  1. My friend who also did his the same time I did mine forgot to put his check in the envelope. I called the Dept. of Agriculture in Florida and they said it was fine. They would still process the app and when it got time for the payment part, they would send him a letter saying he forgot payment and he has 30 days to send in the payment so they can move forward.

I sure wish NJ was this nice!

  2. 1. Application type (FID/permit w/ existing FID). FID CARD AND 3 PURCHASE PERMITS

    2. Police Department where you applied. Egg Harbor Township

    3. Name of the person you dealt with at the PD. A nice lady in the records dept.

    4. Time taken to issue FID and/or permit. 95 Days from start to finish.

    5. Documents required by the PD (aside from the standard application and the mental health release form). A Work Authorization Form.

    6. Notes - anything pertaining to the application process (unforeseen difficulties, chief of police calling your home, you hiring an attorney, etc.).

I went in and handed the lady the money, STS33, and SP66. She looked them over and said there was one missing. I just nicely told her I was unemployed and she said oh okay. Then she said they will call me when the permits are ready to be picked up. My references got their letters within 8 days. However, a few days ago, they sent out another one to one of my friends which leads me to believe they lost it. No worries. I'm very patient but I hope to get them soon! Also, the current police chief is retiring in January. I hope this doesn't slow my app down.

    ***UPDATE***

Day 44 I called the police station and very politely asked what was the hold up. The lady informed me that one of my ref's never mailed in his form. So I went to the police station and picked up a ref letter. She said I can have them fill it out and bring it back myself. Thats what I will do. She said thats the only thing holding them up from giving me my FID and permits! So hopefully, I'll get them asap.

    ****UPDATE****

Went through a snafu with them saying my reference didn't send his letter back. So i had my reference fill letter out and I took it to the station myself on Dec 21st.

The detective didn't start looking at my stuff until Dec 30th! Okay, major snowstorm in area, they were probably really busy. Not a problem I can understand that.

References just got their calls last week around Jan 25th and Jan 27th. Today is Feb 5th (90th day from day I submitted app!!!) and I STILL haven't received word!!!

    *****UPDATE*****

Received letter in mail to come pick up FID and PP's finally! Honestly, I think it would have come a LOT sooner had the reference snafu never happened. :icon_mrgreen:

  3. Unclenunzie, the question was written in a rush but its not faulty. Legal, necessary, were not splitting hairs here.

Also, in my non lawyer opinion, I think the SAF isn't banking on ZERO permits being issued completely, I think they moreso are banking on the fact that the justifiable need has fallen in other places around the country, namely California.

To clarify, my question is, when NJ gets to present its case to the judge, what could they possibly say? How best could they defend against the plaintiffs assuming they go in there and say something along the lines of the law is wrong facially? How will NJ respond to such a claim?

I just cannot think of any legit defense they could put up, but then again, I am not a lawyer. Maybe they could argue someone who lives next to a school maybe within 50ft applied for a carry permit and by virtue of them living in a school zone, they would be breaking the law the minute they stepped foot outside the house. Then NJ could argue they aren't in the business of entrapment or aiding and abetting by issuing people carry permits that live within school zones.

But then again, this could open up a whole can of worms as NJ's defense would be based on Gun Free School Zone laws which are already questionable. But hey I am not a lawyer so this is just 100% pure, unadulterated speculation.

  4. What would be NJ's best defense against the SAF suit? Since its a facial challenge, all the state has to do is just prove one time that their rules are necessary. Could any of us think of any scenario where NJ's justifiable need is necessary?

I'm honestly drawing blanks here as I could not think of any scenario where justifiable need is necessary UNLESS there was some new law that allowed violent criminals and felons access to guns. Since law abiding citizens aren't criminals, that wouldn't apply to us. So that argument would be a fail. That's all I can think of right now. What about you guys?

  5. I told you guys in another thread that I had a feeling that this was gonna happen sooner rather than later! I'm joining BOTH within the next few weeks! There was a YouTube vid where Alan Gura was speaking about how they don't speak about any plans on litigation before it has been done officially. With almost NO chatter from the SAF and NJ, you had to know something was in the works. Man, I sure do hope we win!

  6. First GET A LAWYER ASAP or you run the risk of being Lautenberged! Two, any recording he makes CANNOT be used against you without your permission to record your voice UNLESS you called a line and it said one of those generic messages like "this phone call may be recorded for safety assurances yada yada yada."

I CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH TO GET A LAWYER ASAP!!!!
