    Paul Mulshine

    is an opinion columnist for the Star-Ledger. He has been a VOCAL supporter of the efforts of the NJ2AS and was very supportive of the effort to release Brian Aitken from prison due to New Jersey's unreasonable firearms statutes. His views on the importance of individual Liberty and Responsibility are well known to NJ residents.

     

    He began his journalism career working for the Medium, the student newspaper at Livingston College, Rutgers University. In 1975 he took his first professional job as a reporter for the Ocean County Observer in Toms River, where he grew up. He came to the Star-Ledger in 1995. He lives at the Jersey Shore and is married and has two daughters.

    Signed. Both my wife and I. Up to 8155. So what actually happens when it reaches 10,000? Does it get presented to government then? If so, to who?

     

    The plan is to have the petition printed out as many times as their are valid signatures. One copy each for AT LEAST the Governor, the Assembly, the Senate, and the Law & Public Safety committee of each house. The NJ2AS will deliver the PALLET of paper to the state house steps and call a press conference. ANYONE who is willing to stand with us is invited to be mentioned as a co-sponsor. Certainly, I plan to say that NJ Gun Forums members helped to make the petition a success. One small caveat. I downloaded the list today and there are almost 2000 non-NJ signatures. That is not a problem. It is nice to have the support of those in the FREE states who sympathize with our plight. HOWEVER, I think it is important that we are able to deliver AT LEAST 10,00 valid new Jersey signatures. So please keep promoting this petition on your websites, Facebook Pages, Twitter accounts (whatever that is - yeah I am old), and anywhere else you believe we can encourage people to sign. We still have a way to go, but we can easily accomplish this if everyone helps.

     

    You have to admit, it will be a statement. Thank you all for helping to make this a success.

    Well will someone please ask what is gonna do with his 150k salary and why after so long did they decide to give a salary to that position

     

    If my opinion counts for anything here, I am asking as a personal favor that the subject of what the ANJRPC pays its director be submitted directly to the board of directors of the ANJRPC and not at a meeting of the New Jersey Second Amendment Society. Our group consists entirely of unpaid volunteers. Mr. Bach is not charging us to appear at our meeting, he is doing it as a personal favor to me at my request. You will only embarrass me by asking such a personal question in this context. If the question does get asked, I will not allow Mr. Bach to respond. I will go to the next question. When an individual gives his personal time to address the members and guests of the NJ2AS, I expect them to be treated with respect. I would suggest to someone who wishes to handle things differently, that they spend the two years necessary to organize their own Society, at which point they may ask whatever questions they wish. Alternately, they can have the guts to approach Mr. Bach in private, man to man, and ask the question. If you don't have the guts to do it face to face, don't hide in a crowd of people like a coward and try to provoke a response. It simply won't happen.

    PLEASE CONTINUE TO GET PEOPLE TO SIGN THE PETITION IN ADDITION TO THE FOLLOWING - *BOTH* METHODS ARE IMPORTANT! THE PETITION IS THE ONLY WAY FOR *US* TO KEEP TRACK OF THE NUMBERS!!!!

     

    I realize I ask an awful lot of our Society members. There is a reason. The right to keep and bear arms (RKBA), has been *DENIED* for *SO* LONG in New Jersey that restoring and preserving RKBA will not be an easy task without everyone's help. That is why I keep going "back to the well" and asking you to dig deeper - NOPE - NOT MONEY! Believe it or not, I am not doing fund raising. I JUST want you to help me get our RIGHT BACK!

    So please read on and bear with me, and TOGETHER we will win back our RIGHTS!

     

    The same as before. we will have to make calls, send emails, faxes, SNAIL MAIL (*VERY EFFECTIVE BTW) and make personal visits. DO NOT USE THE SUBJECT LINE "CCW" RIGHT TO CARRY" or any other easily filtered subject, Make up your own. *THOSE* will get through, as will FAXES, SNALI MAIL and of course in person visits.

     

    I *KNOW IT IS MORE WORK THIS WAY! You will have to ask YOURSELF if you think it is worth it. Unfortunately, we will have to use the petition in a different way now that they have figured it out. We will have to PRINT EACH ONE OUT AND HAND DELIVER THEM. I am working that out now. It is a logistical nightmare, but we will handle it. In the meantime I am asking you to BE HEARD!

