  1. Your imagination is lively.

This isn't an "us vs. them" scenario.  I'm not sure how is has become that in your mind and in the mind of many here.

It is, by the claims of the "pro-carry" faction, to be just the opposite.  The truth that is revealed here appears to tell a very different tale.

Why are you putting words in my mouth. It is not an us versus them mentality. It is a fair an uniform application of the law mentality. I have nothing against police officers. I have many many friends who are cops. I have a problem with the government creating a separate set of rules for a certain group. We don't have to agree on this, if your fine with that it is your right to be. I am not.

  2.

Except, the standard for contemplative legislation is not what "you hear" or what you have "yet to see."  And I think we should all be thankful for that.

You're also unknowingly killing your own cause -- if someone that defends the public over a 25-year career has a low chance of needing a firearm in a retribution/self-defense situation, what does that say about the general public's odds?

    :icon_rolleyes:

You can face palm me all you want but my point is the other side makes stuff up calling it common sense and then we says things like retired cops are more likely to be attacked which makes them more at risk than the general public so they should get to carry without any data to support the assertion other than it makes sense... If we have a law that says you need justifiable need why do retired cops get a pass? If they truly are in danger they can explain it to a judge just like us. I'm not saying we should have justifiable need just that it should be applied consistently which is not.

Unknowingly killing my own cause? Really? What cause is that? My argument has always been we should be allowed to bear arms because it is an enumerated right. This whole nonsense of justifying it based on levels of danger is what creates special classes of citizens that we have here in NJ.

  3. To me its simple, the states position is someone in LE is far more likely to be at greater risk of retribution do to the excessive exposure to the criminal element. CO's come to mind specifically as an example. This is, in the states mind, justifiable need. It is irrelevant that we all agree that justifiable need is wrong. We should all have the ability to protect ourselves. But this does not diminish the greater exposure some LE face. I absolutely agree they should have the right to carry post retirement. I hold no ill will towards former LE that want that right. Us civilians being denied that right is an issue with our government, not LE. The only thing I will say, is that some LE I have had decades of RTKBA discussions with, had their eyes opened wide about the civilian plight on the topic when they retired and started having to jump through some hoops. Particularly ones in NY!!! They tell me now they understand what I have been talking about all these years.

Not very often though that we hear of a retired cop being attacked once retired. We need to have a clear argument for justified need which basically equates to almost having been killed and even then it's low probability of getting it. So it should be for them as well. I have yet to see any data proving that retired cops are so much more likely to have acts of retribution taken on them that they would be justified in carrying.

Right now they are just super citizens, plain and simple.

  4. Simply unreal, but not at all surprised.  The defendent in the case didn't even want to appeal and yet the ninth circuit pulls this crap.  I agree with others no chance here en banc, and very little chance for cert given Drake unless there is something about this case that better defined than Drake.  Guess we'll have to wait another 2 years for a close on this one.

  5. Spartiati it pissed you off that I cleared up all the confusion? Yeah that's nice.

In all fairness it wasn't directed AT YOU it was directed at a plethora of people who kept wanting to know what was so special about his appeal. For you to take umbrage that I put that matter to rest is bewildering.

Yes I said plethora and umbrage to prove I am intelligent enough to have clear concise posts but boy I don't expect that standard from everyone on the internet. Getting annoyed at someone for not doing that right is like chastising a child for eating too many cookies.

Nice vocabulary I am impressed.  I am sure if someone quoted you to make a point and then then used the phrase "get it?" in the way you did you would have been fine with that.  I actually am thankful you cleared it up, doesn't mean I have to like the manner in which you did it.  I would have prefered you just cleared it up.

I do agree with you thought that I should probably lower my standards.  This thread has already consumed way to much of my time so I will spend time on this thread no more.

  6. Lol.....Some of you guys may have gotten off the short yellow school bus.... But Barms and others totally got what I was saying.....thanks barms...haha

Trust me buddy, I certainly am not “intellectually challenged” as you imply. No one attacked your intelligence quotient so no need to attack mine. You already stated you were using taptalk and thus the reason for your poorly written accounts.

Glad you are doing this, there are also several other threads going where members are planning to do something similar.

  7. GUY....if your fairly well read than you know already that unless your the judge's cousin or something. Your not getting a conceal carry licence in NJ!!!!!And I'am not going to tell you what I am going to say before my court date. IT DOESN'T MATTER BECAUSE I'AM NOT GETTING ONE EITHER. ..... have your voice heard. If you read my post like you said......you would have seen the references to the cases that should have won there appeal. One case were the guy was kidnapped twice....He was denied a carry permit. And the other was the gentleman who services ATM machines....He also was denied.....Basically I dont have a better reason then those guys......So if they didn't get it I won't. ....If you did your homework you should know (Justifiable need) means you have to already be dead and your approved carry licence will be sent to your family at the funeral... Nappen is working in the background on that justifiable need........And they have other thing going on also....Just trying to help ......guy

First off my name isn't Guy.  Secondly I am quite aware of the case law you reference, that is my point.  We don't need you to point us to youtube videos and case law.  What does any of that have to do with what you are doing?  Again we are all aware that it is impossible to get a carry permit in NJ.  If you would have simply articulated "I am doing this to help further our cause by contributing to the statistics of people who are denied to help demostrate, contrary to NJ's argument that there is a 90% approval rate, that they almost always deny."  We wouldn't need this discourse.  Instead a bunch of random posts that most could not follow.  Your very first post was just a random thought which was just begging for questions.

