  1. I was at a LGS yesterday, and I was told that in an otherwise clean HD shooting situation, if I'm using hollow points, I'll always loose a civil case unless the person is also shooting at me with hollow points. He likened it to a car accident situation where if you rear end someone, you'll always be to blame. He then went on to recommend Hornady critical defense because they aren't "legally" hollow point.

Now I know civil liability will always be a concern in any shooting situation, but can anyone verify or disagree with this?

I don't see the validity in his argument "when you hit someone from behind you are automatically at fault"... If this logic was correct it wouldn't matter what ammo you use, you would automatically be guilty of muder if you defend yourself and kill someone with a gun. Now if you were automatically at fault if you hit someone from behind in a blue car I might buy it.

    More gun shop BS.

  2. My heart is beating out of my chest right now...No more police, we have paramilitary that can go into your home based on basically nothing, as was evidenced by what they found - nothing.  Albeit DC laws are stupid and he was technically in violation of the law, but I have never heard of someone being killed by empty shotgun shells and cleaning equipment.

The police can point loaded weapons at you when you present no danger, an act of dealy force. If you did it to a police officer you'd get God knows how many years in prison.  Then they pull a naked family member out of the shower and show him absolutely no human dignity.  How did we get here, that law enforcement feels that i order to enforce the law that have to treat citizens who are inocent until proven guilty like sewer rats in their own home?????

  3. To be fair, there isn't actually ANY rule in regards to the benches during a cease fire. In my case getting screamed at for simply dropping a small pack of targets on a empty bench while passing it to set up the target frame. The rules are in regards to firearms during a ceasefire. They could show a little discretion. Also got yelled at for leaning the target frame against the bench... It is a pretty stupid rule when you got RO's ripping you out for such petty shit that has nothing to do with safety. If an RO has to tell you to keep away from the bench with a gun on it, you should get written up.

They want to keep people off the bench period during cease fire even for small things like dropping targets on an empty bench. Makes people out changing targets uncomfortable when people touch the bench. I am one of them. Sorry you got yelled at, it's happened to all of us at one point in time. I got over it.

    Baloney.

    1. All guns cleared and left on the table while people are downrange. No touching the guns.

    2. All guns pointed downrange at all times.

Nothing strict about any of that. Anything else is bs. It's pretty simple.

Agree pretty simple, however people screw this up all the time.  Unfortunately when you have a long line like at CR can't always see what others are doing at the opposite end.  I really appreciate the job RO's do, have been there on many occations where someone walks up to the bench while the range is safe and the RO is on them.

Was at the range last week (Not CR), and had a member's guest walk out across the line while the line was hot to sweep up brass while I was about to shoot.  Caught him in corner of my eye and went ballistic....

  5. As of late have been running pistol brass through my wet tumbler with primers left in. Previously I was depriming first which I felt was tedious. Takes brass longer to dry fully, but I've loaded about 2000 rounds of 45acp and 10mm with no issues. Saves a lot of time and havent had any issues with primers corroding.

  6. Just to clarify, you are legally allowed to carry a handgun on property you own.  I haven't read specific hunting laws, but I don't think anything would keep you from carrying a handgun on you, while on your own private property while hunting.  You just can't use it as your hunting weapon.

IE... your bow hunting on your property, you can carry the handgun with you(as far as I know).  Just don't shoot the deer with it.  And be mindful of your property boundaries, don't shoot the deer with the bow, and then go onto your neighbors property with the handgun still strapped to your hip looking for the deer.

Not sure it is so clear.  There is a NJ reg which prohibits a hunter from carry both a Bow and a firearm at the same time while in the field hunting.  One could argue that a hunter on their own provate property can carry the handgun as he can't hunt with it anyway but this is NJ.

  7. I'm doing some traveling this summer and plan to utilize my brandy new UT CCW permit as soon as I cross into America.  I've been carefully researching ccw laws and federal transport laws just to be sure I'm not going to get myself into any trouble.  Growing up in the  PRNJ really makes a person paranoid.

I've been looking into FOPA - Firearms Owners Protection Act.  FOPA says in part :

If "place" means the specific place I leave from - my house - I'm okay because I can lawfully possess and carry in my house.  Unfortunately, I've found legal opinions that "place" means state.  I can't lawfully possess and carry in my state and if "place" really means "state", It would seem that NJ residents are not protected by FOPA at all.

Have flown out of Newark mulitple times with a handgun Which has to be declared and havent been arrested yet...

  8. I would love to hear the other side, but reading this it almost seemed like it was a work of fiction.

What legal grounds would law enforcement have to enter a home with out a warant and seize the home? This is absolutely unbelievable (not saying it didn't happen) but wow if it is true.

  9. When I was a kid my dad was always the handiest guy around.  This man could do anything! I have watched him build houses, fix cars, make little mechanical things fly and all sorts of cool stuff.  HIGHLY impressive for a man who can barely read.  Growing up he would always give me something to tinker with.  He always said if something breaks, you have to fix it or find out how to fix it.  We live in an era now where if something breaks we just go buy a new one or pay someone else to deal with it.

Well the other day my headlight went out in my 09 malibu.  No biggie just grab the replacement bulbs from the auto store, pop the hood and replace the bulb right..... WRONG!! for some reason chevy made it so that you have to basically take off your front end bumper and grill in order to access the headlights.  After watching a few videos due to my aggrivation on not being able to figure out how to do it on my own, it seems relatively easy.  Time consuming sure but not difficult.  They did this I assume so that poor helpless consumers would call the dealership so that they could do the work for a nominal $350.... to change the bulb in a headlight (not including the 50 headlights bulbs).

I decided it is time for my boy to get some tools in his hand and help his dad do some work so he can have some experiences to remember.  I am no where near as handy as my dad, in fact tools in my hand scare some people lol joking, sort of.  This weekend my son (almost 6) and I will be removing the entire front end of my car, changing my headlights and then fixing the front end.  Should take about an hour maybe 2 with a 6 year old but I think the bonding time is going to be awesome.  I can not wait until he is old enough to do the hunters course and start going to the range!  At this age they are sponges and I want him to soak up as much as I possibly can before he becomes a bonehead teen!  anyway, screw you Chevy 2009 (2008-2012 as well) malibu designers, your not getting my money your just giving me time with my son! HA!!

Oh btw if any of you drive a 08-12 malibu and your headlight goes out, dont go to the dealership, you can youtube some videos, it will take a little time but honestly it is only like 20 bolts and little plastic set screw things and a two person removal of the bumper so it doesnt scratch... not terribly difficult... possible pics to follow... my little man is EXCITED!

Reminds me of my Audi A4 where you need to remove the entire front end of the car in order to replace a rubber timing belt that costs $50.  If you take it to a stealer they routinely charge $2000 to do it.  I've learned before I buy a car anymore I do thorough research on forums to hopefully identify crap like this...

  10. That's nice Spartiati. For 1.5 yrs hunting this down, would it not have been easier getting on LB's waiting list? Does he not make this configuration anymore?

Stopped making 10mm 10 years ago and will not even consider making them again....

  11. Well, after a long search (1.5 years) and then a long wait for permits (4+ months) I have finally picked up my Les Baer Pemier II in 10mm in Hard Chrome.  Pistol is about 10 years old but only had a box of ammo through it and then it sat in the guys safe.  Quick pictures from my iphone...Can't wait till tomorrow to put some rounds through it!