     

    Below is the contact information for members of the Law & Public Safety Committees of both the Assembly and the Senate. Some of them are our friends and some are not. It doesn't matter which are which because our strategy works either way. VOX POPULI "The VOICE of the PEOPLE"!!! It can't be ignored. We can only succeed if we PERSIST! That is up to EACH ONE OF US.

     

    *PLEASE BE POLITE* Explain that you are writing/calling/faxing/ showing up to support the "Citizens Protection Act" Remember, DON'T put that in the SUBJECT - be CREATIVE! If you have any questions about this approach, please email or message me. WE CAN *STILL* DO THIS. It is just going to take a little more effort than just typing in our email addresses into a petition, but we all know it is WORTH IT!

    *** Fellow Patriot Scott Bach to address the NJ2AS - Wed. 3/14/2012 ***

     

    The New Jersey Second Amendment Society is extremely proud and pleased to present NRA Board Member and Executive Director of the Association of New Jersey Rifle and Pistol Clubs (ANJRPC) Scott Bach, for an evening of information and updates. The meeting will be held at the Gun for Hire training facility located at 75 Rutgers Street in Belleville, New Jersey on March 14, 2012 at 7:30pm.

     

    Scott has been involved in the fight to restore and preserve the right to keep and bear arms in New Jersey for more than 15 years. As both a citizen and an attorney, Scott has used his innumerable talents to keep New Jersey from tumbling into the dark ages while dragging it kicking and screaming into the light. Scott Bach is in a unique position to bring the recent series of attorney presentations (which included Evan Nappen, David Jensen and Alan Gura) into perspective for New Jersey Firearms owners.     Just a reminder. The Alan Gura meeting is this evening at 7:30pm at the American Legion Post 129 on 2025 Church Road in Toms River, NJ. If there is only *ONE* meeting you make this year, it should be *THIS* meeting. If you have seen Alan Gura speak you know why - if you have not, you are missing something.     Alan Gura of the Heller and McDonald Supreme Court decisions will appear at the next meeting of the New Jersey Second Amendment Society (NJ2AS) on Wednesday Evening February 29, 2012 at 7:30pm at the American Legion Post 129 on 2025 Church Road in Toms River. Alan has agreed to conduct a Q&A session after the meeting.

    The New Jersey Second Amendment Society is looking for towns in the following counties that have additional conditions or requirements when processing firearms permit applications:

     

    1) Atlantic

    2) Cape May

    3) Cumberland

    4) Salem

    5) Gloucester

    If you have been subjected to additional requirements, such as being forced to sign a waiver, fill out an additional form, list the members of your household, list previous employers, provide personal information other than what is required by statute, or any other additional requirement that you are not sure about, we would like to hear from you. Please be assured that we will not take any action on your behalf without your prior approval. At this time we are just looking to identify those towns in your area that may not be in compliance with NJ firearms statutes with regard to the processing of these applications.

    Please email us at [email protected] to let us know. If you can include examples of the additional forms that would be helpful, but is not required.

    (If you live in Egg Harbor Township, you do not need to reply).

    The New Jersey Second Amendment Society is extremely proud to be presenting attorney David Jensen as the featured speaker at its meeting on Wednesday, January 11, 2012. David is the lead attorney in the case known as Muller v. Maenza. This case will have a significant impact on the future of CCW here in New Jersey as it challenges the "justifiable need" clause in the NJ Firearms Statues. The meeting is CRITICALLY important to all of us who firmly believe in the fundamental right of FREE individuals to keep and BEAR arms as protected under the Second Amendment to the Constitution. I have personally seen David speak at the SAF Gun Rights Policy Conference in Chicago this past September. He is an incredibly knowledgeable and dynamic speaker.     The meeting will be held at Gun For Hire Firearms Training Center on 75 Rutgers Street in Belleville, NJ and will begin at 7:30 pm.

     

    This presentation is the second in a series of presentations by attorneys who are critically important to RKBA in NJ and throughout the Nation. Last month attorney Evan Nappen gave an AMAZING presentation and answered as many questions as those in attendance could supply. On February 29, 2012 we will be featuring Alan Gura. I don't think I need to explain to the participants of NJGF why Alan is so important to the future of RKBA throughout the U.S.

    The New Jersey Second Amendment Society and Gun For Hire Training Centers will be running a Non-resident CCW licensing program the evening of Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at Gun For Hire Firearms Training Center on 75 Rutgers Street in Belleville, NJ. Details can be found at www.nj2as.com under "EVENTS". Processing will begin at 6:00 pm and run until 7:30 pm.

