  1. Why don't they address the real problem, 24 year old mothers that have 4 children already, by 4 different fathers, who are either dead, in prison or missing. And, these 4 children are being raised by their 34 year old grandmother while mom is out scoring or making baby welfare recipiant #5. You"ll sometimes see grandma on the news clutching an 8 year old photo of one of the pride and joy's after the cops shoots one of them.

Wooooowww, am I allowed to talk like that? Somebody stop me please, I'm out of control. :dancing:

Be careful. All that negative talk about the poor disadvantaged people in cities like Newark, Camden, Elizabeth, etc. is going to lead to restrictions on the first amendment. You can't say or write anything that shines a negative light on the disadvantaged and repressed people of our inner cities. I can see it now. It's for our own good after all. :icon_mrgreen:

  2. I apologize I wasn't trying to quote the law and I should have said it in my post. It was more of me explaining how I think the laws can leave so much room for a lot of injustice and also how to protect yourself legally by the law is quite restricting. Informing them you have a gun would be more beneficial to you legally if you did shoot the person and they survived. It also has the ability to avoid conflict completely which is kind of what the purpose of laws are in general. In a small percentage it could however increase the level of conflict that intruder may feel they have to shoot first because they know your armed.

How is it more beneficial legally to inform them? Do you really believe a criminal will tell the truth if they survive? It could cause them to run but, I don't want them to run. My goal is to have them kiss the hardwood and wait until the boys in blue show up with the shiny bracelets. As far as them shooting first, I don't intend to say anything until they are in my sights. That wont give them much of a chance to shoot first.

  3. I posted this in the handguns section as part of my quest for a sub compact 9. Just thought they deserved a post here as well. It was just one positive visit but, looks like maybe they are trying to change their rep.

I have never been much of a fan of NJ Firearms Guild, was never made to feel comfortable there. Well, looks like they have a couple new guys working there now. One of them, Rob, was very helpful and seemed to enjoy playin with the guns as much as I did. I was pleasantly surprised, especially since I told him from the start, I was there to look at these guns and see which ones fit my hand the best. I made it clear that I was just narrowing it down and then I would have to shoot the ones that I liked. In other words, there would be no sale today. He understood and was very helpful. Enough so that I may even give them a shot at the sale once I reach my final deciscion.

  4. Hint! If you want a royal "a** kissing" (I know I appreciate one) Keep your P2P visable when you walk in.

BTW- a $50 spread is very generous of you.

A** Kissing not required. (but it doesn't hurt). :icon_lol:

I have noticed that though. That ridiculous paper does get their attention.

$50 is fair. It keeps me from driving all over the place for the best deal. And I avoid shipping and tranfer fees from buying online.

  5. I really respect that you said that! It is often forgotten that the brick and mortar stores have overhead and difficulty competing.

I would hope even if they are 20 dollars or so more you buy from them as thay carried the inventory that allowed you to make your decision.

Thanks for having integrity and not being an "el cheapo", we have too many of them here already.

As long as they come within $50, they will get the deal. I do prefer to support the LGS. In the past I have had real attitude problems from them. I keep going back beacause they do have a nice selection. Now, when I do go to purchase, if I'm greeted with attitude or ignored, well, that's a different story. Hopefully, they are making an effort to change their rep.

  6. Did they have a Diamondback DB9 in store? I was looking at it online and it has potential....

No. They had a DB380 in stock. They had a DB9 but it had been sold. That and the Sig P290 were the only 2 I didn't get to check out.

  7. I spent about an hour today fondling some of these sub compact 9's. I went in with 9 models on my list and they had 7 in stock. At this point I have it narrowed down to 2. The Walther PPS and the Kahr PM9. I need to shoot them both to really make up my mind. The PPS felt perfect in my hand and the only negative I could find was the mag release. Nothing wrong with it, just different. The Kahr actually felt a little small but, the 7 round mag would fix that. Both had really nice triggers. Just a matter of how I shoot them.

On a side note. Enough so that I may even give them a shot at the sale once I reach my final deciscion.

  8. If the same PD is reprinting you for new permits, and nothing has changed, i.e. address, name, or sex, they are going outside of what the NJSP guidelines. YOUR FINGERPRINTS DO NOT CHANGE.

No kidding. It even states that in N.J.A.C. 13:54-1.4. Unfortunately, they still do it.

    g) An applicant for a handgun purchase permit who possesses a valid firearms purchaser

identification card, or who has previously obtained a handgun purchase permit from the same

licensing authority for which he or she was previously fingerprinted, and who provides an additional

valid identification document of his or her identity, need not be fingerprinted again. In such cases,

the chief of police or Superintendent shall otherwise fully investigate the applicant in accordance

with this subchapter. The chief of police or Superintendent shall require the applicant to complete

the New Jersey State Police, State Bureau of Identification (SBI) "Request For Criminal History

Record Information For Non Criminal Justice Purpose" form, and pay the appropriate fee

established by N.J.A.C. 13:59. Applicants unable to provide an additional valid identification

    document shall submit to fingerprinting.

  9. Depends on your town.

This is from Old Bridge records bureau:

    Subsequent Application for Similar Permits:

    1. Within two (2) years of the initial application, applicant must submit to a Criminal History Name Check (SBI212A form). A money order in the amount of $18.00 must be made out to the New Jersey Division of State Police (SBI).

    2. Over two (2) years, applicant must follow Initial Application Procedures.

    Applicants may apply Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

After speaking to the clerk about this, I found that they actually go by the last time you applied for a pistol permit. So, as long as you apply for one every two years, they don't require new prints. I don't think I'll ever get reprinted going by those rules.

  10. I'm looking for a small 9mm that one day I will carry. Whether it's here in nj (with a favorable scotus ruling) or when I am able to escape this place. I want something small, light, very concealable, and most importantly, reliable. I have it narrowed down to a short list and need to go out and see which one feels just right. Any thoughts on these?

    Kahr PM9

    Sig P290

    Glock G26

    Walther PPS

    Ruger LC9
