy who has already demonstrated the capacity to take multiple lives in addition to taking hostages and carjacking after finishing a bowl of cheerios.

so you think forgetting about due process, innocent until proven guilty, and right to trial by jury can be tossed aside like all the other rights we have, at the whim of some cops? do you want them all to be judge dredd: judge, jury, executioner???

  3. i have some older riflegear mags that can load 15, but are very tight and near impossible to load on a bolt. i ordered 4 more just after the shooting, and all of them can only load 14. midwest is by far a better product. all of my mags from him can load 15 on a bolt.

  4. I can't put any stock in the conspiracy theory angle. They tend to break down after you ask the simple questions: How many people had to in on the hoax to pull it off? And considering the greed present in today's society, why hasn't a single conspirator come forward in order to sell a book for a huge payday? Why go through the trouble of setting up an apparent tragedy when you can just wait for a real one to happen on it's own?

and how many people do you think were involved with fast and furious

  5. We allow polititians, news reporters, prominant members in society to say the dumbest things and nobody calls them out. That's what pisses me off the most. If NJ2AS has a few spots open, then I KNOW we have a couple members here that can put things eliquantly enough (like the guy above me) to NOT make things worse.

an open mic at this rally would amount to literally preaching to the choir. an open mic at a town hall meeting, 2A hearing, etc, would carry much more weight. the rally will be filled with 2A supporters....ie: US, and the speakers are also pro 2A. so we'd be talking to ourselves. if we had a chance to talk to a mixed crowd, one with more coverage, or one with a mixed panel, our voice would carry further.

  6. the point that the antis dont see is: you DO have a RIGHT to yell fire in a theater. its the application of the right that is wrong or possibly illegal

likewise, you DO have the RIGHT to keep and bear. its the application of the right (ie: murder with a gun) that is wrong or illegal.

  7. it is designed to discourage gun ownership, and to make it so aggravating and annoying that most people will just give up or not try. I can attest to this as I have two friends that would like to own guns, but are too intimidated, or do not have the time to deal with this process.

as mcbeth said, thats the point. EVERYTHING in this police state infringes on the RKBA. i had this exact conversation with a friend of mine recently. remember that the government is not made up of 'people'. its an entity, like a corporation. it is, in an of itself, a living organism. it sees the big picture, and looks far, far ahead of the single citizen. the permit process was set up in this way precisely to turn some new gun buyers away. the gov knew, that if it made enough hoops for the average prospective gun buyer to jump through, there could be many, many each year that would simply give up and NOT buy a gun. that, to the gov, is as big a victory as any new AWB.

  8. I'll re-scan the OGAM paperwork again. If "any legal reason" is indeed all we need, then I will start filling that out every PPP round. The annoying part is having to need the serial numbers, so you have to purchase everything up front and leave at your dealer while you run through the shenanigans.

from what others have said, there is almost no way they can deny you an exemption. all you do is say youre a collector, and thats it. they dont check it, as how could they. if you own more then one gun (hence the need for an exemption), youre 'collecting' them.

the only other caveat is the exemption permit takes as long as the original P2P. so fill out the exemption paperwork and submit it along with your P2P, and you should get them all back at the same time, several months later. then at least you can buy both guns on the same day.