  8. He said it like 3 times he's doing it just to do it. There was an open request for everyone to do it a while back it fizzled out. Guys stop asking him details like he's some trailblazer or something. He's taking a bullet for the cause not inventing a new bullet. Get it? I'd still buy him a drink though for getting a voice heard.

If he would have said what you just said perhaps it would have been much more clear get it? The posts were not clear and many times the English was difficult to understand.

It really pisses me off that people like you come on here and everytime someone asks a question you feel it necessary to be a smart ass i.e. "Get it?".  The fact is this thread was not clear and several other have pointed that out.  I was not at all suggesting he was a trail blazer.  I posted my question because several others asked if he could provide details and he told us to go view youtube videos and read NJ gun laws.

  9. Sorry.....not one to be out front. And I will not be in the area this week......If you read my post I have given you all my tips that helped me learn more about nj laws...And it I must say is very disgusting to know that about 44 other states allow you to defend yourself and nj and ny does not. How did they allow that to happen? We are all under the same constitution. ...Join the Nra, nj2as, anjrcp......listen to the pod casts.....gun for hire radio. ......Those guys do a great job of informing people....They informed me....Go get em guys....

Most of us are "fairly" well read on the subject of NJ gun laws.  Folks aren't asking you for resources on NJ gun laws.

What I'd like to better understand is the argument you are making in front of the court in your appeal.  Not clear from your posts.

  10. What I've come up with so far is this...the die doesn't move, the shell plate does...so we're not pushing the bullet down into the case, we're pushing that case up around the bullet...when the handle stops so does the shell plate...picture the die not being there, and if 2 cases of different lengths could fit on the shell plate, when the shell plate stops, the taller case crosses the finish first...this is with pistol calibers where trimming doesnt usually take place...NOW...with rifle where you trim / neck size etc etc...they should all be pretty much uniform in size and should just about all come to the same OAL. This is also why I never mix lots together as sometimes a different lot can have a slightly different ogive...this will make the bullet hit up into the die at a different point, resulting is different measurements as well. Im not professional re loader, but my logical thinking is usually on point lol...always willing to learn tho.

I thought this at first as well but if distance between shell plate and die doesn't change with a full pull of the lever then regardless of case length the OAL should be the same.  Only thing that would change is seating depth.

I haven't fully analysed this, one of these days I want to check OAL immediately after seating i.e. before crimping to see if the change in OAL is present between the two cases.  Perhaps crimping is doing something when the case length changes.

  11. It doesn't...I can't explain it, just that I know I have an oal range of 1.055 for the longer cases and 1.065 for the shorter ones, I dunno. When I was trying to get consistent 1.060 I was getting a range of 1.50-1.60...thinking 1.050 was too short I started measuring the cases and i was getting 3 different averages, took the middle average and seated to 1.060...getting my range to 1.055-1.065...using the Lee Classic Turret.

I too have experienced this as well. I use a few different case manufactures for 45acp and when I switch between them using the same bullets my seating die needs to be adjusted in order to maintain OAL.

This has puzzled me for some time as the distance from contact point of bullet in seating die to the shell plate doesn't change so you would think you'd get the same OAL with different cases but I don't. If some one could explain this would be great.

I use a Dillon xl650. Other things I have noticed that will effect OAL is a shell plate that is not properly torque down, not having a full shell plate when a bullet is being seated I.e. Not having a case in all stations, and a tool head that moves. I have fixed the latter by threading the tool head and screwing it to the machine.

  12. I'm surprised that nobody has commented on the fact that he drew his loaded pistol in the middle of a store.  That was his FIRST mistake, completely unnecessary.  Not clearing his clothing was the second mistake.

My thought exactly.  Should have never removed the loaded gun in the store.  Not necessary.

I love how the program charaterized it as an issue with Glock design.  This can happen with vitually and striker fire gun or any gun for that matter, manual safety or not.  Need to make sure the holster is clear...

  13. Does he have the same rules in the shop like he does at the gun shows? At the shows he won't let you buy just powder alone, makes you buy other stuff at a certain amt depending what size powder you want i.e. 1lb powder need to spend an add'l $10...8lb need to spend an add'l $20. If you want to limit quantities thats fine, no need to make ppl spend more than they need/want. Ridiculous imo.

He's never had any requirements like that in his shop to my knowledge.  Have purchsed there a number of times and haven't had to deal with that.

  14. Press is set up for 10mm and yesterday noticed the cases are getting caught on the edge before they drop down, messing up my flow if I dont catch it lol...any ideas? I'll most likely call Dillon tomorrow, just curious if anyone else has run into this.

There is a small adjustment screw on the case feedbody which allows you to adjust alignment of it with the tube.  If you can find let me know will take a picture on mine.

  15. I guess my vinyl graphics guy doesn't speak Greek lol... you got what it says even with the grammatical errors though.... I should know this stuff myself I'm a fraternity brother... been a long time since I needed to know that alphabet...

True that can still make it out, but being Greek it stands out to me. Thought I'd mention should you reprint :)
