Does anyone know the bottem line on owning/buying/transferring the 223,7.62 and 308's? Why do some FFL's move em and some don't? I'm talking stock, not converted factory guns. I saw something somewhere that "Kaliznikov" was no good but RAA Saiga was ok, whatever. If i see a good deal and want to jump on it what are my options? Or am i just thinking too much about it. Thanx. Oh yea, feel free to give any recomondations on em.

Go ahead Frank Bumblingberg- write up and pass that bill banning 10+ clips-I for one will follow your law, word for word. And dont forget the photo op holding one, I'd like to see what they look like.

Actually made out to the range in Dec to let this old Mossy make some noise for the first time in over 50 yrs. Set up a 25 yard target at the 22 plinking range and after a few quick adjustments on the peep sight was hitting 1", quarter size groups! No bragging rights there but I think its a great start. But after only 8 rnds had a feeding issue. Fixed at home and a few weeks later went back and did well but the further out I went the more my old naked eyes didnt work. So I just picked up an old Weaver 4x scope/rings and cant wait till I get it on and start sighting in with that.

No pic of me in the photo just the plate and since the car is in wifes name, yea she got the tik,(LOL) actually called a "citation". Having gone back and forth to NC 9 times the past year I got pretty good (lucky?) knowing most of the hot spots down 95. Funny but never felt too alarmed thru MD but VA sucked. And watch out for Emporia VA on the NC state line.EVERY trip both ways somewhere was a speed trap or cars already pulled over. Infamous spot. Thats the only time I used cruise control, set it to the speed limit for about 20 miles. Love NC, never saw a cop and I guess they didnt see me either. And the 69mph they got me at was me going painfuly slow!My son got nabbed twice in VA in one week but being a Marine got off.
-
In the mail today (Jan 6) the Maryland Feds gave me a speeding ticket on 95 (69mph-watch out!!) from midnight Dec 10.Say I was in a construction zone posted 55mph. Dont recall any workers out there at midnight.Guess I was a real menace out there to the one other car two miles in front of me! Got pics of me too! Ok,done, pay the $40 and get on with my life.

Just ran across these guys while cruisen the net last night. A lot of Mosin Nagants to choose from. They sure can talk the talk. Otherwise know nothin about 'em but makes for fun reading.

Since the OP seems answered I'll hijack the thread and ask about the slugs. Just how accurate is a slug and at how many yards? Only used shot on clay , never fired off a slug. Good to know about the use on rifle range. What ports are designated for that at CR?

"18" plus a scosh to make it NFA Compliant Overall length is 26 1/2" IIRC "
Scosh?- I hate when you guys get all teknikal.

Funny thing happened day or so after i did OP- my son who's in Afghan suprised us with a skype call(wahooo!) and I mentioned knives to him and he said to go look in his"junk drawer" and take what I want. Must have been 6-8 decent knives in there! Kershaw, Kabar, Gerber, Boker, Blackhawk, Case and bunch more beater blades! Now gonna use my fleebay gift cert to get some mag pouches and somthin else. But thanx for all the recomondations!
-
Awesome innovation! I'll tell you what-unless this thing craps the endurence test it will not be coming down much in price any time soon. At least untill the competition wakes up. Whats the barrel length on it anyway?
-
Got a nice fleabay gift cert for Xmas and want to pick up a decent assisted every day carry. Any experienced recomondations out there on what to consider or avoid? Prefer with a clip, nice ergonomic grip handle, a little serration and not a flat, cold metal case. And without starting a rant here about blade size whats the biggest blade considering being combersome and legal?

That "not open on Sunday" by-law- should be an interesting bargaining chip for the new owners, can't wait to see how thats dealt with. Maybe the first domino to fall on the Bergen Cnty blue laws?

check out the link in second post above from jOn- a little cheaper.

All I'm saying is $117 which includes the shipping, transfer fee & NCIS check is a sweet deal. And I'm supporting my friendly local FFl who gets $37 for his effort via the transfer fee/NCIS. Just to compare apples to apples for a $125 rifle then add NCIS and tax comes to about $150. Not $8 dollar difference but more like $33.As for holding the gun before purchase thats another thing. Cant go too wrong for only a little over a $100.
-
wow- $40-$50 for a transfer?! I'll be paying $20 and $15NCIS for a total of $117 to get this Mosin in my hands, not too shabby. Seems a lot of guys have their eyes on the xm15 incl me but $117 wont set me back too much in the mean time to get a decent, affordable "308" rifle. Just a fun gun and certainly not a prelude to a WW11 collection!(yet)
-
yup- $10 cheaper w/ s/h so for about $82 + transfer fee you can get one of these cheap to have fun with. sounds like a plan.
-
Mosin Nagant M91/31 arsenal re-finished for$92 shipped to your Dealer. Very tempting.
-
yea, $100 bucks per year is almost reasonable but is the training class and qualifier gonna cost too? Yearly fee, one time fee? dicounted after first year? Not trying to put the cart before the horse but money matters(to me anyway)

Right- the FPID is just a purchase card, not an ownership card. Sometimes you forget the obvious when trying to see thru all the deep dark nooks and crannys of our absurd laws. But you are right, just get it asap and make all the BS a little easier to deal with.
-
Thanks, thats what I was lookin for- THE LAW. Now that that appears cleared up let me expand on some peripheal concerns. 1)You now are a resident of NJ and you got the guns legally out of state without a FPID, how do you get ammo? 2)playing devils advocate, say you get pulled over for a broken brake light on the way home from the range. Cop sees your locked pistol & rifle cases and asks you for your FPID. What happens then? You gonna show him the sales receipt that hopefully you have with you and hope this particular officer is fully knowledgable about all the laws? Man, you can go nuts in this state with all the what ifs!

Found this excerpt right here on this forum.
Every example requires a FPID. I'm sure Nj will see him as a resident. His drivers license, home address and voter ID are all NJ. I'm not questioning his ability to buy out of state just how NJ will recognize the firearms.Besides gonna need the card to purchase ammo anyway back in NJ.

Are you guys saying that if he buys a gun out of state he can bring it back to NJ ? Even tho he is technically a NJ resident, he wont need a FPID card as long as the gun is NJ compliant? Sure dont sound like something NJ would allow.I thought all out of state purchases had to go thru FFL'S and I'm sure the NJ FFL wants to see that card.
Friend is mental, can he get a card?

Well then you need to wake up and be a little smarter about the words you use. The word "mental" and safe responsible gun ownership do not compliment each other. All you did was raise some eyebrows and do your friend a dis-service.