     

    PLEASE NOTE: This is not a course, it is the processing needed to apply such as photo, fingerprinting, notarization, etc. Prior requirements (using Florida as an example) can also be found on our website under "CCW INSTRUCTIONS"

     

    The cost for just the processing is $35 for member and $65 for non-members. If you join the NJ2AS at the processing you may receive BOTH your membership and the CCW processing for a discounted fee of $60.

     

    There will be a meeting immediately following the CCW processing at 7:30 pm. The featured speaker will be attorney David Jensen. David is the lead attorney in the case known as Muller v. Maenza which will significantly impact the future of CCW here in New Jersey (see separate post).

    Most definitely do not post any more details. The first thing any good lawyer will tell you is not to say anything to anyone about anything. Once you have decided on a lawyer (the suggestions already made are good ones), please have your lawyer contact the NJ2AS, ANJRPC, NRA, SAF, GOA and any other organizations that might be willing to help. Your lawyer can reach me at the New Jersey Second Amendment Society by emailing me at [email protected]. Once I know the details, our Society may be able to provide some support. Please speak to a lawyer first and follow their advice. Unfortunately, New Jersey is one of the worst places to have a firearms infraction. I wish you all good luck in the meantime and will expect a contact from your lawyer.

    Just a reminder that Evan Nappen will be the featured speaker at the Saturday December 3, 2001 meeting of the New Jersey Second Amendment Society. The meeting is being held at the American Legion Post 129 on 2025 Church Road in Toms River at 7:00 PM. Even will be conducting an extensive Q&A session after the presentation and will also be having a book signing with his NJ Gun Law Guide being offered at a deeply discounted price.

     

    Prior to the meeting we will be conducting the Out of State, non-resident CCW licensing processing for those who are interested.

     

    Details for both these events are listed on our website at www.nj2as.com. FREE registration for these events can be made on our site. Fees for CCW processing for members and non-members are also listed there.

     

    All are welcome and encouraged to attend this EXCELLENT opportunity to interact with Evan Nappen. Again, the meeting is free and open to the community. Of course donations are welcomed, encouraged and greatly appreciated.

     

    Check our website for other upcoming events such as NJ CCW case attorney David Jensen in January and ALAN GURA of "Heller and McDonald" fame in February. If you are interested in these meetings and events, I encourage you to become a member of this dynamic organization. We are currently engaged in a lawsuit against the NJ Division of State Police and litigation against individual towns and municipalities that refuse to comply with NJ state mandates for FID and PPP processing. This campaign is known as Operation Establish Compliance and it deserves your contributions and your support. We can not accomplish the mission before us without your help. As is so often said, if you are not part of the solution, then you are part of the problem. If NJ firearms owners fail to ACT, the consequences of that failure will only become much worse. Look at California!

    Got the package yesterday, thanks Frank, Wife is out of town and will be back Saturday, will go up in her office window and will see how many other businesses in the area will put them up in there windows. You sent a heck of a lot more than I expected but I'll make sure all of them get put to good use.

    The NJ2AS meeting this Wednesday November 9, 2011 in Winslow is EXTREMELY important. In addition to updating you on the various programs, litigation and activities of the New Jersey Second Amendment Society, I would like as many people as possible to show their support. We have invited the State President of the New Jersey Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs - Frank Virgilio to join us. Among the variety of reasons you want to meet Frank Virgilio is:

     

    He heads up an organization of hunters and sportsmen that boasts a quarter of a million members. We *NEED* to hear what this man has to say!

     

    His group has been responsible for more PRO-2A legislation in New Jersey than any other organization. For instance they are responsible for decreasing the limit for bow hunting to within 150 yards of an occupied building. They were able to get legislation allowing Cross Bow hunting in New Jersey, as well as Bow hunting on Sundays. These accomplishments are no small feat in a State that uniformly has no respect for individual rights and freedoms.

     

    Arms are arms, and his group "The NewJersey Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs" is DEFINITELY doing something very positive about the right to keep and bear arms for legitimate purposes. We need to learn from him.

     

    We also have to find ways of working together with hunters and sportsmen in order to achieve our mutual goals. What better way is there then to run a Q&A with the leader of the largest club in NJ.

     

    So PLEASE, if there is *ANY* way you can make this meeting on Wednesday, I need you to be there. This is an opportunity to work together with one of the largest and most successful sportsmen's organizations in our state.

     

    I think that is a VERY worthwhile endeavor, don't you?
